We are willing to address whatever concerns Lungu family has after burial – Hichilema
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says he is conscious of the feelings and concerns of the family of late former president Edgar Lungu and he is willing to listen to their concerns once Lungu is given a dignified send off.
Appearing on the ‘Africa Here and Now’ podcast, President Hichilema stated that a number of the issues that the family is raising can be dealt with after giving his predecessor an honourable burial.
He also apologised for exposing the family, Zambians and the world at large to what he described as an unfortunate situation.
“We are also conscious of the feelings of the family, the concerns that they have. A number of those can be dealt with after an honourable burial and we are available to do that. But we are sorry about exposing the family, the country, the region, the world to this unfortunate situation,” he explained.
The Head of State said he was confident that the standoff between government and the family will end sooner than many expect.
Never apologize to the ungrateful, uncivilized, arrogant thieves.
Why are you calling Hakainde an ungrateful, uncivilised and arrogant thief?. But you might have a point. Carry on soldier.

Whatever you do Mr. President, don’t cave in and exercise undue influence to let off this family in relation to their court cases. I don’t know what transpired during your negotiations with Mr. Rupiah Banda in the aftermath of the 2021 elections but it seems like you gave the late former president certain assurances which you really had no authority to.
For far too long, thieving leaders have been let off the hook sending a clear message that Zambia is a looters’ paradise. As long as thieves are not held to account, our country will continue to haemorrhage billions of dollars and we will never develop. A clear message must be sent that there will be no rest for thieves.
So whatever you do Mr. President, don’t exchange the “dignified burial” for the freedom of those who stand accused of looting our treasury. It will be a huge mistake you will live to regret.
You can exercise leniency after the due process of the law as provided for by our constitution.

Mr president, you are a very wise leader! May the almighty Lord continue taking care of you. But please do not let the buffoons swerve you into a trap. The other mountain is built up of sophisticated corrupt, thievery, hard hearted criminals, who do not appreciate the concept of reconciliation and forgiveness.
