Tributes pour in as Obama’s grandmother Mama Sarah dies aged 99

0

Tributes are pouring in for Sarah Obama, the step-grandmother of former U.S. President Barrack Obama. Mama Sarah, as she was fondly called, died on Monday morning at a hospital in western Kenya. She was 99. Family spokesperson Sheikh Musa Ismail said she had been unwell for a week.

The matriarch of former President Obama’s Kenyan family, Mama Sarah promoted education for girls and orphans in her rural Kogelo village. “The passing away of Mama Sarah is a big blow to our nation. We’ve lost a strong, virtuous woman. A matriarch who held together the Obama family and was an icon of family values,” Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta said.

“She was a philanthropist who mobilized funds to pay school fees for the orphans,” Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o said while offering his condolences to the people of Kogelo village.

President Obama’s half-sister, Auma Obama, said her “heart is broken”. “Just lost the most important person in my life – my gran, Mama Sarah. My heart is broken! But as I write, not able to stop the tears from pouring, I know I was blessed to have her for so long! My inspiration, my rock, my comfort zone, my safe space. Rest in peace Dani!” she tweeted.

Family sources say President Obama has been informed of the death and has sent his condolences.

Mama Sarah was the second wife of President Obama’s grandfather. She helped take care of President Obama’s father, Barack Obama, Sr. President Obama first met her during his 1988 trip to Kenya. He referred to her as “Granny” in his memoir, “Dreams from My Father”, and mentioned her again in his September 2014 speech to the UN General Assembly.

Mama Sarah was known for selling porridge and doughnuts at a local school. She later rose to world fame following the 2008 election of her step-grandson as the first Black U.S. president. She attended his first inauguration as president in 2009.

For years, Mama Sarah helped orphans through The Mama Sarah Obama Foundation, providing school materials, school fees, medical needs, among others. She loved education and saw to it that all the children of her family went to school. She was honored by the United Nations in 2014, receiving the inaugural Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Education Pioneer Award for her work supporting education.

She will be buried Tuesday. The funeral will be held under Islamic rites.

GOVERNMENT’S PREPAREDNESS FOR AUGUST 2021 ELECTIONS
==============================================

As the country prepares itself for the presidential and general elections, which will take place on Thursday 12 August 2021, we wish to look at government’s preparedness for the exercise.

Last week we established that preparations for a next election begin when one election is over. The 2016 elections ended on Tuesday 13 September 2016, after the president-elect was inaugurated. Preparations for the 2021 elections were therefore supposed to begin the following day, 14 September 2016.

On Friday 21 October 2016, Government appointed a Commission of Inquiry to examine the voting patterns and electoral violence that had characterised various elections since the 2006 presidential and general elections of 28 September 2006.

Was this exercise needed?

Last week we established also that the first activity of preparing for a next election ought to be an elections post-mortem. Lessons learnt from past performance would then help to plan to do better in the next election. The Commission of Inquiry that government appointed was thus meant to carry out a post-mortem of the elections. This was an excellent move by government.

The Commission brought out far-reaching observations and lessons learnt from past elections and by-elections since 2006 presidential and general elections. On the basis of those observations and lessons learnt, the Commission made various recommendations, which were meant to be implemented in planning to do better in the 2021 presidential and general elections.

The Commission made a total of thirty-three (33) recommendations. Today we are looking at the first recommendation. We wish to examine how much government has done to implement the recommendation, in its preparations to do better in the 2021 presidential and general elections.

The recommendation reads as follows:

“Government should take steps to remove barriers to the participation of all citizens in the election process” (Report of The Commission of Inquiry into Voting Patterns and Electoral Violence, January 2019, p. xvi).

The Commission further proposed specific measures to implement this recommendation. One of the measures is as follows:

“The ECZ, in undertaking voter registration, should ensure that all eligible citizens are on the voters‘ register. Government should ensure that there is close collaboration between the ECZ and the Department of National Registration, Passport and Citizenship, so that mobile voter registration is conducted after the mobile issuance of National Registration Cards or the two exercises are done simultaneously. This will ensure that citizens who have reached the voting age can register as voters for the immediate upcoming election (p. 174).

What steps has government taken to implement this recommendation?

We have observed that government has implemented this recommendation in REVERSE. While the recommendation was meant to promote inclusiveness in the electoral process, government has excluded many eligible voters from the electoral process. While this recommendation was meant to add more new voters into the voters’ register, government has decided to delete the voters’ register and come up with a totally new one, consequently excluding many duly registered voters from participating in the 2021 presidential and general elections.

Instead of ensuring that all eligible voters are on the voters‘ register, government has done the opposite.

The report of the Commission was tendered to government in January 2019. Government should have immediately embarked on taking steps towards implementing this recommendation. By February 2020, government should have embarked on mobile issuance of National Registration Cards and registration of voters simultaneously. Government should have begun to capture the youth who had reached the voting age into the voters’ register. On the whole government should have, by February 2020, begun to UPDATE the voters’ register.

Government has however neglected to implement this critical recommendation. This has therefore rendered the work of the CI an exercise in futility. It has been rendered a waste of time and a waste of resources.

What this implies is that government has not adequately prepared for the 2021 presidential and general elections.

On this recommendation “the Commission notes that elections must be inclusive to provide equal opportunities for all eligible citizens to participate as voters in selecting their representatives …” (p. 174).

Conversely, the 2021 elections are NOT inclusive. Many eligible voters have not been provided with the opportunity to participate as voters.

Government has deliberately taken away from its own people their RIGHT TO VOTE.

This is very sad.

The Daughter Of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, Israella Dies in Kenyan hospital

Self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri on Monday announced the death of his daughter, who had been hospitalised.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing on of my daughter, Israella Bushiri,” he said in a post on social media.

“As a father it was my desire to see her grow and serve the Lord, however, the will of God was for her to return back to Him.”

Bushiri said she had always offered his wife Mary and himself “great comfort and enlightenment”.

Last month, the Enlightened Christian Gathering pastor’s daughters and mother-in-law were prevented from leaving Malawi to travel to Kenya. Subsequently, Israella was allowed to travel for treatment.

The Malawian government said she required a bone marrow donation.

On Monday, Bushiri said that a doctor had advised that if she had not been blocked at the airport the first time she needed to travel to Kenya for medical assistance, she may not have died. “It is very disheartening and sad, therefore, that my daughter has become a victim of the persecutions that we are facing from SA,” he said.

He described his daughter as a strong young girl who loved to worship and serve God, despite her young age.

Bushiri said he and his wife choose not to mourn her but to celebrate her life.

The couple were expected back in a Malawian court on Monday in their extradition case.

They had fled SA a week after being released on R200,000 bail by the Pretoria magistrate’s court. Shortly after leaving, Bushiri said in a Facebook post that they had left the country for their safety.

The Bushiris and their co-accused – Landiwe Ntlokwana, Willah Mudolo and his wife Zethu – face charges of theft, money laundering and fraud in connection with an alleged R100m investment scheme.

The Bushiris’ bail conditions barred them from travelling outside SA.

Full Statement From Prophet Shepherd Bushiri:

It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing on of my daughter, Israella Bushiri.

As a Father it was my desire to see her grow and serve the Lord, however, the will of God was for her to return back to Him.

Israella was born during a time when my wife and I were going through great persecution, and she has lived her life witnessing what it means to fight and labor for the Lord despite trials and battles.

She came at a time when we really needed her and through it all, she offered my wife and I, including the entire church great comfort and enlightenment.

We are a church built on faith and if we aren’t careful to observe the ways of the Lord, we can mistake God’s will for God’s punishment.
If things could be reversed we would have desired it to be so. However, the will of the Lord is above our desires. We have experienced it and have accepted it.

Israella
Israella

We are a church of God’s love and strength and His love and strength will carry us forward from this day forward.

Israella was a strong young girl who loved to worship and serve God, despite her young age. She was brilliant in her speech and possessed a divine excellency in the way she spoke and even tackled her studies.

Today, all those that encountered her testify that they felt a certain special aura that oozed divinity. She was a walking angel. In our darkest moments she gave us light and in our lowest moments, she lifted our spirits. I am grateful to God to have fathered an angel of such spirit and beauty. She will always be my little girl.

When I spoke to the Doctor, he highlighted that if she had not been blocked at the airport the first time she needed to travel to Kenya for medical assistance, she wouldn’t have passed on.

It is very disheartening and sad, therefore, that my daughter has become a victim of the persecutions that we are facing from South Africa.

However, my wife and I, bow to God’s sovereignty and as this is his will, it could have happened anyway.

Today, my wife and I choose not to mourn her but to celebrate her life. I do not believe that the devil could take the life of my daughter.

She was a child of God and she passed on to be with Him according to His will. We prayed and we fasted, we commanded out- and in this week, when the Lord spoke to me that it will be a week of His will- His will has taken place.

Family, join me, not in mourning as those without hope but in celebrating the life of Saint Israella. She shall always be remembered and forever carried in our hearts.

1 Thessalonians 4:13, “Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”

I will be addressing the general public at exactly 12.00 hrs (CAT) on ALL our official social media platforms as well as Prophetic Channel.

God bless you!

Barack Obama’s Kenyan grandmother dies aged 99

Sarah Obama, the grandmother of former US President Barack Obama, has died aged 99 in western Kenya, her daughter told AFP Monday.

“It is true she has gone to be with the Lord,” said an emotional Marsat Onyango, her daughter, “she passed on this morning.”

Sarah Obama, popularly known as Mama Sarah, had been admitted to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.

Once a simple country woman, Sarah Obama was for a long time best known for the hot porridge and doughnuts she served at a local school.4E4F728000000578-0-image-a-1_1531746498971

But she rose to world fame with the 2008 election of her step-grandson Barack as the first black US president.

Already a national celebrity after the former Illinois senator Barack Obama visited Kenya in 2006, Sarah’s modest homestead became a tourist attraction with Obama’s November 2008 election triumph.

Born in 1922 in a village on the shores of the glittering waters of Lake Victoria, Sarah was the third wife of Hussein Onyango Obama, President Obama’s grandfather, a herbalist and a village elder who fought for the British in Burma, now called Myanmar.

Onyango Obama, who died in 1975, is said to be the first man to swap goatskin clothing for trousers in his village. He returned from the war in Burma with a gramophone and a picture of a white woman he claimed to have married.

Although not a blood relation, President Obama often refered to Sarah as his grandmother, calling her “granny”.

On his trip back to Kenya as US president, he met with her among other family members in Nairobi.

After leaving office, he traveled to her home in the village of Kogelo in 2018, joking he had been unable to do so in 2015 as his jet was too big to land in Kisumu.

Obama is linked to his Kenyan family via his father Barack senior, a pipe-smoking economist who Obama has admitted he “never truly” knew.

He met Barack Obama’s mother, Ann Dunham, in Hawaii. But he walked out when Obama was just two and died in a car crash in Nairobi in 1982, aged 46.obama_1770973c

Obama senior had worked in the government of Jomo Kenyatta, who led Kenya at independence from Britain until his death 14 years later in 1978.

The two men did not get on well, with Kenyatta — the father of Kenya’s current president Uhuru Kenyatta — sacking Obama senior, and blackballing him for further government jobs, an ostracisation that would help fuel alcoholism.

HH is too desperate and has sent Mr. Akafumba to destroy NDC – Charles Kabwita

0

By Charles Kabwita

The National Democratic Congress, NDC, is saddened by the UPND leader Mr. Hakainde Hichilema’s desperation to send the former vice president of the NDC, Mr. Joseph Akafumba, to try and destroy the party.

Mr. Akafumba has, among many things, called on NDC members to stand on the UPND ticket, clearly against what the party has been telling its members. The NDC will be fielding candidates at all levels in the 2021 elections and has urged its members to ignore the calls by Mr. Akafumba with the contempt that they deserve.

‘This destruction of the party will not work because Akafumba is only one person. We appointed him to act as vice president as we waited for the Congress, so where did he get the powers to expel our leader and do all the things he’s doing now?’ Asked NDC National Youth Chairman Mr. Charles Kabwita.

‘And for madam Bridget Atanga, her work was just based at the farm where she stays. She does not even know where the Provincial Chairman for Lusaka lives. She lives in Lusaka but never had time to inspect the structures of NDC. We merely kept her on the basis that we wanted to incorporate men and women. Mrs. Atanga challenge me, which by election did you ever attend in the NDC since the time you were appointed as deputy SG and subsequently SG? Mr Akafumba, even just in Lusaka where you live, you do not know where the ward Chairman lives,’ Mr Kabwita said.

Mr. Kabwita challenged the former NDC vice president to mention the names of the ward chairmen where he lived. He explained that to claim that Mr Akafumba could sustain the NDC and make the so called UPND Alliance succeed was a political dream that would never come to reality.

‘HH is so desperate that he first of all started destroying NAREP. I think Mr. Charles Nyirenda can attest to this. After that, he then used Akafumba to try and destroy NDC. It will not work. And if HH can have these kinds of evil plans against fellow opposition parties when he is in opposition I shudder to think what he would do to opposition parties in the country once he’s given state power’ stressed Kabwita.

Mr. Kabwita also regretted that the campaign of tribalism that Mr. Akafumba had started would just work against him. He explained that if people would take stoke of the people that had risen against Dr. Chishimba Kambwili, led by Akafumba and Atanga, an unfortunate pattern would be established.

I would like to commend the youths of the NDC for the bold decision that they have taken to side with the party and it’s leader. This is how it should be. Nonentities always want to be heard, but who can Akafumba address? He normally has 35 people watching countrywide when he has a press conference. Akafumba today is known by a few people because of CK and NDC, who knew about him before this? What political plan or strategy can Akafumba offload.

We held a by election in Roan and other places, Akafumba was no where to be seen, because the man is politically impotent. He does not even know what it takes for one to be vice president. Whatever setbacks we have faced, it should not worry the leadership and membership of the party. It’s a temporal set back. It shall come to pass and the owners of the NDC will be known.

If you have noticed, Mr Akafumba wants to destroy, Dr. Kambwili wants to safeguard. So who is the real owner of the NDC? Food for thought.

Mr. Kabwita further explained that the NDC had a Lozi vice president, Tonga SG, Lozi Spokesperson, Lozi Chairperson for Education and Lozi Chairperson for Tourism, among many others, and to claim that Dr. Kambwili was tribal was very malicious and laughable. He said that the deliberate plan to spread falsehoods to try and destroy Dr Kambwili and the NDC showed that HH and Mr Akafumba did not mean well for the politics and well being of the nation. He urged people to open their eyes, observe what was going on and judge for themselves.

OUR FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS; KICK OUT THE ENTIRE PF – Percy Chanda

PRESS STATEMENT

29 TH MARCH 2021

OUR FUTURE IS IN OUR HANDS; KICK OUT THE ENTIRE PF

Zambia is a very rich Country and with a very small population. It’s therefore extremely embarrassing to have a very poor citizenry. It’s unforgivable that majority Zambians under PF cannot afford three meals a day, send their children to school and cannot access quality medical services due to corruption resulting in Zambians being exposed to expired drugs. Zambians are suffering due to poor and corrupt PF leadership.

Therefore it will be suicidal for anyone to spare PF because you were given a bicycle, chicken, goat, meale meal or money. For any meaningful change never leave any PF candidate behind. We have a duty and responsibility to kick out the entire PF leadership. There is nothing like sparing a humble or relative thief. A thief is a thief .The entire PF must go. The future of this County is in our hands, we all need to vote responsibly for HH and UPND.

We must all focus on reclaiming our Country from the wrong hands of PF. This issue of saying TWALI IDUNUNA after voting wrongly should not arise this year. Your vote must deliver a better Zambia otherwise we all perish. You must realize that PF is giving you all sorts of things because of your vote, not because they care for you. Once you vote for PF that will be the end of the relationship. No more handouts from PF or the so called empowerment. Simply do a water melon on them. Receive and chew whatever they give you but vote for HH and UPND to deliver Zambia from poor and corrupt PF leadership.

