WHO WILL HOLD UPND TOGETHER WHEN HH IS GONE- CHIJIKWA

Former UPND Information and Publicity Secretary Bellingham Chijikwa has fired a warning shot at the governing party, asking who will hold UPND together and provide leadership when President Hakainde Hichilema is no longer at the helm.

Speaking to Byta FM Monday Morning, Chijikwa says the party he cherished and fought for time in memorial must confront its internal realities before they become a succession crisis and destroy the Party.

Chijikwa argues that loyalty must never be confused with silence because the party has lost touch with the people who sacrificed and fought for it when victory appeared almost impossible.

He says some people who once opposed, mocked or fought the UPND are now sitting at the centre of power, while some of the party’s longstanding members increasingly feel pushed to the margins.

Chijikwa says this should worry the Leadership and genuine members who understand the history of UPND much as new members are welcome but warns that political inclusion must not become a replacement of the party’s history and founding loyalty.

He adds that the recent calls for ordinary members and the general public to contribute towards the inauguration celebrations is a wrong move especially that members gave their money, time and energy to deliver victory and should never be asked to finance the celebration but motivated by a Party funded event.

Chijikwa further says these questions should not be seen as attacks on UPND but  describes them as facts of loyalty, accountability and succession.

He has since warned that the greatest threat to a political movement may not always come from its opponents, but from forgetting the people within who built it—and failing to think of the future.
