“Zimbabwe’s Richest Man Strive Masiyiwa Announces Major Job Creation Drive as Thousands of Zimbabweans Return Home from South Africa
Zimbabwean billionaire and Econet founder Strive Masiyiwa has reportedly instructed his companies to expand employment opportunities as more Zimbabweans return from South Africa and other countries in search of opportunities back home.
As part of the initiative, EcoCash plans to recruit around 15,000 new mobile money agents before the end of the year. The expansion is expected to strengthen financial services across the country while creating employment and business opportunities for thousands of people.
Econet estimates that the recruitment drive could directly and indirectly support up to 30,000 jobs through agent networks, small businesses and related economic activities
The company is also linked to broader investments in sectors such as agriculture, technology and infrastructure, which could create additional opportunities for Zimbabweans seeking work and entrepreneurship prospects.
The development comes as Zimbabwe continues efforts to boost economic activity, attract investment and create jobs for its growing workforce, with some citizens choosing to return home in search of new opportunities.