PF is desperate of winning this year’s elections because of what they have done to you and this Country and also to continue with their criminal activities. Since when did you see a thief or indeed any criminal being too kind to his victims? On the other hand you have HH and UPND willing to save you from this cruel PF leadership. The future of this Country is in our hands through that vote. Your choice is between life and death. We have done it before, even this year we are going to do it together. HH and his team are ready to give you a better Zambia.

Many Wounded As 2 Suicide Bombers Hit Church In Indonesia On Palm Sunday

Two suspected suicide bombers blew themselves up outside a Catholic church in the Indonesian city of Makassar on Sunday, March 28, wounding about 20 people on the first day of the Easter Holy Week.

National police spokesman Inspector General Argo Yuwono said at a press conference in Jakarta that the worshippers suffered from wounds around their necks, chests and legs. Some had blisters on their hands and feet. 20 worshippers wounded as two suicide bombers target church in Indonesia on Palm Sunday 2

The explosion occurred when the congregation had been inside the church on the island of Sulawesi, South Sulawesi police spokesman E Zulpan told Reuters.

The two suspected suicide bombers are confirmed dead, said Coodinating Minister for Polical, Legal and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD.

The minister said he has ordered the police and military to increase security in places of worship throughout Indonesia.

South Sulawesi police chief Merdisyam said that five church staff members and four worshippers are among the wounded. Due to health restrictions, there were few people in attendance at mass.

The two suspected bombers had arrived at the church around 10.20am on a motorcycle, said Mr Yuwono. They tried to enter the cathedral but a security officer stopped them.

“Then the explosion happened. Based on information on the ground, the vehicle is destroyed, there are several human remains, and of course this will be part of our investigation.” said Yuwono.

Father Wilhemus Tulak, a priest at the church, told Indonesian media that a person who was holding off a suspected suicide bomber was wounded.

Security camera footage showed a blast that blew flame, smoke and debris into the middle of the road. Photos from the scene showed police had set up a cordon around the church and cars parked nearby were damaged.

Police did not say who might be responsible for the attack and there was no immediate claim of responsibility. Police are investigating whether the suspects belong to a network, said Mr Yuwono.

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Joko Widodo has condemned the attack, and called on the public to remain calm.

“I strongly condemn the act of terrorism and I have ordered the police chief to thoroughly investigate the perpetrators’ networks and expose the network to its roots,” said the president, known popularly as Jokowi, in an online live broadcast,” he stated.

“Terrorism is a crime against humanity and has nothing to do with any religion. All religious teachings reject terrorism. The entire state apparatus will not tolerate this kind of terrorism, and I ask the public to remain calm and carry out worship because the state guarantees the security of religious people to worship without fear,” he added.20 worshippers wounded as two suicide bombers target church in Indonesia on Palm Sunday 5

Jokowi also asked the public to work together to fight terrorism and radicalism.

“For the victims who were injured, we pray that they are given a speedy recovery and the state guarantees all medical expenses and care for the victims,” said Jokowi.

Boy Rafli Amar, the head of the country’s National Counterterrorism Agency, described Sunday’s attack as an act of terrorism.20 worshippers wounded as two suicide bombers target church in Indonesia on Palm Sunday 4

Makassar Mayor Danny Pomanto said Sunday’s blast could have caused far more casualties if it had taken place at the church’s main gate instead of a side entrance.

“Whatever the motive is, this act isn’t justified by any religion because it harms not just one person but others, too,” Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Indonesia’s religious affairs minister, said in a statement.

Gomar Gultom, head of the Indonesian Council of Churches, described the attack as a “cruel incident” as Christians were celebrating Palm Sunday, and urged people to remain calm and trust the authorities.

Lady Gave Birth in a Car Without Knowing She Was Pregnant

0

A woman who had no idea she was pregnant has given birth in an Asda car park just feet away from her partner who was working in the store.

Delyth Jones, 25, thought she was suffering from appendicitis when her contractions started only for her to give birth half an hour later.

When she began suffering contractions, she called paramedics. On their way to the maternity ward, they were forced to stop at the store where Delyth’s sister Kate also works in Pwllheli, Wales.

Meanwhile her partner Dean Stawman, 26, finished his shift there oblivious to the drama that was unfolding just feet away.

He only found out he was a new dad when he got home.

Delyth said: “I’ve had a pain like that before and had been rushed in before, so assumed it was something similar. I phoned my mum and sister thinking it could be back so they came over to help me.

“When they got there the pain changed and the next thing I knew I was on the floor. Then half an hour later he was born.”

Kate said: “We rushed over to help because she wasn’t feeling well and we thought it was appendicitis.

“At one point she said, ‘I think I’m having a baby’, and we laughed. So it was quite a shock when it turned out she was right. She really had no idea she was pregnant. She wasn’t showing and didn’t feel the baby move.”

Delyth said she knew the ambulance had stopped at Asda, but everything happened so quickly after that.

She didn’t have time for any pain relief – “just a couple of gulps of gas and air” – before Harry was born, weighing in at a healthy 7lbs 7oz.

Delyth and Harry were taken to Bangor Hospital for checks, but were home within 24 hours.

She said: “We were going through Pwllheli in the ambulance when they said we were going to have to stop.

“The community midwife was around and jumped in the ambulance at Asda and 10 minutes later he was delivered.

“I said to them, ‘Tell me I haven’t just given birth in Asda’ and they said I had – and that it would be listed as his place of birth on his birth certificate.

“It must be fate that he was born at Asda with our connections there.”

She continued: “It’s been such a whirlwind, but it’s been so good and I have absolutely loved it. I wouldn’t change any of it.

“Dean knew I’d had a couple of pains the night before and knew I wasn’t well, but we decided he should go to work as usual.

“He arrived home just as I was giving birth in Asda. As soon as he found out he was ecstatic.”

KAUNDA DIED FIGHTING FOR ECONOMIC LIBERATION- IMENDA

UPND Secretary General Batuke Imenda says Joseph Kaunda who was shot in cold blood on December 23rd 2020 was fighting to ensure that Zambia was liberated from it’s current economic woes for the sake of his children.

Mr Imenda this morning led an entourage UPND NMC members and District officials in visiting the widow and children of Joseph Kaunda in Kafue.

” On behalf of the party President Hakainde Hichilema and the party, we want to assure you that your husband and father did not die in vain, and the party will not forget him,” he said.

The Party Secretary General, noted that Kaunda died for mother Zambia as he was passionate about bringing change to the country.

” We shall continue to show solidarity to the Kaunda family, because Joseph stood for what was right as seen by his commitment to witness what was happening on that fateful day in December” Mr Imenda said.

Meanwhile, NMC Trustee Mrs Grace Chivube consoled the widow and the family to continue working hard and realise the dream that Mr Kaunda had for his children.

“I know the pain and wound is deep and you may question why you lost a bread winner and pillar of the family but what is important is to remember that it was God’s will and focus on educating the children and providing a better life for them,” Mrs Chivube said.

She observed that the majority of women in Zambia are the ones who are afflicted in this hard economic times, therefore making the Kaunda family situation even more difficult as they come to terms with his death and loss of income.

Meanwhile, Deputy National Women’s Chairperson Mrs Gladys Tavaris encouraged the family to commit everything in God’s hands.

And area UPND member of parliament Miriam Chonya said there’s need to create a fund to help the children for the future.

And the widow, Memory Kaunda thanked the Secretary General and the party for their commitment to supporting the family since the demise of her husband.

The SG and his delegation bought assorted groceries for the family.

Obama Shares Bitter-Sweet Memories of His Dad

0

Former US president Barack Obama has once again opened up to the bitter-sweet relationship he had with his father.

In a tribute shared with American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen on Renegades, the younger Obama explains the only occasion he met his Kenyan father left a positive lasting impact on his life.

“I didn’t really know my father. He left my mother and me when I was two years old and only traveled from Kenya to visit us once when I was ten. That trip was the first and the last I saw of him; after that, I heard from him only through the occasional letter, written on thin blue airmail paper that was preprinted to fold and address without an envelope,” narrates the younger Obama.

The retired president has also revealed how his father introduced him to basketball.

Obama junior played basketball, regarded as the most popular sport in the USA, while in college.

“His short visit had a profound impact on my life. My father gave me my first basketball and introduced me to jazz. But for the most part, the visit left me with more questions than it answered, and I knew I would have to figure out how to be a man on my own.”

The ex-president was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1961 to an American with European descent.

His father was a Kenyan selected for a special program to attend college in the United States and studied at the University of Hawaii where he met his child’s mother namely Ann Dunham in 1961.

Obama junior, married to Michelle and a father of two, also explains how he struggled to connect with his father.

“I had no way to connect with the guy, you know the guy is a stranger who is suddenly in our house”

“In our own ways Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys looking for a way to connect our own individual searches for meaning and the truth,” The former president said.

Obama indeed figured out how to be a man and his political journey conquers. He became the first African-American president in the USA beating Republican Senator, John McCain in 2009.

During Obama’s term in office, the United States’ reputation abroad, as well as the American economy, significantly improved. He was also widely regarded and accepted in Africa.

Low Turn Out Of Aspirants In Upnd Enough Signal Of Their Eminent Defeat – Marvin Chanda Mberi

LOW TURN OUT OF ASPIRANTS IN UPND ENOUGH SIGNAL OF THEIR EMINENT DEFEAT

By Marvin Chanda Mberi

The recent extension of the dates to receive the application for adoption in the long serving opposition UPND might be a calculated move to brush shoulders with the electoral stakeholders and in the long run discredit the outcome of the polls.

We say so because by their very nature UPND is so predictable to seek public sympathy in an event they realize that the reality is not in their way.

We say so having in mind how the UPND shunned the sensitization of their members on the acquisition of National Registration Cards (NRC) yet later they brought biased claims of being disenfranchised.

They disregarded that issuance of NRCs is a continuous process which is done in every district yet the UPND paid willful blindness with a view to create a misrepresentation that the process was not fairly done.

Beside that they have shunned other important National issues among them the 2016 failed referendum, the Constitution of Zambia Bill no. 10 of 2019 with a view to create a vacuum in society which they would use as a tool to politicking.

The recent revelations that there has been low turnout in the applications for adoption cannot be attributed to the Examination Council of Zambia in certifying the Grade 12 certificates.

We wonder why other political parties have not complained of any hurdles in the confirmatory process of their Grade 12 certificates.

This is the lame excuse aimed at accusing the state institutions of disadvantaging them.

It is clearly attributed to the fact that the UPND is no longer a politically attractive political party and has lost faith as the alternative on policy matters.

It no longer the viable and vibrant as it has taken despondency over objectivity as it used to be during the tenure of late Anderson Mazoka as party president.

While it is in their interest to postpone the adoption process, they should bear in mind that the election date is a constitutionally appointed one and it would be irrational to create discontent by forcing electoral stakeholders to dance to their tune.

While it is permissible that a multiparty democracy accommodates the different political interests, it is not permissible for the process to be done at the mercy of one political party.

It is inconceivable that the UPND leadership would extend their internal processes and expect the national programs such as the ECZ schedule to be at their convenience.

Our earnest appeal is that they should constantly be reminded that the election date is 12th August, 2021 therefore it would be unrealistically tenable to request the extension of processes such as the dates appointed and designated as nomination dates as well as the dates to submit the list of adopted candidates.

We cannot be surprised in an event the electoral body rejected their request to adjust the nomination on the basis of the issue of obtaining grade 12 certificates for their candidates.

The low turnout in the UPND adoption is s signal to their rank and file to brace for the imminent defeat but they want to find an excuse to deceive unsuspecting audience that they are likely to be robbed of victory

WHO’S WHO IN ZAMBIAN 2021 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

WHO’S WHO IN ZAMBIAN 2021 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS
Lunatic Fringe, Illusory Riff-Raffs, Frauds, Chancers and Top Drawers
By Field Ruwe EdD

Few Sub-Sahara African countries receive as many kudos for their beauty as Zambia. Whether drawn by the picturesque landscape, rich soil, precious minerals, abundant wildlife, there’s something to fall in love with. Sadly, the “Gift from God” is an anathema to the lives and society of Zambians. The biggest threat to Zambia’s success is its presidents, most who have been clueless with deadly consequences. Every five years, Zambians eager to improve their lives, flock to polling stations to affirm the incumbent or pick a new one. Each five years they are taken on a roller-coaster that ends up crushing their hearts. Going by the abysmally poor quality of this year’s contenders, history is likely to repeat itself. In this series of articles, I examine each and every candidate from the lunatic fringe to top drawers, and show why mediocrity, rather than quality, is at the center of our failure as a people.

GROUP 1: THE LUNATIC FRINGE

In politics the lunatic fringe is a term used to characterize political leaders who have the most eccentric, extreme, or fanatical bizarre views, and foolish manifestos that a farsighted electoral commission would throw out.

Chilufya Tayali – Economic and Equity Party (EEP)

Politicians are not required to take a mental fitness-for-leadership test to form a party. I don’t need to be a psychoanalyst to tell you that as leader of the Economic and Equity Party (EEP), Chilufya Tayali urgently needs help. He is a witty and sprightly kamikaze rabble-rouser who is irrational and cracked like a rabid fox and temperamentally a danger to himself and others. As a leader, eyeing the presidency in his own frenzied way, he should undergo a capacity evaluation to access his mental fitness to lead his party, even if it comprises himself as a the sole member. Tayali’s state of mind should not be underestimated. He uses dangerous whistleblowing tactics—the act of exposing information or activity of his fellow politicians—as a prime tactical weapon in pursuing his “political” agenda. Perceived by beneficiaries of his tactics as dauntless, courageous, and daring, Tayali has emerged as the biggest and most vexatious litigant testifying while holding a bazooka to his own head and living on the edge of the edge. It is clear he has no manifesto and no followers. His so-called political life is not only a spasm of chaos, but a chaos syndrome. Those dear to him must persuade him to quit for his sake.

Savior Chishimba – United Progressive Party (UPP)

Short fused Savior Chishimba, leader of the dead “Bemba” political party UPP, thinks he is the incarnation of Simon Kapwepwe. A ranting, hysterical, mercurial character, with a notorious temper, Chishimba violates the essential rules of thinking rationally, and presents a belligerent persona that at times exhibits disinhibited symptoms and feckless disregard. He thinks his crazed vicious tantrum is a sign of strength. Clad in a UPP toga, and at times in an industrial overalls, addressing three people in Bemba and English, he viciously throws words like punches, spewing profanity all the while: “Kalya ka stupid minister ka Charles Banda ka welewele!” Gladly, no one pays attention to him. Perhaps the word “chiwelelwe” should be applied to him for his “useless” misplaced USA-type grandiose vision: “My vision is to tackle issues of disarmament, environment (global warming), human rights…human trafficking, child labour, human conflicts in various parts of the globe, large-scale displacements of civilian populations, cybercrime, contemporary forms of racism, crimes of honour against women, and the nexus of drug trafficking.” Clearly a load of baloney and a misplacement of vision. The vision of a true Zambian leader should be to educate the masses, fight poverty, hunger and disease, and I might add, to protect the treasures of our country. Like Chilufya Tayali, Chishimba too must be watched.

Peter Sinkamba – Green Party (GP)

Peter Sinkamba’s Green Party is epitome of docile imbecility, and his presidential ambition is a stunt. Sinkamba’s concentration on the legalization of marijuana shows how he is possessed by illusions and delusions, at times noble to the point of utter selfishness and absurdity, and at other times to the point of amorality. His Green Party is not a political agenda, but a cannabis business plan for himself to grow marijuana and benefit financially from it, while the populous is left psychotic. While it is true marijuana has the potential to rake in millions of dollars in taxes, it still leads to criminality in all the jurisdictions where it is legalized as recreational or medicinal. In Zambia, once legalized, many “patients” will not afford to buy through legal channels. Also, the export benefit is a myth. Cannabis is the world’s most popular illicit substance that thrives in different climates around the world. In the U.S. there are enough cannabis farms to go round. Sikamba’s Green Party must be deregistered because it poses a danger to the health of our nation and is a sheer waste of time.
Please Note: Also included in this category are President of Democratic Assembly Maxwell Mwamba. To call him eccentric or weird is to put it mildly.Another is President of the United Poor People’s Party Alex Muliokela. Did I just add his name to the list?

