Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has expressed regret after a leaked video showed him verbally insulting one of his wives, Queen Nomzamo Myeni.
The footage, which circulated widely on social media, captured the king threatening to physically assault the queen, accusing her of infidelity and demanding that she leave their home. The queen, who appeared to be recording the incident, ended the video by saying, “This is the life I live, day and night.”
In a statement, the king’s office said he deeply regretted the pain and embarrassment caused by the video. It added that the recording was old and does not reflect the current state of the royal household.
The statement also said the king and Queen Myeni have since reconciled and continue to carry out official duties together.
The video has sparked mixed reactions online, with some condemning the king’s conduct, while others criticised the release of what they described as a private family matter.
