Zelenskyy Says Ukraine Is Prepared for Possible Iranian Retaliation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Kyiv is prepared for the possibility of retaliation from Iran following Ukraine’s reported attack on an Iranian-owned commercial vessel.

Speaking in an interview with Sky News, Zelenskyy was asked whether Ukraine had made preparations for a potential Iranian response.

“Iran has already attacked us by supplying Russia with drones that were used to strike our territory,” Zelenskyy said. “They are dangerous people capable of anything, and we are prepared for the possibility that they could attack us.”

The Ukrainian leader argued that Iran has already played a direct role in the conflict by providing military equipment to Russia, particularly attack drones that Kyiv says have been used extensively against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Zelenskyy’s comments come amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns that the conflict could widen further. His remarks suggest that Ukrainian authorities are anticipating the risk of additional escalation involving Iran, while reaffirming that Kyiv remains on alert against potential retaliatory actions.

The statement follows reports of an attack on an Iranian commercial vessel, an incident that has added another layer of complexity to the broader geopolitical tensions involving Ukraine, Russia, and Iran.