GROUP 2: ILLUSORY RIFF-RAFFS

In politics illusory riff-raffs refer to hopeless presidential candidates that run with the full knowledge of their inability to win elections, and instead use their candidacy to advance non-mainstream political platforms, or take advantage of benefits afforded political candidates such as name recognition.

Edith Nawakwi – Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD)

Leading the group of shameless illusory riff-raffs is Edith Nawakwi. If arrogance has a face, it is the face of Nawakwi. A talentless crank and misogynist, Nawakwi who has been at the helm of FDD since the demise of Lieutenant General Christon Tembo has over the years reduced herself to a riff-raff. In the 2011 general elections Nawakwi received 0.2% of the vote, and 0.9% in 2015. Her political fallout has been so dramatic that it has helped to destroy her party. FDD members, some who are highly perspicacious like Zambia’s “Johnnie Cochran” Chifumu Banda have chosen to overlook the blindingly obvious fact that the ossified, vain, conceited and selfish Edith Nawakwi is taking them nowhere. Nawakwi’s profane demagoguery resurfaced late last year when, without providing tangible evidence, called her opposition counterpart Hakainde Hichilima (UPND) a criminal for personally benefiting from the Chiluba’s privatization program. Nawakwi, who as Minister of Finance was the custodian of all government revenue had the power to have Hichilima arrested and sent to jail, but waited for 22 years to use the allegation as a desperate attempt to seek public attention. Nawakwi who at the height of her political career, dug a ridge between herself and Zambian women has failed to build a bridge and crossover to them and present herself as their hope in the male-dominated social and political strata. But then, how can she? She hasn’t the strength of character or humility to request help from Zambian women who represent 60 percent of the electorate. Her typical modus operandi suggests she would rather languish in the political abyss. How about replacing her with the likes of Chifumu Banda?

Wynter Kabimba – Rainbow Party (RP)

Wynter Kabimba, the once darling of the Patriotic Front party is a tragic hero whose political providence plummeted as soon as President Michael Sata was put to rest, and it has since been all downhill. Hubris—the extreme pride and arrogance trait has completely consumed Kabimba and relegated him to riff-raff status where he rightly belongs. It was Sata who created the Frankenstein monstrosity persona of Kabimba to the extent his colossal egotism presupposed his political arrogance. The two met in the 1980s when Sata was Governor of Lusaka and Kabimba worked as Town Clerk. As PF Secretary General, Kabimba’s leadership trait was characterized by snobbatives, egotism, disagreeableness, and an inflated pride. He was not known to apologize on behalf of his party or on his own behalf. People around Kabimba were aware hubris blinded him to team work, and as soon as Sata was interred, they abandoned him and relegated him to a perennial riff-raff with no hope at the end of the rainbow.

Apostle Reverend Dan Pule – Christian Democratic Party (CDP)

One of the poster children for the creation of Zambia as a “Christian nation,” former Deputy Minister of Finance in the Chiluba government, the “apostle” Reverend Dan Pule, is president of a frivolous party called Christian Democratic Party. Dr. Pule is the worst notable opposition leader in the country who confuses Caesar for God. He mesmerizes the pulpit and pimps the PF party. He can best be described as a shameless perennial presidential candidate who, like a lazy stork bird, sits on the hippo’s back to remove ticks, fleas, and maggots from its hide, and when danger looms, alerts the hippo. He recently declared: “I’m ready to offer my services in the Patriotic Front administration as Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs.” For once Edith Nawakwi was right to call Reverend Dan Pule “a man without morals.”

UNIP leader Tilyenji Kaunda

In 1990, Zambians lowered into the grave the black coffin symbolizing UNIP. Tilyenji, son of President Kenneth Kaunda thought he could dig it out, polish it up and turn it into his throne just like Uhuru Kenyatta did in Kenya. But Tilyenji is no Uhuru but a permanent deadwood drifting at sea—incapable of any resolute action. Unlike Uhuru, Tilyenji thinks like Niccolo Machiavelli: “A Prince ought to be better loved, and will naturally be popular with his subjects unless outrageous vices make him odious…For one change always leaves a dovetail into which another will fit.” For three decades Tilyenji, who in his life-time has had less need to toil, has sat on his laurels, and for the three decades he has been on the ballot, voters have preferred a hyena to him. For Tilyenji, his short political career has long dissipated. No one knows who he is, and those who do, pretend they never met him.

Please note: President of the Patriots for Economic Progress (PEP) Sean Tembo is NOT a politician but an activist. For Sean, activism sits at the base of almost every utterance he makes, and every article he writes. As sharp as he is, he has failed to turn his activism into political power because he cannot distinguish between a policy changer (activist), and an agenda peddler (politician). That’s what makes him a riff-raff. Also under this category are newcomers, President of the New Heritage Party Chishala Kateka, and President of the National Alliance Party Steven Nyirenda, both who can be described as “dead on arrival.” Chishala and Steven are flogging a dead horse. I thought Chishala was a fair replacement of Nawakwi. The minute she uttered the name “Heritage Party” her acumen went down the drain.
Who are next? To be continued

When President Edgar Lungu Was Not Adopted For The Chawama Seat, He Didn’t Leave PF Out Of Frustration, He Waited For His Time – Lubinda Habazoka

0

WHEN PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU WAS NOT ADOPTED FOR THE CHAWAMA SEAT, HE DIDN’T LEAVE PF OUT OF FRUSTRATION, HE WAITED FOR HIS TIME. IF HE HAD LEFT, HE COULDN’T HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT TODAY✍️

Sunday motivation by Lubinda Habazoka.

God has a plan for each and everyone of us. Man cannot alter another man’s fate! Sometimes a door can be closed in front of your face by evil people. Don’t despair. That is God showing you the direction to your real destiny.

The Current President of Tanzania had no idea she would have almost a full term as President of Tanzania without going through the difficult CCM primaries. She was chosen running mate and the rest is history.

Who knew President RB would be President? He didn’t have to form a political party, didn’t have to campaign for many years. What Mwanawasa did was to only call him from the farm. Mwanawasa himself was called at midnight and told he was going to be President. President Edgar Lungu was not adopted for the Chawama. He waited. Had he left the PF in frustration to go and stand as independent or joined MMD, he would never have been President today.

The same applies even in our lives. Life has setbacks. Never be discouraged. I believe that each person was born for greatness. It just depends on what level in society we plan to occupy. It starts just in childhood. How we are determined at school. The choices we make in life etc.

Zambia unfortunately has a lot of haters. The more potential a person shows, the more haters they have. Because of that, a lot of people’s destinies are destroyed by people that have nothing to show for in life. But God always reverses things. Today you are the manager and Tommorrow the managed becomes the manager. We should never forget this fact so let’s treat everyone as our potential manager!!!

People ask that with all the educated people this country have why don’t we progress? The answer is simple. We don’t utilize talent. We frustrate talent until talent goes to serve other countries. We don’t know how to utilize human resource. Bosses in our companies hate energetic and innovate youngsters and love the status quo. Energy and innovation is mistaken for ambition to replace the boss. When companies don’t perform we always have a scapegoat. Blame it on government. The reason why foreign companies perform in Zambia is that they have a different work culture! They have targets! All

That matters for them is the ability of an individual to meet their targets. In Zambian institutions, they will even downplay the achievements of an employee lol. Pretend that those achievements don’t exist. So when staff is demotivated they go and blame it on the exchange rate forgetting they need to produce so as to create the exchange rate because they are part of the bigger economy.

It really feels sad to look at the potential for growth that is being suppressed in this country. Much of the failures of the country can be attributed to work related politics. I have seen projects fail because of egos and politics amongst staff. The more petty the people, the more the failures. It’s very easy to be drawn in that pettiness because if that’s the order of the day, you get caught up in it.

Therefore professionals need to remember that they are professionals. We don’t go to create friendships in companies. We go to deliver for the shareholders, stakeholders and other interested people!!!

If we just raise above pettiness and also go back to discover our purpose in life, we can succeed.

The other side of the Cyber Space as President Edgar Lungu signs new law …a diplomats personal perspective

The other side of the Cyber Space as President Edgar Lungu signs new law

…a diplomats personal perspective

By Amb. Anthony Mukwita

27th March 2021, BERLIN

When President Edgar Lungu signed the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes bill into law on 23rd March 2021, reactions from citizens and interest groups were mixed.
Some liked it others hated it, albeit, it had gone full circle in parliament before reaching the President’s desk for his signature.
As a diplomat and published author, every time there´s a new development in my beautiful country Zambia, I study it to prepare myself for questions from colleagues in need of the ´bare bones´ of the development at one point or another.

WHAT IS A CYBER CRIME?

Laws are often penned to correct or prevent a wrong, so firstly I sought to know what constitutes a cyber-crime the new law seeks to cure or prevent, I found a few below:
Among the top are Hate Speech, peddling Child Pornography that could permanently harm our children, Identity Theft, this is when someone steals your identity and use it to commit a crime, Malware, which is when your computers safety is compromised with the aim of stealing your valuable information.

Others are Phishing, Cryptojacking, Cyber Espionage or even slandering and libelling others under the veil of the internet or cyber space, the most common crime in Zambia especially since the rise of the use of the internet on platforms such as Facebook or chat groups.
In Zambia, cyber bulling has become a buzz word that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth but I will concentrate on the economic side of things and skirt away from the political side of things.

A study I read states that ostensibly, “hundreds of millions of cyber attacks occur in Africa annually with up to billions of dollars schemed by offenders that go largely undetected and unpunished” either because of lack laws or tech inabilities by governments.

*ZAMBIA LOOSES BILLIONS OF KWACHA VIA THE INTERNET*

This is something rarely told in public because of the sensitivity of the banking sector, but Zambian commercial banks have not been left unscathed.
According to a 2016 cyber-attacks study, “Zambia lost up to US$4 million, almost K100 million, in a year about six years ago at the hands of cyber criminals that hacked bank records with the help of local and international cartels according to one study.”
Other African countries such as Ivory Coast recorded about 1,409 cyber-attack complaints in courts in one year recently but the numbers seem to be dropping due to new laws with cash losses of about 8.9 million euros, billions of CFA.

*AFRICA THE HAVEN OF CYBER CRIMINALS*

Another study says, “Africa has become a nest of cybercriminals of all kinds. For instance, those who specialise in the “419” scam, named after article 419 in Nigerian criminal law, that penalises fraud and specifies the fines and other penalties for this sort of crime.”
The same study says close to home South Africa is worst affected because, “70 percent of South Africans have been hit by a cyber-crime, which is 50 percent of the world average.”
Zambia is among economies more exposed to cyber crimes than any other economies in the world, especially the rich west and Asia and it remains more vulnerable in the absence of laws stipulating punishment.
South African companies lost more than US$500 million dollars in 2014 alone.
ENTER THE ZAMBIAN MOBILE MONEY SECTOR
The rise in mobile banking popularly known as Airtel of MTN money has increases the threat of cyber-crimes says the study.

*THE PROS AND CONS OF THE NEW LAW*

Given the aforementioned scenario, it appears to me that the new law signed by President Lungu is necessary to punish and prevent those that nilly willy commit crimes online behind the veil of the internet.
I have no doubt that parents want their innocent children protected from perverts and peodofiles masquerading as Ice Cream salesmen online while every person with a bank account wants to ensure their money is safe and accounts are protected by the law.
I have no doubt that everyone wants to enjoy their integrity and not be opened to ridicule on Facebook by people spewing hate, insults and contempt, often without cause under the cover of cyber space, I must know I have been a target.
President Lungu ought to be commended for bravely signing the law (like he did when he signed the 50 percent plus one in 2016) that is expected to spike down the peddling of hate speech and insults that became a daily order in Zambia.

*IS THE CYBER LAW OPEN TO ABUSE?*

Concerns abound that the cyber law could be abused, just like any law and the answer is if there´s no vigilance, which Zambia isn’t short of, any law is open to abuse.
We are lucky to have a lawyer for a President whom I know would have cancelled out any abuse red flags before inking the law.
It’s also important to note that this law is not cast in stone like the laws of Moses but is open to amendments if found to be excessive.
Historically whenever a new law is introduced, reactions are mixed, which is normal in a democracy.

*THE FEAR CREEPETH ON THE BACK OF THE LAW*

Evidently, however, those fond of insulting and calling others names under the guise of the internet resent the new cyber law.
In conclusion, President Lungu who once said, “a stitch in time saves nine,” because a plan is better than no plan.
Don’t forget that some of the crimes committed online result into death like the 2013 Westgate attack at a mall in Nairobi Kenya were terrorists killed 68 people and injured 200.
I got additional readings for this essay from a paper entitled “Cyber Crimes in Africa 2016” and the new Zambian cyber law 2021, which is available to the public on only.

Anthony Mukwita is the Ambassador of Zambia to Germany. This personal essay was inspired by the recent enactment of the Cyber Security law of Zambia by President Edgar Lungu on 23rd March 2021.

SUSPECTED ABDUCTORS OF HATEMBOS STILL DETAINED

SUSPECTED ABDUCTORS OF HATEMBOS STILL DETAINED

It is almost two months since Pheluna Hatembo and her brother disappeared, now her cerebral palsy afflicted 35-year-old daughter is ill, vomiting blood and pus.

The daughter, Nasilele Nyambe, was yesterday escorted to the Choma General Hospital by her elder sister Abigail who pleaded with abductors to release their mother.

The last they saw their mother was when she was bundled to Lusaka where she signed a statement condemning her lawyers for indicating an intention to appeal against a ruling that dispossessed them of their 200 hectare farm to Mr. Hakainde Hichililema. The family have since disputed the “withdrawal” of the appeal, stating that they had sat and decided to appeal against the High Court judgment.

“The disappearance of our mother has sent my already sick young sister into depression and caused her to fall into a more serious condition requiring frequent hospital visits.” first born Abigail revealed yesterday.

“From the time our mother disappeared, my sister’s condition has worsened and needs frequent hospital visits, which is very costly for me because I have no stable income.
Speaking from Choma General Hospital where she had taken her sick sister, Abigail said the family has not seen their mother for a long time and now fear for the worst.

“We haven’t seen our mother from the time she left and so I have been suffering alone taking care of my disabled sister. At the moment, we are at the hospital for urgent medical checkup because she has been vomiting pus,” said Abigail.

She explained that her sister now in her mid-30s, was struck by cerebral malaria at the age of three, which left her disabled.
“My sister can’t walk or eat so I have brought her for urgent medical checkup at Choma General Hospital because the condition has worsened since our mother disapeared,” she said.
Abigail also revealed that from the time their mother Pheluna left she has not been communicating with them to find out about the condition of the sick daughter and wondered what has happened to their parent.

“My sister doesn’t sleep meaning she is always awake and so it means I have to also be alert at all times because I’m the only one remaining to look after her,” she said.

Abigail called on well-wishers to come to the aid of the family and assist her sister get proper medical health care.

Pheluna and her brother Milton have been missing after they appeared in a video denouncing their own court case in which they had sued Mr Hichilema over the acquisition of their farm.

When the matter was ruled against the Hatembo because of the lapse of time, the duo were allegedly brought to Lusaka to denounce the case and further refuse to appeal the matter
More recently, their brothers, Cosmas and Emmerson Hatembo complained that they had not seen their siblings and travelled to Choma to hold a funeral for the missing duo.

