ZAMBIA’S COPPER PRINCESSES SEEK REDEMPTION AGAINST VENEZUELA IN WORLD CUP SHOWDOWN

Zambia’s Under-17 Women’s National Football Team, popularly known as the Copper Princesses, will be looking to bounce back when they face Venezuela on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

The crucial Group D encounter comes after Zambia suffered a disappointing 5–0 defeat to Japan in their opening match, leaving the young Copper Princesses under pressure to secure their first points of the tournament.

Head coach Carol Kanyemba and her players now face a major test against a determined Venezuelan side, which also lost its opening match 2–0 to France.

With both teams desperate for victory, Wednesday’s encounter promises to be a fiercely contested battle as Zambia fights to keep its hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

Zambian midfielder Precious Mwewa has urged her teammates to put the Japan defeat behind them, learn from their mistakes and deliver a stronger performance.

The Copper Princesses will need improved defensive organisation, greater composure and sharper attacking play if they are to overcome their South American opponents.

Zambia will conclude its group-stage campaign against France on Saturday, 24 October.
