ADULTERY HAS BECOME A CULTURE, LAMENTS Rev Walter Mwambazi.
He writes ✍️
On Repeat Sin (Bad Behavior/Habits) 🔊
👉🏾 First time—mistake
👉🏾 Second time—decision
👉🏾 Third time onward—culture
We must be honest: what we’re witnessing today in many circles is not just isolated moral failure – it’s the formation of culture. A culture of adultery. A culture of compromise. A culture of excuse-making. And once sin becomes culture, it seeks legitimacy. It demands tolerance. It even dares to call itself “normal.” 🤨
But Scripture is not silent.
📖 “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” — Hebrews 13:4
📖 “You shall not commit adultery.” — Exodus 20:14
📖 “Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor adulterers… will inherit the kingdom of God.” — 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Adultery is not just a private failure – it’s a public fracture. It breaks covenant. It erodes trust. It destabilizes families. And when normalized, it poisons the moral fabric of communities.
Let’s be clear: polygamy is not a license for adultery.
Yes, polygamy existed in ancient times, but it was often accompanied by strife, jealousy, and divine correction. Consider Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon – each bore the consequences of divided affections and household conflict. The New Covenant calls us higher:
📖 “Each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.” — 1 Corinthians 7:2
📖 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.” — Ephesians 5:25
This is not about legalism—it’s about integrity.
It’s about honoring the sacred covenant of marriage.
It’s about resisting the cultural drift that excuses betrayal as “just human nature.”
🛑 Let’s stop dressing up sin with cultural language.
🛑 Let’s stop using historical exceptions to justify present rebellion.
🛑 Let’s stop calling compromise “grace” when it’s really just permissiveness.
Instead, let’s rebuild a culture of faithfulness, repentance, and honor.
Let’s teach our sons and daughters that covenant matters.
Let’s model marriages that reflect the love of Christ – not the lusts of the flesh.
Because when sin becomes culture, only truth can break the cycle.
And truth, when spoken in love, still sets people free. 🔥