Sunday Chanda Don’t Defend Criminality, Kampamba Should Be Fired If Lungu Cares For Zambia – Sikaile Sikaile

PRESS STATEMENT FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

28/03/2021

SUNDAY CHANDA DON’T DEFEND CRIMINALITY, KAMPAMBA SHOULD BE FIRED IF LUNGU CARES FOR ZAMBIA

We find the press statement issued yesterday by PF media director Mr. Sunday Chanda, trying to defend minister Mulenga Kampamba for insults in an audio going round on social media to be nonsensical and foolish. Sunday, is not a police officer, let ZICTA and Zambia police do the investigation if PF claims Mulenga Kampamba is not the one who was yelling such insults. What type of human beings are PF who don’t take responsibility? Here are the offences Mulenga Kampamba committed soon after the President signed the much publicised bill which they thought will function on 12th August, to just interfere with Parallel Vote Tabulation.Sec 69 of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act says: A person who using a computer system intentionally initiates any electronic communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause emotional distress to a person commits an offence and is liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a periodnot exceeding five years, or to both.

65. A person who, using a computer system, knowingly without lawful excuse, uses hate speech commits an offence and is liable,
on conviction, to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, or to both.Oh I have started to love this law. Police Officers please there are the section of law that you must inquire into on Honourable Kampamba’s case.By her and the PF media team circulating another video on her Facebook page and the PF official page. She has just implicated a person who has never been a leader accusing her of having issued those insults two years ago. Please Honourable, listening to your insults I thought you were smart enough that the person you are trying to implicate is not a prophet neither is she a political leader.I say so because there was no way she could have claimed to have built a clinic, roads etc in Kalulushi two years ago when the clinic is a most recent one. Looking at the person claiming to have done that and this in the audio, and the one in a video there is no collaration or similarities.

Sunday Chanda too, has tried to be smart by defending his Honorable Minister forgetting he and the women implicated have just broken the law and Sec 55 of the Act and it says: (1) A person who aids, abets, counsels, procures, incites, or solicits another person to commit or conspires to commit anyoffence under this Act, commits an offence and is liable, onconviction, to the penalty specified for that offence.Actually, the defences that have instituted only confirms one thing, the minister did commit the offence. Secondly, PF should be ashamed to have a member affiliated to them issuing such insults and the entire media team in PF gives a coverage to her to claim she is the one who insulted and not Hon Mulenga.

The goodness with offences committed electronically is, you can’t destroy the evidence the moment you press that button evidence remains in the space forever.Mr Lungu Sir, show us that this law was created to protect all Zambians be in opposition or in Government. Some of us we have been receiving death threats from PF agents for simply questioning your failed leadership sir. We hope all these characters will be brought to book. It is also on record that you president Edgar Lungu has also been a culprits of cyber bullying. For example on unknown dates but between 2016 and 2020 you have been warning of going to crush HH like a tone bricks. Hope you haven’t forgotten your Excellency because mulandu suwola.

We know PF especially Mr Lungu must be very ashamed that, the same day he signed the cyber bill into law his own minister becomes a first casualty. She must enter the Guinness book of records, the first person to have broken the law five minutes after it was signed.
Police Officers we doubted your ability to enforce this law, now you have a chance to prove us wrong. We may hear that the police has no complainant. The most exciting part of this law is Sec 69 just needs a person who was emotionally distressed by the minister’s insults that all, and I was emotionally distressed. So, after posting this write up I hope all the 18 million Zambians who are Christians in a Christian Nation and were emotionally distressed like myself should go to the police and report too. This is a learning process for Lungu and PF government. You cannot be rushing pieces of legistlation to curtail or target your opponent when you are the one behind all kinds of criminal activities.

Of late we have seen some PF officials publishing ponographic materials one of them being a minister Sichalwe, Mabumba and many others. Sunday Chanda, what has Lungu done to discipline such characters? Please stop displaying foolishness to our nation. Zambia deserves better than this rubbish going on.

I’m calling on president Lungu to walk the talk by firing Mulenga Kampamba for disgracing a public office. PF leaders, with insults of that nature it is not knew but, it is their culture together with their cadres. We have heard all kinds of insults by PF cadres like those who were insulting Kambwili’s mother. HH has been insulted by PF cadres and leaders connected to Edgar Lungu and nothing has been done. PF you are a disgrace to our nation.

I will maintain my words that if truly Mr Lungu is a president of Zambia, Kampamba Mulenga should be fired immediately for such insults.
The damage control they tried to do only went as far as confirming the guilty are afraid. Sunday Chanda may just be considered to be an obstruction to cyber inspectors or all those names in the Act. Rush to sign a law and you will crush. Mr Lungu will never learn, it’s now twice beaten. First was his constitution which has barred him from contesting. And his cyber law, his own minister is the first casualty. Show us law is blind.

Lungu has become insensitive to needs of the people, notes Kalala

0

JACK Kalala says the suffering of the Zambian people does not bother President Edgar Lungu and is never discussed in the PF Cabinet meeting.

Responding to President Lungu’s claim that people are living well, Kalala said the “regrettable statement” demonstrates that the President and his ministers are totally oblivious of the sad reality prevailing in the country.

He said President Lungu’s utterances go to show that the people’s hard life is not on the PF government’s menu.

“When commissioning one of the humps being heaped on some of the Lusaka roads, President Lungu is reported to have claimed that there’s money in the economy and people are living well. Of course President Lungu, his ministers and their surrogates are living well and opulently,” Kalala noted. “They have everything they need in life. They think everyone else in the country is living like them. Regrettably, it is not the case. People are suffering. The cost of living is extremely high. People are struggling to survive and there are no jobs and other opportunities for them.”

He said the Head of State does not give a damn as long as he is eating and living well.

Kalala lamented that President Lungu does not care when people are going hungry as long as his stomach is full and the next meals are granted.

“He does not care that there are no medicines and other requisites in hospitals as long as his health is taken care of. He does not care that many youths are roaming the streets without jobs; their welfare does not concern him. Instead, he uses them as tools of brutality against his political opponents,” he said.

Kalala noted that because the State provides everything for him, President Lungu has become insensitive to the needs of the people.

He said when President Lungu is reminded that people are suffering and hurting, he gets upset instead of becoming concerned.

Kalala insisted that President Lungu is a wrong person to be a national leader.

“He has no heart for the people. Their suffering means nothing to him. Of late President Lungu has been making statements showing that he has no concern for the socio-economic plight of the citizens. The majority of Zambians, especially those in urban areas, can hardly afford a decent meal a day. The cost of living is extremely high. The inflation has increased to more than 22 per cent; the kwacha has depreciated to K23 to one dollar. Prices of goods have skyrocketed. These and other factors have negatively impacted on the quality of life,” Kalala said. “The hospitals have no basic medicines, equipment and other requisites; people are dying in large numbers of treatable diseases. Many people are jobless and without means of survival. It is inconsiderate and insensitive for the President to make claims implying that all is well in the country.”

He said Zambia is a country of abundant resources but paradoxically its citizens are very poor because of inept and unscrupulous leaders like President Lungu and his surrogates.

Kalala said instead of working to develop the country for the common good and to improve the standard of living of citizens, greedy leaders have worked to enrich themselves and to fatten their bank accounts.

“With impunity they openly claim that they steal to live better tomorrow. They even have the audacity to go about flaunting bundles of money with impunity where millions are struggling to survive and can hardly afford basic needs in their homes,” he said.

Kalala lamented that millions of young people have finished school but are aimlessly roaming the streets without jobs.

He also noted that highly qualified young people have resorted to doing casual menial jobs with some of them turning themselves into street vendors to barely earn a living because the President and his cohort of ministers have failed to create an enabling environment for job creation.

“These young people cannot fulfil their life dreams and cannot contribute to the socio-economic development of their country because the PF leaders have failed to provide effective leadership. Zambia is suffering from a leadership crisis,” said Kalala.

INNOCENT KALIMANSHI AT THE EDGE

INNOCENT KALIMANSHI AT THE EDGE

A Story by Edward Roy Makayi.

They call him PF National Commander, America 1, Ebenezer 1, bleacher etc but his real names are Innocent Kalimanshi a Zambian with a Green national registration card. Most of all a politician and very active political player in the ruling Patriotic Front.

Innocent Kalimanshi came on a scene way back and his political story traces from many things. Today I feel compelled to write about him because what seems to be funny and politics can actually consume someone.

When I watched the video of him crying for help from judges, courts and so on most of all he called on Zambians to listen and pay attention to what is going on to him. The police are allegedly looking for him and he made it very clear that how can he the oppressee be summoned to police when the oppressors are free as he says his camp was attacked, his youths attacked, properties damaged etc.

I have been an ardent follower of Innocent Kalimanshi life his comic but jovial videos ranging from fun, to Gospel Ebenezer drama that went viral and nicknamed him as such. Whether Innocent Kalimanshi dreams of traveling to America or not it’s a story for another day but what makes him choose America in his comic jovial style is the art of the strength America is known as a super power of the world. He prides himself as a super power to the American status hence the title “American”.

Of all the videos of Innocent Kalimanshi daring or speaking his mind out the latest one seems to be a call from a drowning man at the deed heart of the ocean calling for help as he seems to have been tied to a very heavy rock and he can’t swim anymore. Innocent Kalimanshi is asking for help and if we don’t pay attention we would just wake up one day to catastrophic news of his death and the country will live on like no mans business. He has often spoken openly about his enemies who are after him right there in PF.

Where is the police? Where is the president, where are the leaders in PF? Is this about Innocent Kalimanshi or there is something Zambians should know what is going on in PF?.

The truth is that PF is the most disorganized political party in Zambia ever and Innocent Kalimanshi is just one person who has exposed the inner ills within the party. He has been suspended and disowned by the party Secretary General and he is in Court with Home Affairs Minister Hon Stephen Kampyongo over defamation.

Mainly if we talk politics every political party has internal issues just like in UPND, NDC or any different party such differences are normal but when someone is calling for help in the manner Kalimanshi is doing it tells you that the gravity of the problem is bigger and beyond politics.

How did he find himself in that situation?.

This is a person many will say has been a pillar of strength among PF cadres. He openly say that he single handedly paid for his soldiers to make sure that the current president was made the presidential candidate in Kabwe. We don’t know how to prove this but it’s in public domain what he says I don’t think he can lie but I also believe that his way of expressing himself could cost him but is it in the manner that it’s happening?.

To some extent I am a victim of PF violence and unfair treatment. I reacted the same way to Hon Stephen Kampyongo when he came to attack the UPND camp in Kasama and when I insulted him and reacted viciously I was warned that the police are looking for me. I openly said the police can not look for me for anything before arresting the oppressor first who happens to be Hon Stephen Kampyongo. I took responsibility for everything I said without any apologies to make because you can’t unfairly provoke someone and later on send the police to him I told him am just getting started even if he takes me to court I can even insult him right there in front of the judges to send a message to other leaders to behave themselves if they want respect from youths especially cadres because certain cadres like me I know my rights but certainly no one has the right to endanger me and later on use the police over my reaction the violence is eminent to date those who followed my outbursts in Kasama I fully take responsibility for saying what I said because a grown up man called a leader and a cabinet Minister can not behave the way Hon Kampyongo behaved and expect respect. I mean he brought cadres at night to attack our camp the cadres ransacked our foodstuffs, beat and injured people properties where damaged and stolen so honestly speaking no matter how good you are how would you react when the whole Home affairs Minister the boss of the police is the one in the forefront perpetrating violence like a common thug where can you run for help?

I don’t know the gravity of Innocent Kalimanshi situation but he seems to be feeling the same wrath from the people he has.

You may think youths in Zambia or politics is a dirty game but this goes to tell you that leadership in Zambia especially from the ruling side has been a challenge. We will keep monitoring the affairs of Innocent Kalimanshi though the man is suffocating it’s just a matter of time they will get him. Will he be arrested? Killed or what?. Innocent Kalimanshi may be a PF cadre but he is a Zambian, a husband and a father to 12 children and when a Zambian asks for help we should render it. How he found himself in that situation is exactly what the system designed for youths instead of helping youths to be skilled and be part of governance you instead use them as tools of violence this is exactly what the situation of Kalimanshi brings and it will not end on Kalimanshi. In other countries that’s how rebels are formed one day I will be vindicated to my 2019 words of having reckless leaders. Imagine he had his own soldiers that helped president Lungu to be adopted he funded those soldiers because president Lungu had no money today his soldiers where attacked like how did youths in Zambia started having their own soldiers? When I ask where Zambia Army is to take keen interest of this trend of PF cadres and their soldiers issue they should be listening here we are. More popcorns please.

The Political Sovereignty Of The Mukuni Royal Dynasty Among The Lenje, Lala, Soli, Sala And Nsenga Chieftains

By Kasebamashila Kaseba
THE POLITICAL SOVEREIGNTY OF THE MUKUNI ROYAL DYNASTY AMONG THE LENJE, LALA, SOLI, SALA AND NSENGA CHIEFTAINS

After taking over the Lenje, Lala, Soli/Lala/Goba and Sala countries, Mukuni went on to assimilate these peoples into his dynasty and went on to establish his kingship over them and appoint his tributary chiefs for them (H.W. Langworthy (1972), p22-25 and P.C. Manchishi and E.T. Musona, p2):

 Chaamuka, his trusted courtier, was elevated to a Bene Mukuni subordinate chief of the Lenje with his headquarters at Chisamba, covering todays’ Chisamba district and east of today’s Lusaka district, while he (Mukuni) retained central control of all the Lenje country (S. Douglas Gray (1961), p19).

 He appointed his son Mpanswe as a Bene Mukuni princely chief of the Lala of Luano by the Mulungushi river to grow tobacco and castor oil beans for him, for oil, because there was no frost in Luano to burn the plants, but later Mpanswe, after amassing wealth, delinked himself from his father, Mukuni, praising himself thus: “I am Chilubakwabo” (the one who forgets from where he came). For this, Mukuni sent Mukuluma to kill him and replace him with his other son, Liteta. Liteta was later relegated by the colonial administration to a position of a headman under Chief Cheembe of today’s Luano district (S. Douglas Gray (1961), p19).

 Cheembe, another son, was appointed a Bene Mukuni princely chief of the Lala of Luano, west of the upper Lunsemfwa river (S. Douglas Gray (1961), p19).

 Kapalamoto was made a Bene Mukuni subordinate chief of the Lala, but was later relegated to headman under Cheembe in colonial Northern Rhodesia (S. Douglas Gray (1961), p19).

 For the overall Soli/Lala/Goba country below, starting from lower Lunsemfwa river through Chongwe district today and up to some parts of today’s Lusaka district, he appointed his son Bimbe as a princely chief, today styled Senior Chief Nkomeshya, to superintend over the conquered Soli/ Lala/Goba Chieftains of Shikabeta, Mpasha, Bundabunda and Chiyaba, all of whom belonged to the Bene Nyangu clan and whose Senior Chief before then was Bundabunda (S. Douglas Gray (1961), p3 and P.C. Manchishi and E.T. Musona on Soli People, p8, 41 & 48)

When Bimbe died he was succeeded by his young brother Chinyama. Because Bimbe was son to Mukuni, who had been called Mukuni Ngo’mbe after washing clay off his legs with oxen blood before leaving Mulopwe’s country, Bimbe was mistakenly assigned the Bene Ng’ombe (Cattle) clan by the Soli. Bimbe’s headquarters as Senior Chief of the Soli/Lala/Goba were located at Chongwe, an area named after and in honour of Mukuni’s nephew, Chongwe, by his sister Lubona Tunchite. This Chongwe was a brother to Nkanga, the mother of the current Bene Mukuni Lenje Chieftains, and it is for this reason that today the Soli language at Chongwe and Nkomeshya has some Lenje words in it. (Manchishi and Musona, on Soli language, p10 and W. V. Brelsford (1965), p77).

It is no wonder that Royal Highness Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya’s middle name is “Mulenje”. By adopting the title Mukamambo II, and considering also that she organizes the annual Chakwela Makumbi, a rain cult prayer ceremony, Senior Chieftainess Elizabeth Mulenje Nkomeshya has not only assumed the title of Mukuni’s wife, but has also reincarnated her works.

