FORMER SECRETARY TO CABINET DR. SIMON MITI IS WELL AND ALIVE

Government wishes to refute, as false and malicious, information circulating on various social media platforms alleging the death of former Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr. Simon Miti.

These claims are entirely baseless and misleading as Dr. Miti is alive and in good health.

Government strongly condemns the dissemination of such misinformation, which not only causes unnecessary panic and distress but also damages the credibility of the platforms spreading these falsehoods.

The public is urged to refrain from sharing or propagating such false information, as it undermines social cohesion and erodes trust within communities.

In line with its commitment to safeguarding the safety and security of all citizens, Government announced yesterday that it has embarked on the process of repealing the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021. The revised legislation will aim to enhance the protection of private citizens, particularly in the digital space.

Government remains dedicated to fostering a safe and responsible digital environment where the rights and dignity of all Zambians are respected.

  1. It is amazing how Mr. Miti has managed to elude the corruption dragnet.

I remember one magistrate ordering his arrest during Mr. Kapoko, the jailed ex-Ministry of Health HR officer’s trial. Of course nothing happened since he was still walking the corridors of power. And not surprising, he was actually promoted by Mr. Lungu to Special Secretary to the President if I recall correctly. It’s a case of the one who got away.

  2. This cyber crime is in many ways a laughing stock, for example Miti is our tribal cousin , as a Bemba, I can joke about Doris Liya having softer bums like that of snowflakes, is this cyber crime? Just like a can say Miti nafwa mwefyakuChipata muli namalilo will this amount to cyber crime? There are traditions and practices which have been so much embedded into our culture and history that some of these laws are barbaric and will not stand a test of time.
Not long ago, Zambia watchdog was insulting and altering digital images of Sata. Did anyone arrest amasaka? No tomorrow will be the people who are now in government facing the same worst law that they are currently advocating for. Please don’t make laws to fix your opponents or silence them when in power because the same laws will come to bite you sooner than later
