…if Lungu says anything against HH we’ll defend the President, vows Akafumba

LET’S fortify ourselves against Edgar Lungu’s threats as permanent secretaries and civil servants, urges home affairs permanent secretryfor administration Josephs Akafumba.

He says permanent secretaries will protect President Hakainde Hichilema against any attacks from Lungu.

“You attack one, you attack all,” Akafumba said in a statement to The Mast.

He said all permanent secretaries and civil servants should unite against Lungu “who is threatening to make one unnamed

permanent secretary’s life miserable and hard when he returns to power”.

“All permanent secretaries and civil servants need to be careful and take Lungu’s threats serious. We need to fortify our position.

Naifwe ba PS tatuli ba cintinya (even us permanent secretaries we are not scared),” Akafumba said. “Lungu’s threats means all permanent secretaries are targets. Recently, he threatened to deal with police officers and civil servants when he gets back into power. These threats by extension are threats to families of all civil servants and permanent secretaries. It is a wakeup call to all of us and our families that this gentleman is planning to come back and make our lives miserable.”

He added that Lungu is forcing permanent

secretaries to respond to his threats in a political manner.

“He can’t accuse us that we are political. Yes, it’s him dragging us into politics. So, whenever he issues threats against us, we will not keep quiet. So, for all permanent secretaries and civil

servants it’s faka (put) volume,” Akafumba said. “When he comments about us we will answer back. If he says anything against President Hakainde Hichilema we will defend the President.”

He added that of all Zambian presidents, Hichilema has suffered the worst treatment as sitting Head of State comparable to Dr Kenneth Kaunda.

“He persevered and was resolved to get rid of a corrupt regime. He is actually a junior Nelson Mandela. So let Lungu just renew his retirement from politics and drink his coffee or whatever,” said Akafumba
