I have joined the møurners in Chilanga as we send off HON Nickson Chilangwa’s wife and and seeing Hon Chilangwa is really heart breåking and all I can do I wonder what happened to our humanity.
Hon Chilangwa appealed his conviction and applied for bail pending the appeal. A bail is a constitutional right that must be granted whether a judge feels you have a chance or not for your appeal to go through, it is provided for in our laws.
BA HH PELENI BA CHILANGWA BAIL.. HE IS A HUMÅN BEING TOO LIKE YOU REMEMBER THAT YOUR FRIENDS WHERE CONSIDERATE WHEN YOU WERE ARRESTED IN OPPOSITION AND THEY SET YOU FREE.

Hon. Binwell Mpundu, it is unwise for you, if not ignorance, to talk about bail. The Court made a determination and you are not even a lawyer to understand the ratio- decidend for grant or deniel of bail of a convict. Your area is passing laws as a Membet of Parliament but interpreting the law is for the Courts.
It is actually you who is ignorant and not Binwell. The question is why has it become a norm or fashionable in this government to deny bail pending an appeal, why?
Are you a lawyer my friend?There are certain procedures to be followed before someone is given bail.You don’t just wake up and give bail.The learned judge knows why bail was not given and those reasons are there for you to read
Bail pending appeal after conviction is no longer a matter of right but purely a matter for the court to decide. The convict has to persuade the court that their appeal has good chances of succeeding in the higher court. If the court is not persuaded, it will turn down the application to appeal. It was in fact the PF in government that presided over the changes to the law.
The one who is very ignorant is you.A church mate of mine is in jail and his father recently died and was denied the right to attend the funeral.chilangwa has been allowed despite the gravity of the crime he was sentenced.how many people have been denied the right to attend their wives funeral koz they are in jail . opposition you are fools for championing the rights of fellow rich opposition and have abandoned the ordinary Zambians
Very true, these PF crooks suffer from an entitlement disease. Unfortunately for them there’s now ‘real’ rule of law!
Because there has been escapes out of the country Chishala. You know all those who ran away or are you on jupiter and don’t have a clue what is happening on earth? Bail is on the discretion of the court and not mandatory and for PF crooks in particular, it has been abused. That is why utmost caution is being exercised. Okey?
I now understand these guys why they just talk talk because they think when taken to court they will just get a bail and relax at home and continue yaping yaping.
Is it the President’s responsibility to grant bail to prisoners?

Chishala Emmanuel, if you were addressing me, I was addressing Binwell Mpundu myself. Yes, I am a lawyer with over 30 years at the bar. Check what Gunner has written. That is the legal position.
At some point, in the very near future, it will be UPND members going through this same incarnation and injustice. There will be no sympathy from anyone not associated with UPND. That time will come, as sure as one day Hakainde will not be president.

Its criminals that will face the law. The law doesnt visit aimlessly. This shallow perception persists with you. Chilangwa has found himself in this position as a puppet. Crime doesnt pay. Dont follow aimlessly just you keep yapping about Toure without fact checking. Look at how Trump embarassed himself. Check facts instead of zealously following blindly in the process comitting a crime.
He is a flight risk therefore cannot be given bail. Look at all those who ran away such as Kaiser, Jay Jay, tayali etc.
I think these chaps have noticed some soft heart or weaknesses. Prison is a place to reform. He is even privileged to appear there. How many prisoners have that privilege?Let’s be civil and respect one another and not be cry babies for our own irresponsible behaviour. We can only develop when there is discipline, responsibility, hard work, honesty, respect of the Law, orderliness etc. He should have known better.
Exactly…some people are so delusional. They think reality should be created for them.
Last time chilangwa went in hibernation therefore the government can’t trust that man for security reasons.
There’s no law that provides for temporary release from jail to attend family engagements. This was purely administrative discretion.
