Wild Story: Donald Trump claimed that Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia each gave $2 trillion for the wars in the Middle East bringing the total to an astonishing $6 trillion.
But here’s the catch: the combined GDP of Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia is estimated at around $3 trillion.
So the obvious question is: Where did the $6 trillion Trump mentioned come from?
Unless he was referring to something other than direct government funding such as long-term investment pledges or commercial agreements the figure appears difficult to reconcile with the publicly known size of these economies.
