MUSEVENI: ‘I’M NOT A POLITICIAN, I’M A FIGHTER FOR PROSPERITY’
President Yoweri Museveni has described himself as a “fighter for prosperity” rather than a politician, as he intensified his campaign for the NRM candidate in the upcoming Adjumani West parliamentary by-election.
Museveni, who is also the NRM National Chairman, made the remarks on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, while addressing residents at Paridi Stadium in Adjumani District in support of the party’s candidate, Leku James Pilli.
“I don’t see myself as a politician, but as a fighter for prosperity,” Museveni said, stressing that his focus is on improving the economic well-being of Ugandans.
He also stated that “NRM is not a political party,” as he highlighted the ruling party’s emphasis on production, wealth creation and household economic empowerment.
Museveni’s remarks are in line with his long-standing message that Ugandans should focus on creating wealth and improving household incomes rather than viewing politics as a means of personal gain.
