MAKEBI ZULU PLEDGES TO COMPLETE NATIONAL HOUSE OF PRAYER
Patriotic Front (PF) Presidential Aspirant Makebi Zulu has reiterated his commitment to completing the construction of the National House of Prayer, a project initiated under the leadership of former President Edgar Lungu.
Speaking during a church service at St. John United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Congregation in Kabwe, Mr. Zulu said the National House of Prayer remains an important symbol of Zambia’s identity as a Christian nation.
He noted that the facility would serve as a unifying place of worship where people from all walks of life can gather to pray, reflect, and seek God’s guidance.
Mr. Zulu said once completed, the National House of Prayer would not only provide spiritual significance but also stand as a national landmark that promotes unity, peace, and moral values among citizens.
He further urged Christians across the country to intensify prayers for peace, stability, and national cohesion as Zambia prepares for the 2026 general elections.
He emphasized that sustained peace is essential for meaningful development and that the country can only progress when citizens remain united.
“There is power in unity of purpose. As Zambians, we must stand together, work together, and pray together for the prosperity of our nation,” he said.
Mr. Zulu encouraged the church to continue playing its role in promoting social harmony and guiding the nation morally, saying the church remains a key partner in fostering national development.

Politicians should never be given the chance to address the congregation. The church is holy ground and must not be turned into a campaign platform.
The so called house of prayer is irrelevant to the spiritual wellbeing of Christians in Zambia. As a chritian, I should have no problem in going to another congregation of a different denomination from mine. We dont need a house built by politians to unite us.
If the house of prayer is built by politicians, it will be controlled by politicians and as such, if you disagree with them, they will find a way of barring you. The idea of a house of prayer is a waste of national resources and must be shelved.
Like the day of prayer, fasting, repentance and reconciliation decreed by a politician, the house of prayer will be of no benefit to the christian community. How has this declaration benefited the nation? The nation is more divided than before the declaration. The irony is that the politician who made the declaration failed to reconcile with his rival and even in death, that rivalry has continued.
We should not mock God by honouring him with our lips when our hearts are far away lest we incur his wrath (Isiah 29:13).
So instead of maybe building a factory to create jobs you want to waste money to finish a useless house of prayer like we dont have enough churches already? No thanks!

Failed project, who told you that Christianity brings development? Religion is the last thing to move the country forward. Zambia has thousands of churches but tell me what impact has it brought?
