MULWANDA CRITICISES OPPOSITION OVER CALLS TO ECZ ON NEW CONSTITUENCIES

By Pride Nyirenda

KENNEDY Mulwanda, the UPND presidential campaign team Luanshya District Vice Chairperson, has castigated opposition political leaders for what he described as undue pressure on the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to immediately list the 70 new constituencies.

Speaking to RoanFM News, Mr Mulwanda said opposition figures such as Economic Freedom Fighters President Mwenda Kasonde should be the last to call upon the ECZ, noting that they were among those who opposed the enactment of Bill 7 into law.

Mr Mulwanda observed that some districts, such as Lufwanyama, are vast and require deliberate interventions to enhance representation and service delivery. He said only well-meaning leaders can appreciate the importance of Bill 7 and the vision of President Hakainde Hichilema to take development to every district and corner of the country, unlike leaders who, in his view, do not prioritise inclusive development.

He further said Zambians should by now clearly understand the character of the opposition, noting that just a few days ago they rejected Bill 7, yet today they want to champion provisions they never supported. Mr Mulwanda described this conduct as hypocritical and misleading to the public.
