ZAMBIANS LIVING IN FEAR

…arrest of Dr Fred M’membe is evidence of shrinking democratic space – Aka

COUNCIL of Elders member Dr Akashambatwa Mbikusita-Lewanika says Zambians are living in constant fear under the United Party for National Development (UPND) government.

And Patriotic Front (PF) acting national chairperson Jean Kapata says hostility against the opposition has grown so intense that most mobilisation activities, including the former ruling party’s upcoming elective General Conference will be held in secret.

Speaking when he featured on the Emmanuel Mwamba Verified (EMV) podcast on Monday night, Dr Mbikusita-Lewanika warned Zambians not to allow anyone to trample on their civil rights.

“A number of citizens are living in fear because law enforcement agencies are undermining our people’s civil rights. Our civil rights are second to none, and there should be no human being whose human rights are more respected than his own,” Dr Mbikusita-Lewanika said- The Mast

  1. There is a difference between a child who follows the rules set in a home and one who chooses to be rebellious. A child who is obedient will enjoy his sanctuary while the rebellious child will face the wrath of the parents. Parents who spare the rod spoil the child and this is Biblical.
What is happening now can only be understood by those that believe in a disciplined nation.
Zambia is coming from a period where anyone who owned an android phone and a facebook account or such an enabling application would willingly broadcast toxic verbal diarrhea and those in misleadership would cut a fat CHEQUE in appreciation for the package of insults unleashed on respected elders.
They worshipped why me and even sponsored his refuge after giving him the tag of ‘Politician’!
Now, these can only be said to be adult delinquents who could have messed up Zambia and, for them, the law was none existent.
The New Dawn administration is lead by sober men and women. Both the President of UPND and the Vice President are Real Christians who want a sober nation and they lead by example.
They do not do this for the camera or perception for political gain.
You know them by their actions. They want even the poorest of the poor to have education for free, though the remnants of PF are still distorting funds from poor Zambians to get space in public institutions. They do this in order to make the government look like they are just political and that they are liars.
In like manner, the opposition have deliberately gone against the law in the hope that the government can be scandalized in the manner Mmembe and other adult delinquents are displaying. This can only be an act of playing to the galary.
Zambians understand that Mmembe is not clean and Akashambatwa too is a disgrace. Aka was recently dropped from the Barotse Royal Establishment as Senior Chief because of his indisciplined nature. He could not lead because he himself needed constant correction. He, therefore, does not qualify to talk about decent leadership or freedom of expression. He sees nothing wrong with people opening their mouths without weighing the implications or consequences of the words that come out of ther mouths, more so that there are youths who might be looking upto them.
This country needs leaders that will bring dignity to the country and not those that will say things to entertain short sighted fellows in the name of freedom of expression.
Such leaders have had a hand in negatively shaping youthful leaders like Binwell, Munir and ‘undertaker’. I have deliberately left out propagandist Mwamba and his fellow self -exiled and slowly reforming Tayali.
HH means business and those that want to dare the law will be on their own.
