ZNS EXPERTS DISPATCHED TO MUMBWA TO WORK ON DAMAGED LANDLESS CORNER ROAD
ZAMBIA National Service (ZNS) has dispatched a team of engineers to Mumbwa to work on the damaged portion of the Landless Corner-Mumbwa road.
The road has been closed following its partial washing away due to heavy rains and the subsequent bursting of Nangoma dam.
Speaking when he toured the damaged road yesterday, Zambia National Service Commander Lieutenant General Maliti Solochi directed the Chief of Land Development Branch (LDB) Brigadier General Japhen Mukanda to ensure that LDB engineers work with Road Development Agency (RDA) to redress the situation and avert possible disaster.
“Work with the team from RDA Kabwe to ensure that the road quickly becomes operational so that movement of people, goods and services resumes and we present potential disaster.
The ZNS Commander called on the Chief to consider reinforcing the number of installed culverts by even six to assure the road of the required strength.
Lieutenant General Solochi undertook the inspection tour of the damaged road in the company of the Ministry of Water Development Permanent Secretary, Airforce Commander Lieutenant General Collin Barry and officials from Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU).
Meanwhile Road Development Agency (RDA) has advised members of the travelling public and transporters who may wish to travel via that road to use alternative routes.