 Loongo was appointed a Bene Mukuni tributary chief, today styled Senior Chief Shakumbila, and was given the overall responsibility of taking charge of the Bambala and Sala areas of Mumbwa and Lusaka Districts to oversee subordinate chiefs Mumba, Moono and Chibuluma, who were given to rule the specific areas of Bambala for Mumba and Moono and the Sala area of Kabile for Chibuluma. The other Chibuluma was appointed subordinate chief of the Sala of today’s Lusaka central district (S. Douglas Gray (1961), p19). However, this Chibuluma was later relegated to the position of a headman by the colonial administration and placed under Senior Chief Shakumbila of today’s Lusaka, Shibuyunji and Mumbwa districts.

Thus, when Paramount Chief Undi of the Cewa and Senior Chief Kalindawalo of the Nsenga visited and stayed for some years with Mukuni, early in the 18th century (Apthorpe R. (1960) – Rhodes-Livingstone Journal Number 28, p58) it is appropriately recorded in Lane Poole’s book (1958), on page 45, that the Lala/Lenje region was under Mukuni’s Paramount Chieftain.

When Paramount Chief Undi left Paramount Chief Mukuni’s country for his home in Mano–Kapoche, Mozambique, he took with him a significant number of the Bene Mukuni. Princess Chief Nyanje, a sister to Mukuni, went with him as his wife, with specific instructions to at all costs maintain her chiefly status, and she thus ended up as a chieftainess of the Nsenga of Petauke bordering with Mano in Mozambique (Paramount Chief Chivunga Kalonga Gawa Undi and Chieftainess Letiya Banda, 1970). Thus, today, all Munokalya Mukuni successors in spirit and title to Mukuni, the founder, stand in a mulamu (brother–in-law) relationship with Paramount Chief Undi’s successors in title.

*I have booklifted this from the book, “The Mukuni Royal Dynasty’s Short History and the Munokalya Mukuni Royal Establishment’s Ritual and Political Sovereignty” (2013) by Munokalya Mukuni.

IS EN DUMBO COMEDY AND FELISTUS NYA-UYU NGWIRA’S FAKE RELATIONSHIP PROFESSIONAL?

0

IS EN DUMBO COMEDY AND FELISTUS NYA-UYU NGWIRA’S FAKE RELATIONSHIP PROFESSIONAL?

ADMIN POST FOR ME!

This writing may be a little longer!

I write to give a comment on the Zambian comedian, Ken Dumbo and Malawian female entertainer, Felistus Nya-uyu Ngwira. This is my opinion, and it can be contrary to some people’s views. We’ve different opinions, that’s what everyone should bear in mind.

It started as a joke, the people of Zambia and Malawi believed them not, and that their relationship was really not serious for them being comedians. The Malawian and Zambian people, found themselves in the position of Thomas the disciple of Jesus who didn’t believe that his Teacher had risen from the dead.
“Until I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my finger into his hands, I won’t believe,” said Thomas, who’s also known as Didymus.

This was people’s talking towards Ken and Nya-uyu Ngwira’s relationship.
Just as Thomas said, “Until I see the nails in his [Jesus] hands…I won’t believe,” did the people say, “Until we see the ring on Nya-uyu Ngwira’s finger, we won’t believe it.”

Just like Jesus appeared to his disciples to clear the doubt which dwelt in Thomas’s heart, who said to him, “Put your finger here… Stop doubting and believe,” Ken was seen put a ring on Nya-uyu’s finger. This ring was seen by the unbelieving Thomases, followers for Ken and Nya-uyu.
“Why do Zambian people always take everything as a joke? Stop doubting and believe,” said Ken to his unbelieving Thomases just as Jesus said to the unbelieving Thomas Didymus.

To not only make them be of the opinion of their relationship, but to also persuade, cause to feel certain and prove to them that he was standing on the mountain of truth, Ken appeared on TV shows, radio stations and social media platforms, to give prominence, accentuation and emphasis to his words; to make what he was doing seem non-fictional, soothing, comforting and touching words of fondness, were deeply expressed both from Nya-uyu and Ken to their fans out of whom dropped tears of pleasure and contentedness. The unbelieving Thomases, now were convinced that their teacher (Ken Dumbo) had risen from the dead (what he was saying was nothing but the truth).

People invested their feelings and emotions into their relationship.

He put a pledge and assurance before them that he would travel to Malawi to see the damsel.

The Malawian damsel came to Zambia to meet the Prince of her heart; the King of the Vilekeke kingdom.

Both Zambian and Malawian people were ready to support these two doves. The people glued to their phone screens to watch these two deers as the damsel of Malawi journeyed to Zambia.

After everything, it was this journey that Ken decided to give it a quit. Why?
“The relationship between Nya-uyu and me was but all comedy because I have a fiancee (here in Zambia). We planned it this way,” said Dumbo.

Are you serious, Ken?

Is this being professional as they call it? Not at all.

Let Ken and Nya-uyu know that the kind of comedy they acted wasn’t comedy. That’s real life, boss.
Announcing that it was comedy even before the Malawian damsel reached her home, proved Ken as immature; really childish. Who does that? I don’t think he informed his fake girlfriend about this. His timing was below par, substandard and poor. They can call this entertainment and professionalism, but it’s not; it’s unprofessional, childishness, clownishness, waggery and silliness.

Are we children? Are people’s hearts toys that in the name of comedy these two can play with their feelings? They should have a higher level of thinking capacity to be able to differentiate between COMEDY and REAL LIFE.

Trust is like a plain paper. When you fold it carelessly and then unfold it, it will never appear the same and like before. This is how people’s trust towards Ken and Nya-uyu has become. It’s really difficulty to take them seriously next time they try a serious stuff.

A cowboy always liked to shout, “It’s Lion! Lion!” When people would run to see the Lion, “Kkkkkk, I was joking,” the cattle keeper would laugh. For many times he did this, and a day a Lion attacked the cattle for real, he tried to shout, “it’s Lion,” but people didn’t go there because they thought he was fooling them as usual.

This is how Ken has placed himself in this cowboy’s position.

If they wanted it to appear somehow professional, they should have told the people saying, “What Nya-uyu and I are going to do is but comedy. Whatever is going to happen between us, let not the people invest their emotions in it, but consider it all comedy.” They could’ve said.
Still people could find them entertaining. At the end of their acting, what was the lesson learnt? Only heartbreak and disappointment— betrayal, treachery, disloyalty and perfidy they offered to the people of Zambiya and Malabi.

Are Nya-Ndumbo’s hearts robots that they can’t develop feelings of affection for each other?
Saying no strings were attached— they didn’t develop any single gleam of love towards each other, not even 0.01% of feelings, is a pure crystal lie; it’s an outward apparel of pretense Ken and Nya-bae are trying to wear to conceal from the public their real affectionate towards each other. If one didn’t fall in love, the other must have fallen for the other.
From the look of things, the lady must have fallen for Ken.

It’s now high time for people to have no grudge towards Nya-Ndumbo. Let’s continue to give them support. Their mistake can not be reversed.
They admitted it and they will never do something as such. And let all actors and actresses, comedians and entertainers learn a lesson.

From Alfred A. Nyambe

MY UNCLE HAS BEEN ABUSING ME, HE NOW WANTS TO MARRY ME!

Editor…When my parents died in a car accident i was only 14 it was the worst thing to have ever happened in my life, I wasted a lot of years crying and I still do but my misery was just starting. My Uncle (a police officer) took me in and all was well especially that they had a daughter who was 12 years old she become like my sister.

It was a good life and I was even going to a good school like her and I started feeling better emotionally. Hell came to my life when my uncle my late father’s elder brother came one day at night to my bedroom and raped me.I tried to scream but no one came to my rescue it’s like everyone had left home ,even Jane their daughter lay quiet on the bed covering herself, I was so shocked and was shaking with fear.

Early in the morning my untie(his wife) came to my room and pretended to have heard nothing, I told her what had happened and she ignored me. This went on for some time and worse on some days my uncle would rape me and and his own daughter on the same bed and force us to do the most disgusting things as we looked at each other with so much fear and disbelief. This really damaged me emotionally and most time I wanted to just kill myself.

My untie knew what was happening but never said a word and forbid us to say a word, she quickly removed her daughter and took her to boarding school ,I cried that day I knew I was in trouble and I was right it become worse, even in the afternoon when my untie would be at work my uncle would come back and sexually abuse me them go back for work.

I becomes a sex slave and become like a second wife. Now that am in college I can’t seem to love or have sex with any of the young men who ask me for dates, I drink a lot of alcohol just to help me sleep but am so broken and unfortunately am in love with my uncle he is the only one I want to have sex with. He comes at my college and takes me to lodges and now most of my friends are getting married and getting engaged.Recently he asked me to marry him and gave me a ring I really don’t know what to do please help me most times I feel mad and dirty , I have so much confusion most times and I just want to die what can I do people of God? Am so hurt and heart-broken.

HICHILEMA CONCEDES DEFEAT BEFORE POLL DAY – Antonio Mwanza

0

By SmartEagles

Opposition UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has already conceded defeat in the August 12 general elections, PF Deputy Media Director Antonio Mwanza has charged.

Reacting to a long winding press statement which the UPND leader released yesterday, Mr. Mwanza said it was unfortunate that Mr. Hichilema went into a frenzy condemning the people of Southern Province and ECZ for not assisting him acquire the numbers to help him defeat President Lungu in the August 12 polls.

Mr. Mwanza further stated that the PF is happy that reality has finally dawned on Mr. Hichilema that he has no capacity to unseat President Lungu from power.

“In his confused media article, Mr. Hichilema makes wild claims that the people of Southern Province,Western and North Western Province will not be allowed to vote,” Mr. Mwanza stated.

He has wondered where the UPND leader got the information that the people from his perceived strongholds will not be allowed to vote for reasons he has failed to explain.

“Reality has finally dawned on SAMMY that he has neither numbers nor national appeal to win the the August elections and he has resorted to blaming anyone except himself for his eminent loss,” he said.

The PF Deputy Media Director has noted with concern that Mr. Hichilema has gone on rampage condemning the innocent people of Southern Province, ECZ and even blaming President Lungu for his own disorganization, regional and tribal politics.

Mr. Mwanza charged the UPND leader is in a weak and desperate position adding that he is trying by all means to prepare the minds of his supporters and donors way in advance to be ready for the impeding defeat.

“Everything in his press statement is nothing but a litany of excuses to justify his sixth loss,” Mr. Mwanza said.

“As usual SAMMY does not take responsibility for his own failures, he is blaming the police, ECZ and pa last he will even blame the Pop for his own failures; that is not leadership, true leaders are humble and magnanimous enough to accept their own shortcomings and take responsibility for their own failures,” he said.

Mr. Mwanza charged that Zambians do not owe Mr. Hichilema the presidency hence he should stop blaming them for his own failures.

“How can you surely convince Zambians that you can effectively run government when you have failed to come up with a manifesto for 15 years; that is MANYENGWE,” Mr. Mwanza said.

And Mr. Mwanza explained that the new voters register is on the insistence of Mr. Hichilema himself who had been crying since 2016 that there was need for a new voter’s register as he claimed the old one was doctored among other claims.

“The ECZ as per its tradition and practice has allowed all stakeholders including SAMMY to scrutinize, verify and audit the voter register,” Mr. Mwanza stated.

He stressed that the voters register is not a classified document but a public document which anyone can access.

The PF Deputy Media Director has since advised Mr. Hichilema to stop patronizing, belittling and holding hostage the people Southern saying that they are not his children or property at his farm.

Mr. Mwanza charged that the UPND leader should learn to respect the inherent and Constitutional right of the people of Southern Province to choose any leader of their choice.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwanza has said that the ECZ has conducted itself in a credible, transparent and inclusive manner saying the entire electoral process has been transparent, inclusive and accountable to all the stakeholders including Mr. Hichilema.

He stated that no decision has been made by ECZ without the consultations of stakeholders.

“So to accuse the ECZ of bias is unfair, baseless, unpatriotic and to put it plainly, simply childish,” Mr. Mwanza said.

And Mr. Mwanza has charged that it is not the job of ECZ to help people win elections.

He stated that politicians have to win their own elections by influencing people to support them with their party Manifestos.

Lungu’s ‘people are living well’ remark insulting to suffering Zambians – UPND SG Imenda

0

WE FIND it extremely shocking and insulting to hear President Edgar Lungu boasting that Zambian people are living well at a time when our citizens are struggling to put food on the table, says UPND secretary general Batuke Imenda.

While opening the Munali flyover on Wednesday, President Lungu said while people say Zambia’s economy is not booming, there are activities which indicate that there is money in the economy and that people are living well.

But Imenda yesterday wondered in which country President Lungu and his Patriotic Front supporters live for them to be blind to the daily toils of the people.

“Is it not laughable that the whole Head of State can measure the people’s standard of living in the country by the congestion he sees on Lusaka roads? It appears that from where Mr Lungu stands, Zambia begins and ends in Lusaka, hence the construction of fly-over bridges whose sub-contracted jobs have been given to PF members,” Imenda said in a statement. “These PF members are the ones flashing millions of kwacha, building mansions and buying expensive cars to drive on the expensive roads constructed from borrowed money. From this narrow perspective of rich PF members, Mr Lungu has the audacity to insult the Zambian people by saying they are all living well! If the Zambian people were enjoying, as Mr Lungu would like to make us believe, would he be demeaning the hardworking miners of this country by lending them Edgar Lungu-branded mealie-meal towards elections?”

Imenda said President Lungu’s desperate action to become ‘Father Christmas’ to the suffering miners was admission enough that his government had not done enough to ensure people afford to put food on their tables without depending on borrowed PF mealie-meal.

“If Mr Lungu were so caring for the miners, why has he not given them the mealie-meal for free?

Why should the money be deducted from the meagre salaries of these miners who cannot even afford to pay school fees for their children because of a depressed economy made worse by the PF’s appetite for borrowing?” Imenda asked. “As the United Party for National Development (UPND), we want to challenge Mr Lungu to visit the Copperbelt a day after the miners get paid and monitor how frequently people visit automated teller machines -ATMs. The people have no money in their accounts. Are these the people Mr Lungu is saying are living well?”

Imenda said President Lungu and the PF were detached from reality and “this is reason enough for the Zambian people to remove this insensitive administration from office come August 12”.

He said Zambia deserves a more caring team of leaders that know the suffering they were going through and will not pretend that they were living well.

“This is where we, as the UPND and president Hakainde Hichilema, come in as an alternative to an insensitive regime whose measure of the Zambian people’s worth is by the millions lining the pockets of a few PF members,” he said.

However, Imenda said the UPND were alive to the fact that not all PF members were enjoying from the loot that had been restricted to a select few who were close to the corridors of power.

He said President Lungu’s statement had even upset his own PF members who were not benefitting from the money being amassed by a few PF members.

“We appeal to these orphaned PF members to look no further; hope and help is on the way. The UPND will not discriminate when it comes to the sharing of the national cake because Zambia belongs to all of us regardless of political party affiliation, ethnicity, race or religion,” Imenda said. “Part of the reason Mr Lungu has seen congestion on Lusaka roads is that the national cake has not been evenly distributed, forcing the marginalised citizens to flood the national capital in search of various services. Instead of spending money to procure drugs for health facilities in the various parts of the country, the PF regime has focused on putting up over-inflated infrastructure. As a result, the people who cannot access quality healthcare outside Lusaka have to travel long distances in search of life-saving drugs, leading to congestion on Lusaka roads.”

Imenda said it was shocking that President Lungu interprets the congestion as a sign of Zambians living well.

“We urge the Zambian people to vote wisely because retaining this blind PF regime would lead to irreparable disaster,” warned Imenda.

THE CHALLENGES OF BWACHA CONSTITUENCY IN A NUTSHELL- PERCY CHATO

THE CHALLENGES OF BWACHA CONSTITUENCY IN A NUTSHELL- PERCY CHATO.
27/03/2021
Shortly after donating regarlia in Ngungu ward and chimanimani ward, Mr Chato explained that Bwacha constituency seems to be stack in time where social change is concerned, our roads are super pathetic coupled with grave drainages. From time to time we have just been receiving promises with zero action and this is why my action orientedness is coming in to resuscitate Bwacha constituency to sustainable levels of prosperity.

