Zambian Ambassador to South Korea Dismisses Criticism Over Political Comments.
Zambian Ambassador to South Korea Andrew Banda says people who are criticising him for being a civil servant and commenting on political issues have short memories.
He said claims that he has breached the Constitution are baseless because he has a right to defend the Head of State.
Mr. Banda said that under previous governments, former diplomats freely campaigned for those who appointed them, but no one questioned their actions.
Mr. Banda said he is a political appointee and that he is in Zambia to campaign for President Hakainde Hichilema, who appointed him.
Speaking during a media briefing in Chipata today, Mr. Banda said that, worldwide, political appointees like him are expected to campaign for the presidents who appoint them, adding that he will not hide from members of the public.M
Mr. Banda reiterated that the opposition Tonse Alliance will not win this year’s elections and that its candidate cannot defeat President Hakainde Hichilema.
