Fri. 14th December, 2023 (SMART EAGLES)
FORMER Home Affairs Minister who is also SHIWANG’ANDU Member of Parliament Hon. Stephen Kampyongo has questioned why well known UPND cadres are still mining Gold in Kanyelele village despite the nation being told that the activities in that area were stopped and the place was being guarded by state police.

“Madam Speaker, the Minister of Mines and Minerals Resources informed us that the people doing mining activities in Mpika were removed and that the area of the mine was going to be protected by the state”

“As I speak we have information that well known cadres are still on the ground doing these illegal activities. Further, His Royal Highness Chief Mukwikile of Shiwang’andu District is also raising serious concerns that some people have issued concessional licenses under his chiefdom that has left a lot of our people displaced in the district”

Further, the parliamentarian implored Government to inform the nation on why the illegal mining activities have continued in this area as this can be another calamity in the waiting.

“With what has happed in Chingola it won’t be long before we hear of another calamity in these areas”
The Shiwang’andu Lawmaker said this yesterday when he rose to raise a Matter of urgent public importance.
