KAWANA PRAYS FOR GOD’S INTERVENTION AMID EFFECTS OF DROUGHT

Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has prayed for God’s intervention amid the hardships Zambians are faced with emanating from the drought the country experienced during the 2023/2024 farming season.

Officiating at the World Day of Prayer Africa Conference at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross, in Lusaka today, Mr Kawana said the drought or any other continental crisis reflect broken relationships between humanity and creation.

He stressed the need for stakeholders to advocate for dignity and the wellbeing of the most vulnerable and the future generation.

“As you may be aware, Zambia is in a state of disaster, triggered by the worst ever drought. And as a Christian nation we are looking to God for divine intervention. The drought, or indeed any other continental crisis we face today reflect broken relationships between humanity and creation,” he said.

“As government of the republic of Zambia, we believe in a community governed by mutual care and compassion.”

Mr Kawana implored delegates to focus on the need to strengthen partnership with the governments.

“As government, we are prepared to work alongside the church on its journey of justice, peace, reconciliation, and unity,” he said.

“We remain committed to partnering with the church and all faith based organizations to help build the future, a future that reflects God’s vision for humanity.”
