Hichilema urges law enforcement agencies to probe FIC report allegations

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has called on Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) to investigate the allegations detailed in the Financial Intelligence Centre’s (FIC) ninth Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Trends Report for 2023.

“The President expects the Law Enforcement Agencies to immediately take interest in all the issues raised in the report,” stated Chief Communications Specialist, Clayson Hamasaka, in a press release issued by State House.

In a statement, Hamasaka shared that President Hichilema emphasised government’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption and stressed the importance of thorough investigations by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the Drug Enforcement Commission, and other relevant agencies.

“It is a fact that illicit financial transactions undermine a country’s development agenda,” the President noted, underscoring the urgent need for action against suspicious transactions identified by the FIC

  1. Please continue doing this, government must be held accountable. UPND has to be much better than PF
    KALABA FOR PRESIDENT

    • But that is the problem.

UPND are worse than PF. A lot worse.

The amounts FIC is reporting greatly dwarfs the amounts reported during PF.

And to think that his stooge is now heading FIC, the situation is probably a lot worse than is being reported.

We are seeing the worst corruption under this tribalist conman.

And I told you all this 2 years ago that he was a conman milking the country dry.

      Vote wisely in 2026.

  2. When the boss is a corrupt thief, then his followers will also be corrupt thieves. And FIC will report this theft.

Go to Rwanda or Botswana, and you will see that corruption there is on its death bed. It is not increasing like it is in Zambia. The leaders in those countries are not corrupt. Hence followers can not dare steal or be corrupt.

In Zambia, followers are very corrupt, yet the leader claims he himself is not corrupt. But voters know that this leader is a liar. A conman. A tribalist. That is why FIC have reported the worst ever corruption under his leadership.

Let us vote this rubbish out of office.

    Vote wisely in 2026.

  3. I want to know what Hakainde’s Business partner, Muna Hantuba, has done with the $140 Million so called Environmental consultancy contract for the Mining Industry ! Let empty Head Kabuswe tell the nation how the money has been spent… what consultancy Muna Hantuba has done.
    Ba Lazo… Amalabishi.

  4. Release of the Suspicious Transactions Report by the Financial Intelligence Centre has been followed by a reaction from HH immediately. Fair-minded readers know the difference with the immediate past when officers of the FIC were even being threatened by government officials. In contrast HH has welcomed the report and said that he expects DEC, ACC and “other agencies” to investigate the transactions. HH is saying he will be watching them and that’s a world of difference from Edgar Lungu.
