ZAMBIA SHOULD HOLD FRESH ELECTIONS SAYS PETER SINKAMBA.

Zambian entrepreneur and politician Peter Sinkamba says Zambia should hold fresh elections.

The Green Party leader says a number of election petitions indicate that the elections were not credible, free and fair across the country.

Mr. Sinkamba says the government should call for fresh general elections that would be free, fair and credible in order to reduce the tension that has gripped the country following the acrimonious August general elections.

He says five months after the general elections, there is still explosive tension in the country which, if not addressed, will not help the country develop.

Mr. Sinkamba says Zambians are unhappy and dissatisfied with the manner in which the general elections were conducted

“The fairest thing for this government to do is to call for fresh general elections because there is too much explosive tension. Five months after the general elections, the country remains divided,” he said.

“There is a belief among many Zambians that the general elections were not credible, free and fair, making it difficult for the country to develop. Fresh general elections can therefore help resolve the problem,” he said.
