THE People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) is set to unveil Dolika Banda as its presidential candidate in the 2026 general election.
PAC will announce at their convention scheduled for September 4. And PAC president Andyford Banda says while his party remains open to collaborating with other opposition parties, it will not barter principle for convenience.
Banda adds that Zambia stands at a moment of profound consequence characterised by erosion of public trust and weakening institutions.
Dolika, who is former late President Rupiah Banda’s niece, recently announced her intention to run for office of president in next years’ general election. She said she was convicted that it was time for serious, selfless, and sober leadership.

All in your dreams…
Only UNIP and MMD are the two Parties in Zambia which never carried a Tribal Tag!!
Dolika Banda brings a new type of leader in our midst, a leader that unlike others has come on the political podium focusing on what the country needs and not political fights with other politicians, her announcement seems to have rattled many feathers especially in the ruling UPND mainly because they are used to tainted opposition leaders whom they can twist and turn using what they have against those leaders but for Dolika, they have nothing. She has slithered through unnoticed, and her announcement came as a surprise because they have no formular for a person like Dolika. Their bid worry is how are they going to tackle her politically? they have nothing, so her coming is creating a lot of problems for UPND and upon officially being unveiled, a lot will start to show. Zambians know whom to kick out, but they are yet to choose whom to install.
So Andyford Banda, President of PAC Party will hand over what to Dolika Banda? Is it the Presidency and, if so, has he got power to unilaterally do so without a selection process? And if indeed this is how they practise democracy in that party, you can rest assured, it is doomed to failure.
