OUR CONSTITUTION – THE PEOPLE UNITED CANNOT BE DEFEATED [3 MINS READ]
It’s very clear that the amendments to the Constitution that Mr Hakainde Hichilema wants to make are for his own and UPND’s political benefit, survival, and otherwise.
Mr Hichilema shouldn’t be allowed to change or amend our Constitution to politically and otherwise benefit themselves. The approach Mr Hichilema has taken to amendment the Constitution is not transparent and inclusive and undermines fundamental principles the Zambian people have been trying nurture over the last three decades.
Mr Hichilema should understand that amending the Constitution is a serious matter that should be approached with cold reason and dispassion, ensuring it serves the long-term interests of the nation, not a fleeting political moment.
A constitution shouldn’t be changed lightly. Mr Hichilema shouldn’t be allowed to change the Constitution for what is clearly personal gain or political expediency. What Mr Hichilema has put in Bill 7 are clearly self-serving political or election related amendments.
Our Constitution should not be changed to favour the political survival of Mr Hichilema. Any changes should be prospective, applying to those in the future, not only to benefit those currently in power.
The amendments to the Constitution shouldn’t be reduced to a political game. The Constitution shouldn’t be reduced to a tool to be manipulated for political gain or to address a specific political moment. It should be seen as the foundation of a society, not something to be changed at whim.
It’s very clear that Mr Hichilema doesn’t mean well with his Constitution amendments. There’s no meaningful transparency and inclusivity in his Constitution amendment process. He hasn’t even allowed adequate public discourse. Any attempt to amend the Constitution must be accompanied by a consultative and deliberative process involving an informed citizenry. The public should be fully involved in the discussion and decision-making process. The way Mr Hichilema has gone about his Constitution amendments amounts to secretive amendments.
Constitution amendments should not be made behind closed doors or without widespread public awareness and debate. This really undermines the culture we have been trying to develop over years to protect fundamental principles.
Mr Hichilema’s approach undermines everything we have achieved over the years. Amendments to the Constitution should not weaken fundamental principles like the rule of law or democracy. It’s very clear that Mr Hichilema has no interest in the long-term consequences of his amendments. Any amendments to the Constitution should be carefully considered for its potential long-term impact on the nation and its citizens.
A constitution amendment process of just a few weeks is certainly faulty. A more rigorous process is needed. It shouldn’t be so easy and so quick to amendment the Constitution. It should be a difficult amendment process.
The Constitution should have a difficult amendment process to ensure that changes are well-considered and supported. It should have a supermajority support of the population.
These major Constitution amendments Mr Hichilema wants to make warrant a constitutional convention, where representatives from across the nation can debate and propose changes.
In essence, Mr Hichilema should be made to understand that amending a Constitution should be a serious, transparent, and inclusive process that prioritises the long-term well-being of the nation and its people, not his short-term political interests or those of the UPND.
But Mr Hichilema is not a person who listens to fellow citizens. As I have stated before, he only listens to his inner demons. He does as he wants. What he wants matters more than what the rest of the citizens of this country want. As such, for the citizens of this country to get what they want, they have to outrightly defeat him. This calls for maximum national unity and mass mobilisation.
A people united can never be defeated!
Fred M’membe
President of the Socialist Party

And your daily utterances sound like your inner demon as well which we detest….
So dont bring Venezuela here. Cuba here, Russia here or North Korea here. There nothing about the values of those leaders and your affinity for them that we value here in Zambia. Blood thirty violent leaders have no room in Zambia Mmembe who just want to run down the country for a seat at the high table and their hand in the treasury. That is all you are. A parasite, wanting to dress as an “angel”
A Parasite and a Leech, wanting to dress like a “Revolutionary”, more apt to me!!

I Zambia we always have political noise of one form or another, currently the biggest noise is coming from the constitutional amendment which the government in power like many instances before, is trying by all means to shove down the throats of its citizens. This is not supposed to be the case because in a democracy contentious issues are supposed to be driven by the majority through a referendum whose outcome cannot be questioned because due process has been followed. If government feels this is a very popular bill, why not test it through a referendum instead of shopping for questionable indorsements?
The constitution itself is very clear on how it can be amended and the only part which require a referendum is the bill of rights. Everything other than that part can be amended by parliament only. So using a method not prescribed by the constitution is unconstitution itself. The problem we have in Zambia is that we want to follow the law only when it suits us and discard it if it does not. In life there will always be opposers to something so today they are saying the government is proposing to amend the constitution to prolong it’s stay in office, although they cant even point out the clauses which allude to that, then again even if the government decided to do the process after elections, they will start claiming that the government want extend the term of office so in short, they will still oppose it.
