Xi Jinping to Visit Egypt in September, China Says

Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to Egypt in early September, marking his first visit to the country in 10 years, China’s Foreign Ministry announced.

During the visit, Xi is expected to hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi on bilateral relations and broader regional and international issues.

The visit will coincide with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, highlighting the long-standing strategic partnership between Beijing and Cairo.

Xi’s trip is expected to focus on strengthening economic, political and strategic cooperation, as China continues to expand its engagement across the Middle East.

The visit also comes as Beijing seeks a greater diplomatic and economic role in the region, while Egypt remains a key partner for China in the Arab world and along the Belt and Road trade network.
