America Shamed: Trump’s Ape Video Sparks Outrage

06.02.26

America and the world gasped when President Donald Trump posted a video depicting former Barack and Michelle Obama as ‘apes’ this week. Within hours, it was pulled down. But the stain remains.

Media erupted. Al Jazeera called it “deeply racial.” CNN labeled it “a disgrace.” The New York Times spoke of “a collapse of dignity.” Fox News, usually loyal, admitted it was “in bad taste.”

Even Trump’s MAGA base recoiled. Supporters who once defended every word now expressed disgust. “This is shameful,” one wrote. “Not what America stands for.”

Republican senators broke ranks. Mitt Romney condemned it as “racist filth.” Lindsey Graham said it was “beneath the presidency.” Susan Collins called it “a disgrace to our nation.” Mitch McConnell, cautious as ever, declared it “repugnant.” Their words were sharp. Their tone sorrowful.

This was not an isolated act. It echoed a long history. In 1973, Trump’s company was sued for refusing to rent to African Americans.

In 2018, he dismissed African nations as “shithole countries.” In 2017, after Charlottesville, he claimed there were “very fine people on both sides.” Each episode carved a deeper wound. Each revealed a pattern.

Other rants linger in memory. In 2019, Trump told four congresswomen of color to “go back” to their countries, despite three being born in the U.S.

In 2020, he called Black Lives Matter protesters “thugs” and threatened military force. In 2021, he mocked Asian Americans with repeated use of “Kung Flu” to describe COVID 19. Each remark amplified division. Each normalized bias.

This latest video felt like culmination. A sitting president mocking the first Black family in grotesque terms. Not satire. Not humor. Racism, raw and undeniable.

Civil rights leaders mourned. Churches prayed for healing. Families struggled to explain to children why their president mocked the Obamas.

The video vanished from Truth Social. But the disgust lingers. The presidency, once a symbol of unity, now carries the weight of division in the US and the world.

America is left asking: how much more shame can it endure?

  1. Mr. Trump embodies all that is despicable. He is the very representation of evil. By the end of his term, the US will be divided like never before.

He puts up a macho front but deep down he is insecure and afraid of whites loosing their privileged position. An extremely selfish individual.

  2. Trump is loved by all racists around the world and in particular the Americans themselves.
Africa should get rid of all white Americans period….but alas our leaders are corrupt except the 3 brothers of the Sahel