It is the lies by Hakainde that I can not stand.
The things he opposed while in opposition, which are on recorded videos for all to see now, are the same things he is now doing. How was this man made? Their is no honest bone in his body. This is the behaviour of a conman, and we will learn more about his shady behaviour once removed from office. That is why he has glued his buttocks to the chair. We should be subjecting presidential candidates to psychiatric tests to save us from having psychotic presidents. This is not normal at all.
Reject tribalism, corruption and oppression.
God bless Captain Ibrahim Traore.
VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2026.
There’s simply no parliament in the entire democratic world which is not clothed with power to amend some parts of national constitutions so long a certain minimum level of support is marshalled among members of parliament. The minimum level of support is often 2/3 of the members of parliament and not the simple majority that applies to ordinary legislation. That’s simply the way it is.
@Indigo Tyrol, it seems you have consistently overlooked any positive aspects regarding our esteemed president, Hakainde Hichilema. Your comments reflect a deep-seated animosity and tribalism. It may be beneficial for you to recognize and consider a different perspective. A significant issue for many who cling to outdated ideologies is their inability to adapt to change and accept new political realities.
The suggested amendments to the Constitution are not merely intended to benefit the UPND government; they are designed for the betterment of both the government and the people of Zambia. Those who oppose these amendments are not contributing positively to the general populace; rather, their remarks tend to be overly broad and unhelpful. Constructive and meaningful arguments should include alternative proposals that can be considered.
Zambians, along with certain factions of the Church, often excel at opposing and raising alarms about straightforward issues. Many individuals are consumed by a fear of the unknown.
Are those checks and balances????we don’t have opposition parties in Zambia
There’s nothing wrong in amending tbe constitution. This is not the first time it is being amemded.
Infact it is good that this program wilm go on smoothly dispite these vultures and mwankoles making noise.
No one will expect anything good on UPND government coming out of you the dragon mmembe and your friends of the same furtheres like Emmanuel Mwamba, Mutototo kafwaya, Raphael Nakachinda, Mundubile, Lingasan Zulu, Christopher Zumanin, ketty and your big head snake himself Edgaar Aagwa Llungu. Nothing at all.
Otherwise some of these clauses in the constitution that needs amending are long overdue. Clauses like,
1. The 14 dsys adjudication of the preidential election petition. Whether the 14 days includes holidays and weekends it’s not clear the case of 2016 election petition up to now left alot of suspition in the minds of citizen’s. Now this government want this clause to be clearly stated if even holidsy are included or not. This is good for the nation.what is wrong with that.
2. With the increase of CDF to our constituencies, there constituencies which are vast – very big and others which are small. Government therefore wants to delimitate these constituencies so that they can also benefit equitably from CDF Which is very good; talk of, North Western Province which is the second if not third largest or biggest provinces in Zamvia but only have 12 constituencies and some of these constituencies like Kasempa, Mwinlunga, Mufumbwe and Zambezi are very big so big that even the increased CDF is making no significant impact at all even if the CDF has been increased they are not 100% benefiting compared to or with small constituencies. And others may with their evil minds say tbe population is small. A foolish thinking that will come satan mouth – people build where there is nothing so that others can come and occupy that house or flat, people develop where there is nothing so that others can come and be employed. Look at how the population of Solwezi has grown and is growling fast and with the mines opening in Kasempa, the Robito corridoe and Kabimba border post if not also kasenseli gold area or is it mine that is when proper planning for development can take place than the confused we are seeing in some towns where even roads in the compounds are difficult to locate. So politicians who are oposing this bill should be trade very carefully if not wise enough otheteise they risk losing even the ten votes they are suppose to get in 2026 from the vast and big constituencies and areas they are oposing to and refusing to benefit from this natuinal program
People are in the piur watching. This also goes together with additional MPs
3. The issue of a child being aligned in the years. Is that sure a bad thing.
4. The inclusion of youths women and the disabled in the affais of the nation by having assured represatation in parliament what wrong is there.
5.nominations, adding just two members what wrong is there sure.
6. The issue of stopping by- elections by putting something in terms of clause in the constitution to stop this what wrong is there sure.
7. And on nominations and elections if anyone resigns after nominations and imagine if ballot papers has already been printed and to cancel and start afresh then if someone crooked does the same again then you start again. Government want to stop this and make it clesr if anyone who has àlready passed nomination stage resigns elections can go ahead what is wrong with that.
