Former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa says she is not bankrupt.

This is in a matter in which Finance Bank Zambia Limited petitioned the Lusaka High Court to make a bankruptcy order against her for allegedly failing to settle loans to the bank, in the sum of K 6.8 Million and K 893,831 together with costs in the sum of USD 25,000.

According to an affidavit in support of application to set aside the creditor’s bankruptcy Petition, Dr. Mwanawasa has told the court that it is not true that she has failed to pay the debt.

She says this is because there is another active matter before court aimed at recovering the said debt with hearing commencing on December 9, 2021.
