Why Saboi Imboela has been arrested

Dear editor

Alot of people will be wondering why Saboi Imboela was arrested and behind bars today.

Others will claim prosecution, especially the opposition and its cadres. I can’t blame them because in Zambia we lack court journalist who can report accurately and regularly on court case proceedings. We only hear guilty or not guilty or nolle by the magistrate or judges.

We all know why Saboi is in court, so I won’t bother with those details.
I want to concentrate on why she has been arrested.

When Saboi was put on her defense, she kept dragging the case, through adjournment after adjournment.

She struggled to bring witnesses to support her allegations, including the 5 Hamasakas she said she will produce as her witnesses.
Then she stayed away from court proceedings, claiming that she was unwell, meanwhile appearing at Press briefings and other public engagements.

She then informed the court that she was having problems with her lawyers and needed time to engage new lawyers.  This caused more delays as the magistrate accommodated her excuses.
And on other occasions, she simply missed court dates.

Finally this week, after another long  adjournment, Saboi was absent from court, including her lawyers with no explanation.
The magistrate had enough of her insolence and issued a bench warrant which was executed today.

Hope this puts everything into perspective.
Courts don’t like people who waste their time!

I submit.

  1. This account is nothing but the whole truth. Those who know Saboi Imboela tell me that she has read Political Science up to postgraduate level at UNZA and the University of Otago in New Zealand. This qualified her to be on the academic staff at UNZA. Saboi should therefore be in politics to give politics a good name but she’s not. She may have an MA or MSc in Political Science but she does not seem to have internalised the theoretical knowledge of Politics. She’s therefore unable to independently think politically in a way that should benefit Zambia and make both her alma maters proud of her. I have had time to read some of her written thoughts. I saw little erudition in them. Perhaps there are some works she has done where she has really put her intellect into the whole thing. Clayson Hamasaka is a presidential aide who’s not supposed to be the target of her criticism of the Hichilema administration. Unfortunately the holder of an MA in Politics from the University of Otago does not seem to know. This is really, really sad.

  2. Indeed Zambia has no professional journalists to report truthfully from the courts and all the citizenry get is distorted adulterated misinformation by the opposition! Many an educated politician seem to be invaded by some brain chewing virus which turns them into low no brains inputting their intellect into political decorum!

  3. In Zambia, having a Masters or PhD is an end in itself. How you use the knowledge is not important.

People acquire these qualifications for prestige.

  4. Bo Saboi is a funny lady and I think politics may not be good for her despite said education and she is not the only one but they are several of them with such character. They better try agriculture.

  5. Ok so this educated person uses perverted language to get attention. I honestly would have expected this from a grade two as a means to get ahead.
