UNITED KINGDOM: Woman Admits Using Plastic Doll to Fake Pregnancy After Hiding Miscarriage From Partner

A woman who used a lifelike plastic doll to fake being a new mum says she only did it because she couldn’t bring herself to tell her partner she had suffered a miscarriage.

23-year-old Kira Cousins, a former supermarket worker, went viral after tricking her boyfriend and family into believing she had been pregnant and given birth to a baby girl she named Bonnie-Leigh Joyce.

Cousins said she wore a prosthetic bump to make it look like her pregnancy was progressing, and later presented the doll as her newborn.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, she admitted her actions were wrong but explained she felt trapped after losing the baby.

“I couldn’t tell him. I did lose a child. I’d tried to tell him when I first lost the child,” she said.
“I still have messages on my phone which said, ‘Jamie, we need to sit down’. But I couldn’t speak to him about anything.”

“I can hold my hands up and say, ‘No, I shouldn’t have used a doll’. But at the same time, nobody knows what our relationship was like.”