The current regime has been making strong claims of having been improved the medical sector but what is transpiring on the ground is that the medical sector has been performing from worse to waste in spaces of service delivery. We have seen mordern structured hospitals without drugs, but with a flood of prescriptions which are never actualized by patients due to extreme levels of poverty and inadequate income.

My vision is anchored on inclusiveness where service delivery is concerned and using my experience as a retired civil servant, with the help of the UPND and president HH we will lobby and engage stakeholders so that we do away with limitations where government cannot lend a helping hand.

We have four toll gates in central province but we lack access to the toll fees for us to stabilise our road network and our grave drainages.

Our monies are being ferried to develop infrastructure in other provinces neglecting the home of the toll gates like orphans and destitutes. When we are urshured into office we will lobby for our toll fees to be invested within our province to the betterment of Kabwe residents.
We will have democratically sustainable empowerment where people choose empowerment tools not dictatorial empowerment where leaders choose for the people what to empower them with. Under the UPND there will be no bluntant empowerment of giving urban dwellers animals to keep.

Empowerment should be sustainable to better people’s lives in the long-run. Entrepreneurship and skills training is another area that the UPND through myself and president HH will focus on. Harnessing entrepreneurship will trickle down into people having choices where the access of basic goods and services is concerned. Entrepreneurship will also bring about positive externalities which will intern create employment indirectly.

We will ensure that Zambia Development Agency operates profesionally, objectively, efficiently, and effectively to help sustain and stabilise SMEs.

Our vision is to bring in the leadership of our able and visionary leader president HH not the leadership of the visioneless that has brought extreme suffering to the Zambian people.

‘BOMA IYANGANEPO’, THE ZAMBIAN CRY

0

By Prof Edgar Nyanga]

Year in year out, we see and hear many Zambians calling for government’s help: ‘Boma iyanganepo’, a notion implying that the government should come and help us because we are in need.
I agree with the notion, especially at macro economical level. To me, this phrase simply means that the government should continue to promote fair and up to date policies for all of us to live in a standardised life. Indeed, Boma iyanganepo.

In this article, I cover ‘Boma iyanganepo’ phrase by dropping it down to micro (individual) economic level. The Zambian economy is not performing well and many of us are feeling the pinch (AfDB, 2019: World Bank Group, 2020). The biggest challenge that we are having is food. A family of 5 in Zambia should have a minimum of K7,195.00 per month for food only (JCTR, 2020); no school fees, clothes, and transport among other family needs. Most of us Zambians get way too little as wages/salaries and can’t afford 3 meals per day including average civil servants. Its ‘survival of the fittest’, ‘Boma iyanganepo’.

It’s at this time when we, as individuals, need to think otherwise for us to stop overrating the government by thinking that it can feed us. It will also help us be redeemed from being victims of political propaganda. Seeing that we are hopeless on our own, the politician takes advantage by first telling how someone (political opponent) has failed to fix our problems and then manipulate us by cheating that they will come to our aid/help. In succumbing to such, we are selling our dignity to the highest bidder. Yes, Boma iyanganepo, but we need to stand on our own, at least at micro economic level. We can do certain things without waiting for government (if at all it will come to our aid).

It is common sense that when people are hungry, they think of handouts from government and very vulnerable to those that want to take advantage and manipulate them. Those with power (food) come through to us and buy us through the ‘here and now’ eating. We are unable to resist because of hunger/ poverty. They will point to us beer halls, restaurants, give us small monies, all because we are hungry and want to eat, at least for a day. Without such people giving us handouts, we begin crying that ‘Boma iyanganepo’….

Let us think beyond government by working hard and planning to avoid being used. This issue of pure dependency on government will never wean us from poverty but instead we shall remain perpetual beggars. There is no one who is going to salvage us from the hand of poverty beside ourselves. Some people want us to remain in poverty to their advantage for easy manipulation. The micro economic level is ours, not the government (Boma). We ought to ensure that we work hard and plan for our survival, not depending on the manipulators who want to keep us in the position of poverty so that they enrich themselves. Hill Joseph (2006) harmonically elucidated that, ‘get up and do something for yourself, instead of begging’. It is always difficult to make a decision especially if one is hungry because logic is compromised. It is rare that we can put our voted leaders to task and ask real issues but only chanting slogans and singing praises even when we don’t agree with what they are saying, just because our stomachs are empty.

As opined by Rawat Prem (1986) that ‘Knowledge is beautiful, knowledge is precious, there is nothing like it in the world’, I would like to share a simple way we can be independent. Some costs can be waived by simple step. Think of planting 1 or 3 plants of tomato. At the end of 2 months, the plants will give you at least 1 ripe tomato per plant. This means that every day, u will have 3 ripe tomatoes from 3 plants for the next 4 to 6 months. Sow more plants; say 10 seeds of okra and 10 plants of rape for variety. These will help you have simple vegetables and you will find that the little money you spend on these will now be spent on other family needs. By such, it will help you have food and ask for real issues when standing before the job seeker (politician). Yes, we can stop this dependence syndrome on government only if we begin caring for the basics, which consume a lot of money.

Once we have taken care of the basic needs, we shall have the brains and dignity to ask them pertinent questions for the sake of national growth and development to those who canvass for a vote from us. We need to find our lost dignity and begin doing something for ourselves unlike waiting for the government…. Boma ilanganepo… Let us rise up and challenge ourselves for a better Zambia. With our dignity in us, we shall be able to tell government to give us sound policies such as Land ownership policies, trading policies, healthy systems, and etcetera. We need to fight poverty together as one and avoid Boma iyanganepo syndrome.

Yes, as averred by Terence, ‘while there’s life, there is hope’, we need to claim and keep human dignity because we still have life and make things better for ourselves as individuals without the Zambian cry… ‘Boma iyanaganepo’.

Jonas Chanda tumbles in Bwana Mkubwa primaries as Bowman gets a clean sweep in Kabushi

0

Health Minister Jonas Chanda was on Tuesday left sweating after he miserably lost the vote in the race to be re-adopted to stand as Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament on the PF ticket.

According to the score sheet obtained from the Constituency Executive Commitee, Dr Chanda lost the vote to his main rival Warren Chisha Mwambazi after the incumbent only managed to get four votes out to the 20 available.

This saw Dr Chanda go into a frenzy and confiscated the score sheet and forced the Acting Constituency Chairman a Mr. Chitalima to go into hiding in an attempt to disrupt the process and nullify the vote.

It is believed that Dr Chanda wants to manipulate the final outcome of the vote which is expected to be communicated to the District Commitee on Wednesday for onward transmission to the Provincial Committee and later to the National Secretariat.

By close of business on Tuesday, the whereabouts of Mr Chitalima and Secretary Justo Bwalya, Chairlady Evelyn Tembo and Youth Treasurer Chibukisho Bwalya remained unknown.

But Dr Chanda says he was forced to step in and intervene because the vote was irregular.

He has accused his main rival Warren Chisha Mwambazi of bribing the entire Constituency Executive Commitee into voting for him.

Dr Chanda has alleged that Mr. Mwambazi gave out K10,000 each to 12 members of the Constituency Executive and also paid for their accommadation at Fatmols Lodge in Ndola for him to be favoured for adoption.

“As PF Provincial Vice Chairman, as well as serving Member of Parliament for Bwana Mkubwa Constituency and Minister of Health, I’m aware that such corrupt behavior is contrary to regulations for the Party’s adoption process, I submit,” Dr. Chanda said.

Dr Chanda wants the District Executive Commitee to nullify the outcome of the Constituency vote and block the interviews for all aspiring candidates in Bwana Mkubwa set for Wednesday from taking place.

According to new adoption guidelines in the PF, candidates will be picked strictly by the lower structures by way of recommendation which will be communicated to superior organs of the party.

Meanwhile in Kabushi, incumbent Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo comfortably won the primary election beating his challengers Edward Ndalama and Tony Mwape.

Mr Lusambo who is also Lusaka Province Minister got 20 votes with Mr Ndalama and Mr Mwape both receiving zero votes.

The PF is expected to announce the final list of adopted candidates on 17th of May in readiness for the August 12th polls.

HON. GIVEN LUBINDA: THE BEST ZAMBIAN MP EVER – Miles Sampa

HON. GIVEN LUBINDA: THE BEST ZAMBIAN MP EVER.

By Miles B. Sampa

March 26, 2021

It was 2005 at a PF rally in Kabwe I first spoke to him. Cheerfully and respectfully he spoke to me as I approcahed him after the rally to congratulate him for his eloquent speech before the rally main speaker Miles Sampa.

“This kalad that sounds like a muzungu is so courteous and had to stop to listen to me a young man and a nobody to his political status and fame” I thought as I drove from the Kabwe rally.

In 2011 he was the PF MP cadidate for Kabwata, while President Lungu was a candidate for Chawama and I was the MP candidate for Matero. I was the rookie amongst all the 7 PF MP candidates for Lusaka District.

Hon. Lubinda became my default mentor taking me on Radio and TV interviews to appear with him. We campaigned as a team in the City and on the last weekend before elections, we undertook a long Drive show covering all City Constituencies from Munali to Mandevu, Matero, Lusaka Central, Kanyama, Chawama and Kabwata in that order. It took about entire day as we buzzed the Dont Kubeba song on loud sound systems on top of each candidate campaign trucks.

Not surprising Lusaka District got total pa total combined PF Presidential results and effectively PF defeated MMD out of Statehouse.

Todate Hon Lubinda not only is my mentor but also my ‘friend’, lunchmate and live band dancemate. Where I have done well politically, its because I took his advice. Where I have messed up (many times so), it’s because I either did not consult him or did not take his advice.

Given is a good man loved by many and in majority (80%) but as always with humans, there is a few (less than 20%) that choose to be his Thomases and Escariots.

From 2001 he won as Kabwata MP under the UPND ticket beating both MMD (Richard Kachingwe) and PF (Mulenga Sata) candidates, the Constituency has been on a transformation trajectory. Hitherto, Chilenje, Libala and Kabwata was well known for for iron (redish) looking gravel or dirty roads. Kamwala was full of Rocks all over. Nyumba Yanga and Chalala was a bush and hide out for thieves.

There where no roads connecting to Chawama or Lilayi. One has to drive on about the only two tarred roads (Chilimbulu and Burma) into CBD town to Kafue road inorder to get to Lilayi.

Today, the Constituency has the Tokyo way from which several tarred roads will lead motorists into Chawama and Lilayi. My favourite road is one that goes past G-Greens Pub & Grill. I am not sure why😊.

In his last 20 years as area MP, the bush on the southend of Kabwata has dissappered and replaced with state of the art mansions and mini malls owned by various Zambians.

In the 2006 general elections he rejected gestures from the ruling MMD and stood on the Opposition PF ticket. He won landslide beating then MMD’s Godfrey Bwalya Mwamba. In 2011 the mighty MMD pitted Lubinda with a former Minister and defector MP from opposition PF Dr Peter Machungwa.

I feared for Given and myself standing in Matero against another PF MP defector to MMD Mrs Faustina Sinyangwe.

My fears were however put to rest when during his first campaign rally in Kabwata he invited all of us MP candidates in the City. I then heard him shout in the mic while he laughed.. ” Peter Machungwa nizamudya mubisi”. I gained confidence thereon and indeed Peter Machungwa and Faustina Sinyangwe ” Tina badya babisi”.

In 2016 he won again on the PF ticket but come 2021 and despite majority residents calling for him to stand again, he has voluntarily chosen not to stand.

Essentially opted to leave the seat for a new broom and most importantly, while everyone is clapping for him.

For me, Hon Given Lubinda is the epitome of who and what an MP is all about. Principled, Adorable, Eloquent, Procedural, Reliable and above all, love for humankind.

He is the best MP that Zambia has ever had. Kabwata will never be the same without him. We can only wish him the very best in his endeavours and life after Kabwata Constituency.

You have run your race Sir Hon Given Akakelwa Lubinda. Zambia and posterity will always be grateful to your splendid output for the beautiful people of Kabwata constituency. God bless you.

ABOUT POLITICS OF BLACKMAIL: A CASE OF FAILURE TO COMPETE -Sean Tembo

ABOUT POLITICS OF BLACKMAIL: A CASE OF FAILURE TO COMPETE

By Sean Tembo – PeP President

1. There is no question that for the past 10 years or so, our politics here in Zambia has been dominated by only two political parties being the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) led by President Lungu and the main opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) led by Mr Hakainde Hichilema. In fact, in the last general elections of 2016, these two parties accounted for about 98% of the total votes at presidential level. Now, if you asked me, l do not think that’s good for democracy to have the entire political terrain hijacked by only two political parties with the rest of us falling on the sides as nonentities. But this is a situation that arose by default due to MMD’s rapid meltdown after they lost power in 2011, thanks to Bashikulu Ba Sata who made sure that the former ruling party was completely dissipated in no time. This left former MMD members with no option but to join either PF or UPND thereby creating a defacto two-party state.

2. Now, between the last general elections and today, several political parties have mushroomed including our own Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP). As to what kind of impact these new parties will have on the political terrain is something that remains to be seen. But one fact is undeniable; if any of the new parties is going to grow into a potent third force, they have to grab members from both the two dominating political parties being PF and UPND. In my considered view, it is difficult if not impossible to substantively grow a new political movement by only grabbing votes from one of the two existing large parties.

3. But how does a new political party grab members from existing political parties? Well, different political party leaders will have different answers to that question. But my answer is that you can only achieve that by out-competing your opponents in terms of having better solutions to national problems and offering yourselves as a better package. Speaking of which, that is exactly what we in the Patriots for Economic Progress have been doing. From our inception on 5th October 2016, we have sought to demonstrate to the Zambian people that we better understand Zambia’s social, economic and political problems and that we have better solutions to these national challenges and that the only way that Zambia can prosper is by ushering us into office so that we can better manage the affairs of the nation. We have been doing this using several different ways including developing and presenting our PeP Alternative National Budgets for 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and more recently for 2021. We have also developed and presented the PeP Alternative National Development Plan as well as more recently a PeP Alternative Economic Recovery Plan which outlines how we intend to turnaround the ailing Zambian economy onto a path of sustainability and prosperity from the current doldrums of poverty, squalor and debt-default. All our political activities since the word go have been designed to convince the Zambian people that we are a better political movement than either the PF or the UPND, with the sole purpose of seeking to grab votes from both these two political parties that have dominated Zambian politics for the past 10 years or so.

4. With regard to the UPND, we have been competing with them by challenging their proposed solutions to Zambia’s economic meltdown such as the IMF loan that Mr Hichilema says he intends to get as a first step to kickstarting the economy. We have told Mr Hichilema in no uncertain terms that his proposed economic solution is shallow and unlikely to bring about any positive turnaround to our economy because his reasoning that getting an IMF loan at low interest to pay off existing external debt is deeply flawed as an IMF loan cannot be used to refinance a country’s existing loan portfolio. We have also told Mr Hichilema that one of Zambia’s biggest economic problems at the moment is over-borrowing. And even my 6-year old daughter, Seanice knows that if your problem is over-borrowing, the solution to that problem cannot be additional borrowing as Mr Hakainde Hichilema is proposing to the Zambian people. Apart from his flawed economic solution for Zambia, we have also told the UPND leader that his party is just as incompetent as the ruling PF because UPND-run local authorities are just as dilapidated as PF-run ones, with huge amounts of salary arrears despite their huge revenue generating potential such as rates, billboards, personal levy, licensing fees, parking fees etcetera. Therefore, given that UPND has failed to show any signs of competence in any small way at local authority level, it is unlikely that they would suddenly become competent should they be entrusted with managing the affairs of the nation. That is our argument. We have also told the Zambian people that if a competent, corruption-free Government is what they really want, then UPND is not the solution, PeP and Sean Tembo are.

