IBA MOURNS SWITHIN HAANGALA
Lusaka, 18th March, 2022 – The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has learnt with sadness the passing away of Zambezi FM proprietor Mr. Swithin Haangala.
The death of Mr. Haangala has robbed the media sector of a radio legend whose career spans decades.
The Authority will remember Mr. Haangala for his contribution to the broadcasting sector through the establishment of Zambezi FM in Livingstone, and his involvement in production of various radio content.
He was particularly passionate about awareness programmes on Kidney failure. To this effect, Zambezi FM dedicates the month of March towards raising awareness on the subject and featuring people who are on dialysis on the breakfast show for them to share their challenges and experiences. Mr. Haangala was also a brain child of programmes on Zambezi radio aimed at demystifying autism and extending support to affected children and their families.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, members of staff of Zambezi FM and colleagues of the late Mr. Haangala.
