FAILED COUP IN CONGO DR WHILE PRESIDENT WAS ATTENDING AU MEETING IN ADDIS ABABA

As I stated several times on this platform, including in my last post, the AU and its Regional Economic Communities (RECs), such as SADC, ECOWAS, EAC and others, are handling the issue of regional peace and military coups with kid gloves.

The leaders representing respective communities use the summits as talkshops. For this reason, the fourth wave of military coups is now sweeping across Africa.

Initially, the wave was blowing in ECOWAS region. This week, the wave blew closer to home: the President of DRC Felix Tshisekedi survived a coup as you can hear for yourself from this footage.

Bottom line: AU and its RECs need to up their game from talkshopism to action.
