Zelensky congratulates Hichilema on re-election, invites him to Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated President Hakainde Hichilema on his re-election, saying the outcome reflects Zambians’ confidence in his leadership and their desire for continued democratic development.
Ukrain, 2 September – In a congratulatory message, Mr Zelensky said Ukraine valued its friendly relations with Zambia and expressed appreciation for Lusaka’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He said Zambia’s position was consistent with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, highlighting the importance Ukraine attaches to the country’s support on the international stage.
President Zelenskyy further expressed Ukraine’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with Zambia in areas of mutual interest, including through international organisations.
He also extended an invitation to President Hichilema to visit Ukraine, signalling Kyiv’s interest in strengthening political and diplomatic ties between the two countries
In his message, the Ukrainian leader wished President Hichilema good health and success as he carries out his duties as Head of State.
He also extended his wishes to the people of Zambia for peace, harmony and prosperity.
