CHIEF MPEZENI, SAMPA THE GREAT GET HONOURS
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has honoured Paramount Chief MPEZENI the 4th of the Ngoni People with the Order of the Eagle of Zambia Third Division.
Paramount Chief MPEZENI has been honoured for ensuring his subjects are agriculture oriented and for working with at least six political regimes during his 40-years reign.
The traditional leader was honoured during an Investiture Ceremony of Honours and Awards held at State House today, as part of commemorations of the country’s 59th Independence Anniversary.
At the same event, President HICHILEMA honoured former European Union-EU- Ambassador to Zambia JACEK JANKOWSKI with the Order of the Eagle of Zambia Third Division.
Mr. JANKOWSKI has been recognised for organising and coordinating several high level meetings between Zambia and the EU which include the historical address to the European Union Parliament by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA in June 2022.
The President has also honoured Justice IREEN MAMBILIMA Posthumously for her outstanding service to the nation when she served as the first female Chief Justice of Zambia.
Justice MAMBILIMA also served as Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- Chairperson as well as Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education-ZIALE- Council Chairperson among other portfolios.
Sampa the Great:
SAMPA TEMBO popularly known as Sampa The Great , has also been honoured with the President’s Insignia of Recognition for raising the status of Zambian Music on the Global platform.
At the ceremony, 16 people were recognised with various awards and honours for their distinguished service, bravery and contribution to the country’s wellbeing and development in various sectors.