Additionally government has asked citizens to add what they fill is missing or subtract then why crying in tbe tin just to be seen on social meadia. Soil.
Well articulated.
Is this man Human sure? The hate for his friend is beyond humanity. I am just thinks this deep hate, did these two guys drink from the same watering hole at one point or the other in their lives and one is still bitter? You know that sticks and hates.
To Fred, add Indigo, Kafwaya and ECL. A hateful Quartet for you!!!

FredxMembe u are the one possessed with demons. You are a big crook and very evil. You borrowed money for your businesses only to declare yourself bankrupt.Only a crook does that Fred. You evaded paying tax sir not that you were broke. You put that money in your pocket. This is the same money you are now using to fund that socialist party of yours…Edgar Lungu was better than you who has never been in power. Our new slogan is “SAY NO TO FRED MEMBE” .Fred you are evil. You only think about your pocket.Give pension money to your previous workers not insulting us here
Arguing for the sake of that. As tabulated by one of the writers above what is wrong in those issues? What I see is that people just critisise because they are e used to. Nothing wrong in amending the constitution fooling those issues in question. You may dislike some one but when a good thing is done by him appreciate. When time comes for him to leave office he will leave it. I believe he will not behave your favorite who just forced himself to be on a ballot paper just because he had instrument of power. If people of Zambia decide to remove him in 2026 nothing can hinder the process. It the people who decide not constitution amendments. Remember what Edgar did during his time. He tried all he could to prevent HH from contesting but what happened. Where is he now? People are the owners of the reign. Meaning when time comes for change nothing can stop the movement. Around this time this old man was supposed to talk about something which will attract voters to his side in 2026, but alas he is just focussing on HH instead of thinking about something good he will do to people if voted in power. What we expect from opposition now is to hear messages of hope to Zambians who are not satisfied if any to UPND govt.
His inner circle and Zambians, but not from you the Demon agent of Satan. AIKONA MAN
If Fred M’membe wants fair-minded and informed citizens to agree with him, let him explain if the process government has commenced is lawful or not lawful. If it’s unlawful, let M’membe commence court action to stop the whole process. There are parts of the constitution that can be amended by a 2/3 resolution of Parliament and parts that Parliament alone cannot amend. If the gazetted proposals do not convince at least 2/3 of the MPs, they will collapse. If M’membe feels strongly against the proposals, let him write to each and every MP and persuade them to reject the proposed amendments. That’s how democracy works.
Four years down the line, M’membe has never addressed HH as President, it has always been Mr. Hichilema… some people can harbour so much hatred.
That’s unimportant as far as I am concerned. Let M’membe address HH in whatever way he wants. It doesn’t diminish HH’s standing as President of the Sovereign Republic of Zambia and Commander-In-Chief of its armed forces and security services.
I agree with you Sir, though what should be our concern is the “undertone”. Have you ever observed how a White person will never call a Black man “Dr” but “Mr”?
Не всегда,иногда и раньше=)
for example, on cancer stem cells possible influence directly to prevent their destruction growing, perform https://autismtreatmentfrance.com/, or transform into Trojan horses that attack other tumor cells.
M’membe, the lower you sink in your devilish hatred for HH, the higher we rise in our love for him. And we shall very soon demonstrate that to you in August 2026.
Forward ever, Kumbuyo iyayi afuleti!
And you only listen to your small chikala
Satan nyoko
Membe you have now lost your salt! As a man who wants to be a republican president, you call your fellow citizens, demons! What does this imply. Are you an angel? But you can’t be an angel because angels are honest. They can’t evade payment of taxes, a practice you are known for. You can’t be an angel, because angels don’t write rubbish about others. You can’t be an angel because angels don’t have hatred, gradges and jealous against others. Angels are not greedy like you. In case you don’t know, all alliances know your character and egos, no wonder they can’t allow you to be a leader of any people’s alliance.

You are right ▶️. I salute you. Citizens should not just follow blindly minus realizing the true pic of the situation. If the amendment has got no errors why should it be in a negative way a top of agenda day in day out. You are told told add or subtract where you feel it must altered but you are there to just shoot down anything for the sake of getting back your x ruling party. A sane person I believe can not like to get back to the reign we underwent under pf where only the minority enjoyed through plundering. Let’s wake up and see the light of the day. Those with ears let them hear those without let them keep opposing everything.