5. Our expectation has been that the UPND in general and Mr Hakainde Hichilema in particular will jump to the defense of their proposed economic turnaround model. We expected Mr Hichilema to explain to not only ourselves but to the nation at large how he will convince the 123 member nations of the International Monetary Fund to amend the Governing Principles of the IMF so as to allow an IMF loan to a country like Zambia to be used to refinance the country’s commercial debt such as Eurobond. Even if Mr Hichilema by some magic managed to achieve such a feat, the IMF is unlikely to give Zambia anything more than US$3 billion. So how then can a loan disbursement of US$3 billion be used to refinance the existing external debt portfolio which stands at about US$12 billion? Or maybe he would refinance 25% only and continue to service the other 75% of our external debt? But the way he simplistically puts it is in my view solely intended to hoodwink desperate Zambians who really need a positive turnaround to our economy.

6. But instead of defending his simplistic and shallow proposed economic solutions for Zambia, Mr Hichilema and some of his minions in the print media have taken to attacking us. They seem to want to peddle a false narrative that an opposition political party such as PeP should not compete with a fellow opposition such as UPND. What nonsense! We have two dominating political parties who almost equally account for a combined 98% of the total votes in the nation and you are telling us that we should grow our market share by only competing with one of them and not both? Forgive my French, but that’s absolute nonsense. I want to put it on record, once and for all, that as PeP and as Sean Tembo, we will always compete with any and all political parties in the manner and fashion that we see fit. Others call it attacking but l prefer to call it competing. When we say Mr Hichilema’s proposed economic turnaround plan of getting an IMF loan is shallow and simplistic, surely we are not attacking him. We are merely challenging him and his response should be to add some meat to his plan so that perhaps we and other Zambians can understand it better, because in its current form it does not carry water. But what does he do instead? He accuses us of attacking him. If we wanted to attack Mr Hichilema, our focus would not have been on his proposed economic solutions for Zambia, no. Neither would we have been talking about the poor performance of UPND-controlled local authorities. We would not have been challenging Mr Hichilema on any of these substantive matters of national interest. Instead, we would have been asking Mr Hakainde Hichilema why, as Negotiating Chairman he sold the Mosiotunya Hotel in Livingstone to a company in which he was a Director? He might argue that he was not a shareholder, but he was a Director and that amounts to a conflict of interest, and there is no record of him declaring interest, so he broke the law and he betrayed the nation after the nation entrusted him to serve it in that small capacity as Negotiating Chairman during privatization. If l wanted to attack Mr Hichilema, that is what l would have been concentrating on. I would have used my forensic auditing expertise to build a very solid case against him which he would not escape from even with his bus-load of lawyers. But that’s not our focus because we prefer to play civilized politics. That’s the reason why we only focus on issues of the economy and competence to run the affairs of the nation. Because we believe that those are the issue that the Zambian people want us to talk about. Those are the issues that matter to our citizens.

7. But the UPND and its leader should not push their luck too far by seeking to blackmail us into not challenging them by peddling a false narrative that an opposition political party should not challenge a fellow opposition party. Well, the hypocrisy in this narrative is appalling. Didn’t UPND itself refuse to work with the then main opposition PF to kick out the then MMD government in 2011? So chiwamila galu kuluma mbuzi? The only way that political parties would not challenge one another is if they are in an alliance or some form of electoral pact. May it be known by all men and women that the Patriots for Economic Progress is not in an alliance with any political party. Therefore, we can challenge and even attack any political party in the manner and fashion that we see fit, as and when we want. It is unreasonable for the UPND leader to expect not to be challenged by us. It is like he wants to get the benefits of an alliance without being in an alliance. No, that is not the way it works bwana. If you want the juice, you need to squeeze the orange.

TETAMASHIMBA SENDS WARNING SHOTS TO MANDEVU PF…FILES IN PARLIAMENTARY ADOPTION IN GRAND STYLE

0

Lusaka ~ 26.03.21
By: Emison Ng’andu
Mandevu constituency UPND aspiring candidate, Isidore Tetamashimba this morning successfully filed in his application papers for possible adoption as the party’s candidate in the August polls later this year.

Tetamashimba who was franked by hundreds of his supporters, party officials and councilors from different wards of Mandevu constituency filed in his papers at the party Secretariat in Lusaka.

Speaking to the media shortly after filling in his application, Tetamashimba said once elected, he will work to deliver for the people of Mandevu constituency who have suffered from failed promises made by the Patriotic Front.

Tetamashimba said that having lived in Mandevu constituency for a long time, he understands the challenges facing the people of the constituency and will deliver to their expectations.
He adds that, he is going to improve the road network, end problem of erratic water supply, youth unemployment and drainage system which the current MP has failed to do in more than ten years now.

And Tetamashimba sent warning shots to PF in Mandevu constituency saying they should not misbehave now that he has filed in. He says, they should not try to harasse any single UPND member within the constituency.

“I want to warn ba PF…now that I have filed in successfully, do not try to misbehave. From now on going forward, no UPND member should be harassed in Mandevu. Should they try to misbehave, they will know who I really am”.

Tetamashimba, has since appealed to all party members in the constituency to go flat out and campaign for president Hakainde Hichilema and UPND. He says no stone should be left unturned.
“Let’s all go flat out and campaign for our party and the president. No one should be left behind. Abantu pantashi, umuntu wabantu, umuntu pabantu”, he said to the jubilating crowds as he coined his new campaign slogan.
Present at the filing in of his application papers, were the national officials, provincial officials, district officials, constituency officials and ward officials.

This mouth knows how to represent itself – Kambwili

0

CHISHIMBA Kambwili says his mouth knows how to represent itself very effectively and doesn’t need anybody to represent it.

And Kambwili says the Josephs Akafumba led group has no locus standi to take anybody to court as they were expelled on March 19, 2021 and are not members of NDC.

In an interview, Kambwili said talk about him returning to the PF had been going on for three years.

“And I have never myself issued a statement that I have gone back to PF or I am going back to PF. If I decide to go to PF, I will announce. You don’t have to hear it from anybody else, it has to be me to announce, nobody else,” Kambwili said. “It is as simple as that. If I decide, not when but if I decide to go to PF, I will announce myself. I don’t need Akafumba to announce for me or anybody else. Here where we are we are saying we are going to counter what they have done. We are NDC, but if I decide, it will come from this mouth. This mouth knows how to represent itself very effectively, it doesn’t need anybody to represent it.”

On the injunction Bridget Atanga obtained from the Ndola High Court restraining him from masquerading as NDC president, Kambwili described it as a temporary setback but was nothing to worry about.

He said he respects the courts.

“But what has happened is what we call the last kicks of a dying horse and in my language they say akanwa ka milandu kalaibala literally meaning when you are guilty of something, you panic and you even try to expose yourself and do certain things that people would read between the lines and say that this person is just guilty of what he has done. This is what our friends have done,” Kambwili said. “What they have done is what is known as forum shopping in law. They took me to court last month, asked for an ex-parte injunction, they were told that we do inter-parte and a date was set. When they realised that the court asked for inter-parte where we can be heard, they chickened out. Two weeks later, they filed another matter in the same Lusaka High Court. Again they asked for an ex-parte injunction which they served us the documents and we are waiting for the dates for the inter-parte hearing. While this matter is still active in the Lusaka High Court, they decide to go and start another matter in the Ndola High Court over a similar matter as in Lusaka. That’s forum shopping. They asked for an ex-parte injunction and they were granted.”

Kambwili said he respects courts.

He said the Akafumba group was avoiding inter-parte hearing knowing that it was the fairest way for the court to decide who was right and who was wrong.

“So celebrating an ex-parte injunction nicilya mu ciBembabatila lekeni icisongo icilya ilanda citumpe. Icisongo is like an antelope; when it breaks into a garden, it doesn’t use another route; it will continue using the same route. Once it is settled that it’s got a route then you go and put up a trap and easily catch it,” Kambwili said. “Meaning therefore that sometimes to give a beggar enough room to hang himself. The people that are not on firm ground are the ones that have rushed to court. And for us it is very good so that the court can rule once and for all.”

Kambwili said an ex-parte injunction was not the final restraining order as it gives temporary relief while the other party is invited to state its case.

He appealed to his party members to be calm as they await inter-parte hearing.

“I can just tell the other group to say that he who laughs last laughs the loudest; in Bemba we say akatanshi takalisha, akalekelesha ekalisha. We are looking forward to the inter-parte hearing where we are going to submit on point of law,” he said.

Kambwili said his party would continue running as only himself had been restrained.

“We have got the office-bearers who are going to run the NDC,” he said. “And by the way the court may not have known when granting them the injunction that they were actually expelled on Friday the 19th. On the recommendation of the disciplinary committee, the central committee met and decided their fate. And from Friday last week, they are no longer members of the NDC. So that injunction they have gotten will not worry us. We are going to tell the court that by the way, by the time they came to court on the 24th they were no longer members of the party – they had no loci standi to represent NDC and we will leave it to the court to decide.”

Kambwili said the Akafumbas were just trying to be spoilers to disturb his programmes ahead of elections.

“But we will leave it to court because the court has given an injunction; who are we to say no? However, it is a very temporary setback,” said Kambwili.

The NDC has been torn following Kambwili’s decision to walk out of the UPND Alliance while his vice-president Akafumba, secretary general Atanga, Professor Atanga, chairperson Richard Luonde, Franklin Membe, Roan member of parliament Joseph Chishala, among others went ahead to consummate the alliance.

Akafumba was then installed as interim NDC president, Kambwili’s spokesperson Edward Mumbi as his vice and suspensions and expulsions from the party ensued.

AUGUST 2021 POLLS WILL BE CREDIBLE, GOVERNMENT ASSURES DIPLOMATS

By SMART EAGLES
…President Edgar Lungu remains committed to ensuring free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections once again says Foreign Affairs Minister Hon Joseph Malanji.

GOVERNMENT has assured the international community that the upcoming August 12 General Elections are going to be free and fair in accordance with the country’s constitution.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Joseph Malanji has told an assembly of Ambassadors and Heads of Missions of the European Union Member States accredited to Zambia that His Excellency, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu remains committed to ensuring a transparent and credible election.
Speaking when he addressed the members of the diplomatic corps during the opening session of this year’s Zambia-European Union Political Dialogue this morning, Hon. Malanji said Zambia has a history of upholding the commitment to democratic principles which include the holding of peaceful elections.
Other senior government officials that were present at the meeting include Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Stephen Kampyongo, MP, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Jean Kapata, MP, Minister of Justice, Hon. Given Lubinda, MP, Minister of Health, Hon. Jonas Chanda, MP, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary in charge of International Relations and Cooperation Ambassador Chalwe Lombe and representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of National Development Planning.
In attendance was also Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Patrick Nshindano.
“I wish to assure you that the forthcoming elections will follow our established tradition as Zambia further entrenches her democratic credentials. The Patriotic Front (PF) Government of His Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu shall ensure that Zambians are once again provided with free, fair, transparent and peaceful and credible elections,” Hon. Malanji said.
Minister Malanji further said the PF Government is grateful to the EU Election Observer Mission for sending an EU Exploratory Mission to conduct preliminary assessments on the possible deployment of an EU Election Observer Mission ahead of the August polls.

He said the team conducted their assessment from 14th to 21st March, 2021 following an invitation from Government at the last Zambia-EU Political Dialogue in November last year and the findings will determine the next course of action by the Mission.

“I wish to reaffirm Zambia’s long-standing commitment to the support rendered by all our cooperating partners including the EU, to ensure that credible, transparent and inclusive elections are held in the country,” Hon. Malanji said.

He added that the Zambian government is looking forward to the positive outcome of the Exploratory Mission and the subsequent deployment of the EU Observer Mission in August.
Meanwhile, Ambassador of the European Union delegation to Zambia and COMESA His Excellency Jacek Jankowski said the EU attaches great importance to its partnership with Zambia and the Zambian people hence the country should maintain its critical role as a beacon of peace in the Southern African region.

Ambassador Jankowski said the EU hopes to see the August polls taking place in a peaceful manner with a levelled playing field for all stakeholders to accord the electorates the freedom to participate.

He further commended President Lungu for expressing his continued commitment to peaceful elections during his annual greeting to members of the diplomatic corps last week.
“The European Union is satisfied with the positive remarks by Republican President His Excellency Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu during his annual greeting to members of the diplomatic corps last week regarding the need to uphold a peaceful electoral process,” Mr. Jankowski said.

Take the PF ku wire on 12th of August -HH

0

TAKE the PF ku wire on 12th of August because they have put you ku wire for the last seven, 10 years, UPND leader has told young Zambians.

Hichilema says he has no paranoia of any sort.

On Tuesday, Hichilema addressed a media briefing at his residence in Lusaka where he intimated that the current regime was scheming to eliminate him from the presidential race by resorting to kill him.

Asked if he made such an inkling on merely being paranoid, when he featured on Hot FM’s Hot Seat programme yesterday, Hichilema responded: No! No! No! Facts are there.”

“There are attempts by the PF top echelon, using cadres who we should change their name into thugs, to eliminate us,” Hichilema said.

“I have been arrested 15 times. Is it that paranoia? Was I not arrested for treason, a crime I did not commit? Is it that paranoia? Sesheke by-election; was I not hunted to be killed? Is that paranoia? No. Fact!”

He continued: “was I not called to the police headquarters – not a police station – on the 23rd of December 2020 and people were killed?”

“Those bullets were meant for me. Is that paranoia? No! Where is Nsama Nsama today? Killed in cold blood! Where is Joseph Kaunda? Killed! Who was called at the police? Was it Nsama Nsama? Was it Joseph Kaunda? It was me,” Hichilema said. “So many people were injured and you saw the footage. People who were peaceful, exercising their constitutional right while armless and harmless, were shot at. Is that paranoia? No! 21 of our members are still ‘detained’ for crimes they did not commit. Is that paranoia? No! This is not paranoia but disorder driven by a government killing machine, abduction machine.”

He further asserted that Zambians were hell-bent on voting out the “incompetent” PF.

“And they will do it in a free, fair and credible election. Imisepela (youths) take the PF ku wire on 12 of August, because they have put you ku wire for the last seven, 10 years. That’s it! The people will win,” Hichilema said.

He also indicated that the UPND would be launching its 2021–2026 manifesto in the next two weeks.

“But the implementation plan is already there. Have you ever seen a political party or a presidency seeking office with clear intent like us?” he said. “Zambians deserve a different approach because the old approach has not worked. Remember people have been saying HH has never been a councillor, he has never been an MP [But] we don’t want the experience of MPs of corruption.”

Meanwhile, Hichilema noted that bona fide opposition parties must concern themselves about the welfare of the people.

“We want to redeem the people of Zambia; we want to go into office to serve them, and not to steal from them,” said Hichilema, further criticising the current political violence, “which is drifting into community violence.”

“We’ll restore law and order and no citizen will be allowed to be attacked at bus stops, in markets, by party cadres.”

Kambwili was leading us like wagons on a rail track – Luonde

0

HAVE the issues that Chishimba Kambwili brought so strongly against the PF now been resolved, asks NDC national chairperson Richard Luonde.

Fr Luonde insists that it was Kambwili who led the NDC into an alliance which he has now abandoned.

Commenting on Kambwili’s justification of his apology to President Edgar Lungu, Fr Luonde wondered if Zambians would ever trust the former information minister again.

“What Chishimba Kambwili has done is very hurting and very unkind to us, he is trying to turn us into a mockery. Zambians want to be liberated from the fangs of poverty brought about by the PF. If we don’t help liberate them more coffins will be produced,” he said. “Kambwili did come out so strongly against the PF and Zambians believed him, they trusted him because what he brought out was the truth. The questions now are, have those been resolved by the ruling party?”

Fr Luonde said Kambwili needed to be fair to others instead of having a personality ego.

He added that if Kambwili had any problems with the alliance, an NDC central committee meeting should have been convened and the general membership informed about the issue.

“Look at our brother Harry Kalaba of the DP. He has been saying that he would not go into an alliance with any political party and his members are aware,” Fr Luonde noted. “But Kambwili wanted to take us by surprise and in the end, we would have had no candidates to contest in the elections at parliamentary and local government levels. Zambians have been saying they don’t want a fragmented opposition because this will only help the PF win.”

