GPZ PROPOSES PROVINCIAL MINISTERS, DEPUTY AND ASSISTANT MINISTERS
THE Golden Party of Zambia has unveiled a bold proposal to restructure the Cabinet, ensuring greater regional representation and improved governance across the country.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, GPZ President Jackson Silavwe said the party intends to propose that each of Zambia’s ten provinces have a full Cabinet Minister appointed by the President from outside Parliament.
“Each provincial minister will be an indigenous person and a resident of the province they represent,” Mr. Silavwe said.
“This will guarantee that every province has a voice in Cabinet and ensure that national policies are effectively communicated to local communities.”
Mr. Silavwe also proposed the reintroduction of Deputy Ministers and the creation of Assistant Deputy Ministers.
“A minister needs support to manage large ministries efficiently. That is why we are proposing a three-tier political leadership structure: Minister, Deputy Minister, and Assistant Deputy Minister,” he explained.
He addressed concerns about costs, noting that “the question is, has the situation improved after the removal of deputy ministers? Ministries are huge, and having deputies ensures better implementation of government policies and our party’s manifesto.”
According to Mr. Silavwe, the proposals are aimed at addressing tribal and regional representation in Cabinet, improving information dissemination, and ensuring efficient political oversight of all ministries.
The GPZ President said the party will engage with Zambians to seek support for these constitutional reforms.
