ZELENSKY ARRIVES IN NEW YORK WITH HIGH-LEVEL AGENDA AND NEW DRONE DEAL
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived in New York with First Lady Olena Zelenska to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Zelensky said he has around 20 meetings scheduled with international leaders and senior officials, including a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as talks with European leaders, U.S. senators and representatives, international organizations, major businesses and think tanks.
Zelensky also announced that Ukraine is preparing to sign a new agreement on drones, although he has not yet disclosed details about its scope or terms.
“Ukraine’s number one priority is to bring peace closer and protect the lives of our people,” Zelensky said, adding that he plans to present concrete security proposals and measures aimed at de-escalation.
Kyiv is also expected to seek stronger air-defense capabilities and continued international financial support.
A new summit of the International Crimea Platform will also take place in New York this week, focusing on support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Meanwhile, Olena Zelenska is scheduled to speak with students and faculty at Columbia University and meet business leaders, philanthropists and international representatives to promote projects supported by her foundation
The visit comes as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange attacks while diplomatic efforts focus on possible mechanisms for de-escalation.
The key question now is whether Zelensky’s New York meetings will produce concrete agreements or lead mainly to further diplomatic statements.