He said Kambwili had very good people around him who were there for him at all times like Hakainde Hichilema and Josephs Akafumba.

“But a brother who does not respect you is better left alone. And we have done so not because we hate him, we love him; but we don’t like his decision. Kambwili walked into the alliance alone and that is how everyone followed,” explained Fr Luonde. “The friendship that grew between the NDC, UPND and ADD is very friendly and cordial and nothing is private. So having such a relationship what would stop us progressing? Kambwili was leading us like wagons on a rail track where when an engine derails all wagons derail and can’t go anywhere. But we are not wagons, we are human beings who need to be respected and heard.”

BRIDGES ARE CONFUSING LUNGU…he’s seeing water where there’s bitumen – M’membe

0

SOCIALIST Party president Fred M’membe says there is no witchcraft needed to prove that people’s living conditions in the country are very poor.

On Wednesday when commissioning the Munali flyover in Lusaka, President Edgar Lungu said some people were deliberately not seeing developments in the country because their eyes saw things differently.

“People will tell you that the economy is not booming, yet activities which indicate that there’s money in the economy and people are living well are there for all to see. This is the contradiction of our political activity where we see white, you see black,” said President Lungu.

Reacting to the Head of State, Dr M’membe argued that monthly statistics are there from the Zambia Statistics Agency to show the true living conditions of our people.

“There’s no need for guesswork, witchcraft or voodoo. Things are not good for our people. It’s not a question of seeing black where there’s white; it is seeing black where there’s black and white where there’s white,” he said yesterday. “Is President Lungu seeing a mirage and mistaking it for a river? Are these bridges that are being built where there are no rivers confusing him – making him to see water where there’s bitumen? But we know that the ‘bent light from the sky’ is refracted as it passes from cooler air into hotter air and back up to your eye. Combining all of this together, refracted light from the sky is interpreted as straight, letting us see an image of the sky on the ground. This is why many mirages appear as blue water.”

Explaining President Lungu’s interpretation of the country’s economic situation, Dr M’membe said it is more about memory than colour.

“Why do some people see black while others see white before their eyes when they are about to pass out? Why does the colour that is seen differ from person to person? This is about memory not colour. You can only be sure that it is the memory people have created that differs, not the actual experience,” Dr M’membe added. “We know human brain does not record or play back a linear stream of events like a machine does. We don’t fully understand any of the processes of memory or recall. But we are pretty certain that a memory is in some way edited each time it is recalled.”

He said President Lungu might not appreciate the problems because he gets everything free.

Dr M’membe said under such comfort it is very easy for the Head of State to ignore people’s suffering.

“It’s not in dispute that the President is living a comfortable life – no problems about food, no education problems for his family, no water and electricity problems, no problems with medicines, he doesn’t have problems with rentals and transport. There’s no joblessness in his family,” said Dr M’membe. “But this is not the case with the great majority of our people. What he sees about himself and his family is not a reflection of the living conditions of all our people. Poverty is not reducing. Despair is growing. Hopelessness is on the rise.”

ZAMBIA’S TRIPLE AFCON APPEARANCE FAILURE. – How much of it is Andrew Kamanga’s fault?

0

ZAMBIA’S TRIPLE AFCON APPEARANCE FAILURE.
– How much of it is Andrew Kamanga’s fault?

With yesterday’s 3 all draw against Algeria, Zimbabwe’s win against the the Zebras of Botswana which moved them to an unassailable 8pts and we are condemned to our third consecutive Afcon appearance failure. The questions to ask are many;

1- When and where did we go wrong?
2- Why the failure after Afcon 2012 success?
3- How much of this failure is Andrew Kamanga’s fault.
4. How can we rectify the problem?

Question 1.

Zambian football has been on slump since 1993, and maybe more visibly since 1997 when most clubs on the copperbelt lost financial support from the mines as these teams were the cradle and pool for our league. The loss of support meant the breaking of grassroot football as most of these clubs had organized developmental structures. This lack of intentional player factories meant a shift to self taught and instructed players (Talent) that for two decades have failed to feature for elite European teams.

Question 2.

The failure after Afcon 2012 is mainly attributed to a lack of transition but that is a fault way to analyze things. The first thing would be to look at is the contingent of the team and how we finally won the cup.
The 2012 team was composed of two sets of players that had great chemistry having played together at junior levels for a long time;

– The 2003 Abuja U23 team comprising of the Katongo brothers, Colins, Mbesuma, Kennedy Mweene and then the 2007 U20 team comprising Sunzu, Mayuka, Nyambe Mulenga and Clifford Mulenga. These two sets of players with the exception of Nathan Sinkala had played together for atleast five years or more hence the cohesion we saw. The Herve Renard/Patrice Beaumelle physical conditioning of our players was a huge plus to our victory.

In short, longevity and not skill, form, tactical or technical superiority was the factor and that can not be relied upon to produce repetitive positive results. We could only go thus far and within a year in 2013 we were caught up with and exited in the first round with two goals only.

Question 3.

So the slump began right after Afcon 2012 and has continued under Andrew Kamanga’s reign. How much however is attributed to him for the extreme slump and triple failure now to appear at the Afcon? I would say 50 percent as he took over an association that already had a falling national team. His problem however is he did not see this slump at the time of his campaigns, did not have a plan to fix it in the short run nor seems to have one to fix it in the long run as nothing has improved in the last five years he has been at the helm. He may have a plan to be transparent and increase financial allocation to clubs but that does not translate to direct positive results on the field, more has to be done.

Question 4.

Soccer like many other sports is an art and a science now that needs detailed attention if an individual, team or organization has to produce positve results yet FAZ has not given it in a long time even in the days of Teddy Mulonga and Kalusha Bwalya.
To fix this, FAZ would have to recreate football factories; compulsory academies for clubs and also engage the ministry of education so that schools become intentional pool centers for soccer training unlike picking self trained and uneducated players who likely would have trouble taking technical and tactical instructions from coaches at senior. Intentionally instructed players would improve the quality of the game in the league, attract high profile clubs which in turn would improve our national team.

Ghana and Cote D’Icoire did the above after their 2004 Afcon failure and ended up making three consecutive world cup appearances, we can do it too.

Happy Friday.

Killing is not our business, Kamba tell HH

0

LUSAKA Province PF chairman Kennedy Kamba says if the government wanted to kill Hakainde Hichilema he would have died a long time ago.

Addressing the media in Lusaka yesterday, Kamba said Hichilema should be left to hallucinate that he will be president of Zambia after August 12.

He said Hichilema should just answer to the allegations against him that is before the police than politicise his criminal activities.

“If he has been found wanting by the police, let him deal with the police officers and not the party. There is no way…we don’t want bring the President in these issues. The President is busy developing this country and giving services to the Zambian people. And if he [Hichilema] has failed to tell the Zambian people what he is going to do before the elections, let him keep quiet,” Kamba said.

He said the PF had highlighted what the government has done in the last five years for Zambians.

Kamba also challenged Hichilema to tell the Zambians what the PF had failed to deliver and not hallucinating when summoned by police.

“When called by police bali (he is) busy saying balefwaya ukunjipaya (they want to kill), no – that is not our business. Our business is to give development and services to the Zambian people,” he said. “So let him not divert the issue he has with the police. Let him concentrate on what he is going to do for the Zambian people and if he has cases with the police, that is not our business as a party.”

And Kamba bragged that the Food Reserve Agency has paid all the farmers.

He said in the next two months, farmers would be receiving inputs for the 2021-2022 farming season as promised.

Kamba said for the health infrastructure, road and agriculture sector, the development was there for everyone to see.

He said there were people trying to paint President Edgar Lungu black.

Kamba said others were trying to mislead people that President Lungu wants to go for the third term.

“We are not going to accept as a party. And finally, President Lungu, I can assure you my fellow party officials and the youths in Lusaka Province will be on the ballot come August this year and will win. Let us rally behind President Lungu and not be swayed by these lawyers like John Sangwa,” said Kamba.

Lungu’s attempts to bribe miners won’t resuscitate lost image – Akafumba

0

DON’T fool Zambians, National Democratic Congress interim president Josephs Akafumba has told President Edgar Lungu.

The Mineworkers Union of Zambia and National Union of Miners and Allied Workers have been ‘offered’ ‘ECL Miners Empowerment breakfast mealie-meal at K50 per 25 kilogramme.

According to a memo dated March 19, the mealie-meal will come from the milling company called Shimaini Investment Limited, trading as MUZ Milling Company.

All miners need to do is provide a latest pay slip and mine identity card for verification that they belong to the two unions.

The memo, signed by Shimaini Investment Limited acting managing director Charles Chileshe, stated that members may obtain additional bags under the current credit scheme subject to K400 limitation where applicable.

But reacting to the development, Akafumba wondered how long this will last.

“What about the police men and women? How about the retirees, teachers and other men and women in uniform? How about the civil servants, teachers, council workers and the poor villagers in Western, Eastern, Southern and other provinces? Mr Chagwa Lungu, please stop fooling us. Stop fooling Zambians,” Akafumba, a lawyer and former justice permanent secretary, said. “I challenge you to go into Shoprite or any other shop here in Lusaka, Livingstone or Chipata and tell Zambians how much a five-litre container of cooking oil is going for and how much it was in the PF under Michael Sata. It is now over K230 instead of K30 or K40. How much is bread? So please don’t fool Zambians with this ‘ECL Miners Empowerment’ mealie meal at K50.”

He however, advised the miners to get the mealie-meal, saying they will not see it again after August 12 if the PF wins.

Akafumba said President Lungu is supposed to find lasting solutions to problems being faced by all Zambians with regards the high cost of living.

“Your attempts to bribe miners with K50 worth of mealie-meal will not resuscitate your lost image on the Copperbelt. It is too late and your attempts are not sustainable because you are targeting August and thereafter you will abandon the miners. So to the miners I say get the mealie-meal and eat it, because after August we will bring in more lasting solutions for all Zambians under the UPND Alliance led by Hakainde Hichilema,” said Akafumba. “Our target is to make Zambians smile again. Imagine your sister who is in Chipata or Lusaka; what are they eating for one ECL to give you mealie-meal at K50.”

Chaile seeks to nullify ECZ nomination fees

0

RADICAL Revolutionary Party president Vincent Chaile has petitioned the Constitutional Court seeking a declaration that the nomination fees announced by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) are null and void.

In a petition filed in the Constitutional Court, Chaile further seeks an order of injunction to restrain the ECZ from proceeding with the hosting or holding of the general elections until the final determination of this matter.

The petitioner also seeks other reliefs as the court might deem fit and that the ECZ be ordered to pay costs of and incidental to the petition.

Chaile stated that he was set to participate in the forthcoming general elections in August 2021.
He stated that that ECZ on July 16, 2020 issued a statement proposing an increment in nomination fees.

Chaile stated that ECZ proposed to revise upwards nomination fees for all the candidates for the forthcoming elections.

The proposed nomination fees were male presidential candidates K150,000 from K60,000 while female presidential candidates and persons with disabilities K120,000 from K60,000.

Male parliamentary candidates were required to pay K25,000 from K7,500 with female candidates, youth and persons with disabilities were to pay K20,000 from K7,500.

For mayors, male candidates were to pay KK25,000 from K7,500 with female candidates, youth and persons with disabilities paying K20,000 from K7,500, among others.

The fees were later revised for the 2021 general elections with male presidential expected to pay K95,000, females K75,000 and K60,000 for youth and persons living with disabilities. Parliamentary male candidates would pay K15,000, females K13,500 while the youth and persons with disabilities will pay K10,000. Mayoral male K15,000, K13,500 for females while the youth and persons with disabilities expected to pay K10,000.

Chaile stated that ECZ and other stakeholders held various meetings where they raised concerns that the proposed fees were too high and meant to deter the poor people from participating in the leadership of the country.

He complained that ECZ’s announcement of nomination fees at will and at any time in meetings or at press conferences was a direct infringement on the right to participate in an election.

He stated that elections were not for a profit venture but a fundamental part of the democratic process in which citizens easily participate.

Chaile wondered why political parties were invited to such meetings if they could not hear out their concerns.

“I verily believe that the respondent elected to ignore the concerns raised by the petitioner and other stakeholders and thus excluding the youths and underprivileged but visionary adults from participating in politics,” stated Chaile.

PLAYER RATER: Zambia 3-3 Algeria . Lubambo shines, Kabaso flops

PLAYER RATER: Zambia 3-3 Algeria . Lubambo shines, Kabaso flops
The unenviable prospect of missing out on an unprecedented third successive AFCON came to reality on Thursday night as Zambia was held at home by the African Champions Algeria .
Algeria stretched their unbeaten run to 25 games and are one away from equaling Ivory Coast’s record.

Below the ZamFoot Crew takes a look at how the Chipolopolo Boys fared against the North Africans.

Mwenya Chibwe 5/10 – Hard to blame him for the goals. His defense did not help him. He saved a stinging shot from Baghdad Bounedjah well and was quick off his line to aid his defense acting as a sweeper.

Luka Banda 3/10 – Looked the brighter of the three in what was a shambolic back three. Was good when he had his moments but had a hand in both the first and second goal. Denied by a good save from the corner
Kabaso Chongo 2/10 – Error prone skipper was back in the struggled to impose himself on the game and was being beaten with ease. Culpable for the second morale sapping goal when Zambia was pushing for the winner at 2 – 2. Amateurish that he threw himself at the striker like he did.

Adrian Chama -4.5- Disastrous first 30 minutes playing on the right side of the back three and Zambia only held on to the 19th minute thanks to the offside flag that was saving the situation. Easily nutmegged for the second goal and has to shoulder some blame for the first and third. He looked more comfortable playing in the back four.
Nathan Sinkala 3/10 – He has lost his mobility and hardly did anything of note in the 30 minutes he was on the pitch. He seemed to remain up the pitch even when disaster was looming in the box. Sacrificed for Rodrick Kabwe.

Benson Sakala 6/10 – Solid performance. Added the grit to the midfield but also used the ball very well picking his moments when to try a defense splitting pass or just being conservative with the ball.

Enock Mwepu -6/10 – The midfield maestro was lost in the middle of the pack. He looked dangerous when he had the space to operate in but he failed to dictate play or give Zambia the rythmn in the game.

Ghampani Lungu -5/10 – Bright through out the game even when he started as the right wing back. He looked the most likely to make something happen when the chips were down. However his decision making let him down in the final third.

Augustine Mulenga -5/10 – He had a very poor first half and looked lost in the game. He was live after the restart and caused the Algerian problems going forward. One bad pass when Zambia were through on goal on the counter attack will stand out but he atoned with an assist for the Clatoush Chama for the equalizer.
Patson Daka -7/10 – A tough evening for him as he was closely guarded. Showed nerves of steel to strike home two good penalties which gave the goalie no chance. He battled well alone upfront.
Substitutes
Lubambo Musonda -8/10 – Came on in the 3oth minute to play right back. He gave it his all. Defended well, sharp to sense danger and breakdown counter attacks, supported attack, took on defenders, tried his luck on goal and could have had an assist. Easily the man of the match for Zambia

Rodrick Kabwe -6/10 – A surprise that he did not start but brought a lot of balance to the left wing working it up and down. His took over set piece duty and his corners troubled the Algerian goal minder

Moses Phiri -6/10 – In for Ghampani Lungu. He was up for the fight and looked determined to get the result. He won the second penalty for Zambia
Spencer Sautu 6/10 – in for Augustine Mulenga. Slotted into right back position. Did not do much to influence the game.
Collins Sikombe -4/10 – Nothing to write home about
Coach Micho 5/10

His decision to go with a back three backfired terribly and it cost the team two goals. A bad decision to experiment with the stake so high. He was pragmatic with his decision making and picked the right subs that influenced the game positively. With a little bit of luck, he could have pulled a famous come-back but some individual errors by players are hard to mitigate. Unfortunately the tendency to start poorly and make changes seems to be a hallmark of his management and it caught up with him this time.
