FDD CALLS ON CHURCH, FAITH GROUPS TO PRAY AHEAD OF 2026 POLLS

By Constance Shilengwe

THE Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) has called on the Church and other faith groups to stand firm as Zambia prepares for the general elections on 13th August, 2026.

FDD National Spokesperson Anthony Chibuye says the Church has a responsibility to speak against injustice and abuse of power, noting that Zambia has affirmed the sovereignty of God.

Mr. Chibuye has urged the Church, the Muslim community and the Hindu community to unite in prayer for the country, claiming that many Zambians are struggling while national interests are being surrendered to foreigners.

He has further raised concern over the enactment of Act Number 13 of 2025, rising poverty levels, and alleged political interference in the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

Mr. Chibuye says addressing these issues will require both political courage and spiritual intervention to safeguard Zambia’s democracy.
