Judge Resigns
Court of appeal Judge has tendered in a resignation to President Hakainde Hichilema.
Hon. Mrs Justice Catherine Kunda Makungu has been a Judge of the Court of Appeal of since she was appointed to the Court in 2017.
Justice Makungu holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia. She completed the Zambia Law Practice Course and was admitted to the Zambian Bar in 1991. She is also a qualified Arbitrator, a Trainer of Trainers in Environmental Law, and holds a Certificate in Diplomatic Practice, Protocol and Public Relations.
Prior to her appointment to the Bench, Justice Makungu practised as an Assistant Advocate at Ellis & Co from 1992 to 1996, Partner at Mulenga & Co. Legal Practitioners from 1997 to 1999, and Principal Advocate at Makungu & Co. Legal Practitioners from 2000 to 2004.
Justice Makungu was appointed Judge of the High Court in 2004. She served as Judge-in-Charge of the Kitwe High Court from 2014 to 2016.
In 2017, Justice Makungu was appointed Judge of the Court of Appeal, where she continues to serve. She has more than twenty-two years of judicial experience.
