OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE RETIREMENT OF VETERAN BROADCASTERS MR. INNOCENT KALALUKA AND MR. FRANKLIN TEMBO JNR
LUSAKA — The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) wishes to formally inform the general public and its valued viewers regarding the official retirement of two of its long-serving veteran television personalities, Mr. Innocent Kalaluka and Mr. Franklin Tembo Jnr, effective 31st August.
Both officers dedicated over 30 years of illustrious service to the national broadcaster, gracing television screens across the nation and making immense contributions to the growth of Zambia’s media landscape.
Both Mr. Kalaluka and Mr. Tembo Jnr individually and voluntarily submitted their applications for early retirement last year (2025) and there is nothing sinister or out of the ordinary regarding their retirements.
The retirement process for the two officers is completely normal and fully compliant with Zambian labor laws and ZNBC conditions of service. ZNBC conditions of service, in line with Statutory provisions, allow employees the option to opt for voluntary early retirement upon reaching 55 years of age, or standard retirement at 60 years.
In the case of Mr Kalaluka and Mr Tembo Jnr, Management formally approved their applications following the standard administrative timelines, culminating in their official exit at the end of August.
The Management and Staff of ZNBC extend their deepest gratitude to Mr. Innocent Kalaluka and Mr. Franklin Tembo Jnr for their decades of selfless service, professional dedication, and mentorship to younger generations of broadcasters.
We wish them the very best in their future endeavors and well-deserved retirement.
