Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Alibuzwi has been fired by President Hakainde Hichilema.
The President has since appointed Major General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele as the new army commander with a new rank of Lieutenant General (2nd picture) who was until today the Army Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff.
New Zambia Army Commander
Recalled from Retirement; Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele is the Zambia Army Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff. Prior to his appointment as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff, Zyeele was a Brigadier General.
He was recalled from retirement and promoted to the rank of Major General by Hakainde Hichilema on 29 August 2021.
President HICHILEMA has promoted Major General GEOFFREY ZYEELE to the rank of Lieutenant General and consequently appointed him as Zambia Army Commander .
