ROORA DAY TO AXE HORROR: WIFE ‘HACKED’ HUSBAND — THEN TOOK POISON

Chilling domestic tragedy struck days after Dr Martin Muduva reportedly paid lobola for his long-term partner

HARARE — What was meant to be a celebration of love and a new chapter reportedly ended in a chilling domestic tragedy involving an axe and poison.

Days after Dr Martin Muduva reportedly paid lobola for his long-term partner, he was allegedly attacked by his wife, Lyliosa Chirara, at their home in Dzivarasekwa.

According to emerging incident reports, Chirara allegedly struck Muduva three times with an axe while he slept.

She reportedly then took poison and died.

The alleged attack came shortly after Muduva reportedly formalised a customary marriage with Patience Mangwiro, MSU’s Acting Director of Enterprise, effectively making Mangwiro his second wife under the customary arrangement.

That development may have been a source of tension for Chirara, although police have not confirmed it as the motive for the attack.

Muduva and Mangwiro had reportedly been in a relationship for about five years and have one child together.

Over the weekend, the couple celebrated their customary marriage in a ceremony widely referred to as “Roora Day”, with photographs later shared online.

Muduva reportedly posted a photograph from the ceremony on his WhatsApp status on Monday before deleting it. Mangwiro also shared images from the celebrations.

The timing of the alleged attack has placed the customary marriage under intense scrutiny. However, police have not publicly established what triggered the confrontation.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Midlands State University community, where Muduva and Mangwiro were both professionally connected.

Reports indicate that Mangwiro’s previous marriage had ended before her relationship with Muduva began.

Investigators are now working to reconstruct what happened between the Roora Day celebrations and the fatal events in Dzivarasekwa.

A weekend of photographs, family celebrations and customary marriage had, within days, become a horrifying tale of axe blows, poison and two lives lost.
