ZESCO Board and MD Must go

ZESCO has renewed its application for emergency tariff increase of upto 115%.

ZESCO says its seeking to raise $94million per month.

Although, the drought has contributed to the current power crisis and extended load-shedding hours, the bulk of the problems were as a result of management’s negligent and poor decisions.

For example, the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) allocated water to ZESCO for generation of power for the 2023/2024 season, recognising the effect of the El Niño weather effect, ZESCO exhausted the allocated water by June 2024!

This was attributed to extensive power exports. And despite the extended power cuts going on for days, ZESCO is still exporting power.

ZESCO wants Zambians to pay for these costly decisions.

Let’s reject these propasals.

President Hakainde Hichilema must use this opportunity to dismiss this crop, a competent board and management must instead be picked.

ZESCO’S APPLICATION

ZESCO’s application for an emergency tariff is intended to affect three (3) customer categories namely;
●Residential,
●Commercial
●and Maximum Demand.

The tariffs for Social and Water Pumping customer categories are not affected by the proposal.

Should ZESCO raise US$94 million per month, that is, US$15 million from domestic
customers and the balance from other sources, then the following benefits ill be expected:
i. Reduce the power deficit from an average of 1,300MW to 512MW; and
ii Reduce hours of power rationing, providing consumers with up to 7 hours of
predictable electricity supply per day.

  1. Bwamba don’t you get tired with idiotic misinformation surely even when things are straight forward you just want to twist, but to what end??? Were is Zesco trying to raise $95 per month in their application?

  2. Here goes the Ambassador of lies trying to muddy the waters again. Why not give the institutions a chance to explain their submission to Zesco?
Mwamba you are neither an engineer or a lawyer nor a technical expert in the field to technically critic the submission.
Personally, I have not even gone past the first page of the document already what you suggest is a stark contrast to what the documents states.
