ZELENSKYY: UKRAINE WOULD ENTER NEGOTIATIONS FROM A STRONGER BATTLEFIELD POSITION
Ukraine is significantly stronger on the battlefield than it was one year ago and now holds a better position for potential negotiations, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia is losing more than 30,000 personnel every month while securing only slow and limited advances.
“Russia loses, you know, 30,000-plus people per month. And this is a big price for such slow moves on the battlefield. That’s why we think that we now have a good position for negotiations,” he said.
His argument is not that the fighting has become easy or that Russia no longer poses a serious threat. It is that Moscow has failed to achieve the decisive breakthrough it sought despite committing enormous numbers of troops and accepting unsustainable losses for incremental territorial gains.
Negotiations are shaped by conditions on the battlefield. Every Russian offensive Ukraine stops, every defensive position it preserves and every strike that raises the cost of continuing the invasion strengthens Kyiv’s ability to reject terms imposed from Moscow.
Ukraine is not asking to negotiate from weakness. It is preparing to negotiate as a country Russia tried—and failed—to defeat.
