ACC BEGINS INVESTIGATING TOURISM PS EVANS MUHANGA
….as Mwamba calls for the immediate suspension of Muhanga for credible investigations to take place

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confirmed that investigations are being conducted on the Permanent Secretary of Tourism and Arts, Mr. Evans Muhanga.
This is according to the letter written by the ACC dated 22nd June 2022 to Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba.
Mr. Mwamba had on 18th May, 2022, reported Mr. Muhanga to the ACC for engaging in unlawful practices and abuse of office.
Mr. Mwamba, who is also Patriotic Front (PF) Presidential Aspirant, stated that the decision by Mr. Muhanga to cancel a validly processed tender related to hunting concessions was a violation of the Zambia Procurement Authority Act of 2020 and other laws.
Mr. Mwamba stated that information had publicly emerged that Mr. Muhanga blatantly defied legal advice from the Attorney General and cancelled the tender.
Mr. Muhanga also annulled the subsequent Hunting Concession Agreement.
Mr. Mwamba stated that another decisions by Mr. Muhanga to fire the Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife, Dr. Chuma Simukonda constituted gross abuse of authority as Dr. Simukonda refused to participate in the illegalities that were being perpetrated by the Permanent Secretary.
Mr. Mwamba has since called on President Hakainde Hichilema to immediately suspend Mr. Muhanga from office until investigations of the matter were completed and facts established.
Mr. Mwamba said this would facilitate for credible investigations to take place without interference and to prevent the suspect from destroying evidence currently under his office
