ZAMBIAN and Zimbabwean law enforcement agencies are collaborating to track down five fugitives wanted in Zambia for various alleged criminal offences, including former Petauke Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Banda and former presidential political advisor Kaizar Zulu.
Zimbabwe Republic Police chief of staff for public relations Paul Nyathi said the two police services are working together to establish the whereabouts of the individuals believed to be in Zimbabwe and facilitate appropriate legal action.
In a statement obtained by the Zambia Daily Mail, Mr Nyathi said the cooperation is being coordinated through the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters in Zimbabwe.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters, is working closely with the Zambia Police Service in strengthening cross border police cooperation and combating transnational crime within the region,” he said.
Mr Nyathi said Zimbabwean police are assisting with inquiries involving five individuals wanted by Zambian authorities in connection with separate offences, including aggravated robbery, theft and cybercrime.
Mr Banda is wanted in connection with allegations of aggravated robbery, attempted murder and escape from lawful custody, while Mr Zulu is sought over an alleged offence of conversion not amounting to theft.
The other individuals named in the police appeal are Susan Chileshe, Enock Mwanza and Robert Ng’uni, who are wanted in connection with alleged cybercrime offences, including unauthorised access to and interference with computer systems
Mr Nyathi appealed to members of the public to provide information that can help establish the whereabouts of the five individuals.
“Anyone with information can report to the nearest police station or contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631, WhatsApp on 0712 800 197, or INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau in Harare on +263242700099,” he said.
