ZAMBIA CAN MAKE A LOT OF PROGRESS IF WE LET LUNGU RULE ANOTHER 5-10 YEARS – WINA

We can make a lot of progress as a country if only we vote for President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to see us for another five to 10 years, says Vice-President Inonge Wina.

Speaking when she met PF officials and adopted candidates for Kabompo and Manyinga Districts in North Western Province, Thursday, Wina said the Patriotic Front had implemented massive projects which had benefited citizens.

“We have to have confidence in ourselves. I think for many years we have been told no, ‘Zambians cannot do this, Zambians cannot do this’. We can! We can run the mines, we can make our own timber here, we can process a lot of items in this country if only we vote for this government of president Edgar Chagwa Lungu to see us for another five to 10 years,” Wina said.

“I told my president that now I would like to take leave and retire a little bit. This does not mean I will stay away from the PF. As you see me today, you will see me in future here in Manyinga and many other areas of our country just to check on PF. We are here partly on a campaign trail to introduce the leaders being in positions of governance for the next five years.”

Meanwhile, PF presidential running mate Professor Nkandu Luo assured that the PF would offer economic freedom if re-elected into power.

“We cannot sell our country which is what the Upnd are doing. Kaunda gave us political Freedom, the PF is giving you economic freedom. Once you have political freedom and economic freedom, this country will rise above everybody. And it will be a country that everybody will look at and say how I wish I could be a Zambian. How I wish I could leave the rest of my life in Zambia,” she said.

“Wealth is shared, you cannot share poverty. So what our opponents are saying is that we should continue sharing poverty. Our opponents are saying, as they received a hundred motor vehicles in a country that will remain nameless, they are saying we are going to ask you to come to Zambia so that you can come and take some of the wealth of Zambians namely the mines. Your government is saying we want Zambians to own wealth. Your government is saying through its manifesto. We want you to be entrepreneurs, we want you to get educated and as such we want you to increase tertiary, primary and secondary education.”

Prof Luo further urged party members to mobilise and convince UPND leaders to defect to the Patriotic Front.

“The message to give out in door-to-door campaigns or any other opportunity, is extremely important. Our messages should be very different from what our colleagues in opposition are saying. Our colleagues in the opposition are promising that should we be voted, this is what we are going to do, whereas for us, we have achieved so much so we cannot promise. Our message will be that of building on what we have done,” said Prof Luo.

“So please mobilize all your colleagues, even those who are UPND, go to their door steps and convince them why you are PF. We tend to say those ones do not allow them here they are UPND, politics is about numbers. Go and mobilise. Convince them so that they can join us and all the other parties that are contesting. You can even ask some of them to step down because you have convinced them. And that is your role, that is your job. So let’s not just dance let us work.”
