CDF and Grandiose Ideas!
ZAMBEZI WEST MP BUYS COMBINE HARVESTOR, TRACTORS USING CDF
Zambezi west MP, Hon. Musumali Vumango shows off a newly procured combine harvester for use in Zambezi west constituency in Zambezi district. He hopes that small-scale farmers will grow rice at commercial level.
The harvest, plough and two tractors have been procured through the Constituency Development Fund.
I guess the bigger the CDF, the grandiose the white elephant ideas!
The MP needed to get professional advise from Ministry of Agriculture on the urgent needs of the small-holder farmers and how to help make them more productive than investing in white elephant equipment!
Further community or cooperetive projects with better yields such as farming of appropriate crops, or poultry, or aquaculture, can be embarked on. And for mechanisation programs, the proposed equipment for wider hectaerage of cultivation are well known.
Is this the best way to utilize CDF Funds?
