Senegal Cleared of World Cup Risk After AFCON Final Walk-Off
According to L’Équipe, FIFA has clarified that no global sanctions will be imposed on Senegal following the Lions of Teranga’s temporary walk-off during the AFCON final. Crucially, Senegal’s participation in the next FIFA World Cup is not under threat.
FIFA’s legal team explained that any disciplinary measures decided by CAF will remain strictly continental and will not automatically extend to FIFA competitions.
This means that while CAF could still sanction individuals—including head coach Pape Thiaw or certain players—the Senegal national team remains protected at the global level.
