ZESCO DENIES ALLEGATIONS OF TRIBAL-BASED DISCRIMINATION AND PURGING WITHIN THE COMPANY

State owned power utility Zesco Limited has refuted allegations of tribal-based discrimination and purging within the company.

27 former Zesco Limited employees have sued the company for dismissal on allegations of tribalism.

But Zesco Limited Managing Director Victor Mapani dismissed these claims as entirely false, asserting that the company maintains a diverse workforce representing various tribal backgrounds across all levels of the company.

Mr. Mapani tells phoenix News that concrete data exists to validate the inclusivity of Zesco’s employment practices from the lower ranks to the upper echelons of management.

Further, Mr Mapani says contrary to speculations regarding an inflated workforce, Zesco’s current staffing levels are aligned with the regulatory standards set forth by the Energy Regulation Board as the company operates within the legal parameters established by authorities.

  1. Victor, just stand firm. The Bembas are at it again. Simply because they’re not in charge they’re coming up with the ludicrous claim of tribalism forgetting where ZESCO is coming from under PF. The whole company was employing Bembas only; the official language had changed to Bemba with a lot of Bemba Ghost workers on payroll! The records and statistics are there for all to see.
It’s high time we started running our state companies properly.
These Bembas have an insatiable sense of entitlement for state resources as if other tribes are second citizens.
But they need to be treated like everybody so they can understand that Ngonis, Tongas, Lozis, Luvvies, Mbundas, etc are also people and equally entitled to state resources.

  2. Employ Tanzanians, Congolese, Angolans, Namibians, Botswanas, Zimbos, Mozambicans, Malawians. Then problem solved.

    You get the point

  3. The better way to report a story such as this one is to publish the affidavit that the fired employees have filed in court alongside Zesco’s defence.

  4. I can never ever condemn a whole tribe because I see a lot of common weaknesses and common strengths in everyone.
