Miles Sampa has committed a crime, says Hichilema
President Hakainde Hichilema says Matero member of Parliament, Miles Sampa has committed a serious crime to allege that there were secret polling stations during the Chawama by-elections.
Speaking on a phone call made by Ministry of information and Media permanent secretary, Thabo Kawana on Diamond TV last evening, President Hichilema alleged Chawama Constituency was the birth of panga politics stating saying that, the behaviour is now in past as the constituency just experienced free and fair elections.
The Head of State says that citizens must acknowledge things that happen positively as they are for the good of everyone and not selected individuals.
Meanwhile, yesterday, Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) lodged a formal complaint at Lusaka Central Police Station against Sampa stating that the lawmaker spread false information about a fake polling station.
Zambia Police Service spokesman, Godfrey Chilabi has confirmed this development and has disclosed that the service has opened a docket of case for the offense of transmission of unsolicited or deceptive communication contrary to Section 19 of the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025
Chilabi says investigations regarding the matter have started and citizens will be informed of developments made.

It’s the right thing to do, we must start being responsible. We can’t allow people to issue reckless statements in the name of freedom of speech. Let this be a warning to others.
If anyone expects Hakainde and his UPND to thoroughly do a Postmortem of the Chawama bye Election loss, and work on attending to it’s shortcomings, resolve these , and move into the next Election like the Kasama Mayoral Bye Elections , or the Presidential and General Elections, as a normal Party which learnt valuable lessons as is the case in a democracy, you will be disappointed. This is beyond Hakainde and his UPND. They have a different version of Democracy.
They will do what they know best. Repression, Abuse of State Institutions, Violence and Imingalato.
And there it is.The President of Zambia saying Miles Sampa has committed a Crime! Even before the Ink dries on Chawama Ballot Papers.
And the Honorable Matero law Maker Will be bundled to the Police ,already pronounced Guilty by the Head of State..How can the Police and Courts handle the case independently and proffessionally when the President is already saying Hon Miles Sampa has committed a crime?
This is the normal in Hakainde’s Zambia.

He needs to be charged I’ve said already. He broke the law, why are law enforcement agencies slow to act. He knew exactly what he was doing, an mp!
He needs to be arrested, period, he’s so reckless, they want be acting as though they’re above the law and thinking its fine we shall apologize, NO, let the law work fast on these stupid people
They may have made a lot of money from the abused euro bond funds, put money in external stocks and now sponsoring elections and propagandists
The issue here is about a fake story fabricated by Miles Sampa and not Hakainde. Whether Hakainde is gone or still there, Miles Sampa made a crime and this is the same crime which lande his friend Nakachinda in jail. He made some allegations of the President meeting Judges in the night at Community house and later he himself admitted and confirmed that the allegations were not true. This is what exactly Miles Sampa has done confirming that the issue of an un authorized polling station put up by ECZ was false. And he thinks just by a mere apology, the matter can be shelved, it can’t. Sampa should know that the allegations are very serious because they damaged the integrity and the credibility of the UPND, the Government and the Electoral Commission of Zambia on their ability to conduct a free and fair elections this August. The apology came quite alright but the intended damage has already been done and the aggrieved parties can not just keep quiet and leave it like that. So the President is right, Miles Sampa committed a crime and he should be ready to bear the consequences. People should learn to be responsible citizens, it does not pay to concoct a story which is completely unfounded and when the law summons or visits you, then you cry wolf. Sampa is a senior politician and should have avoided such an irresponsible allegation or statement that he made.
