*As ECL’s Family Faces Legal Scrutiny, He Intensifies Propaganda*

By Martha Mpindu

As the consequences of his actions catch up with him, former President Edgar Lungu finds himself increasingly constrained, like a man ensnared by a huge anaconda. The tightening grip of criminal law around him has made his family’s explanation for their burgeoning wealth implausible.

Desperation drives Lungu to resort to propaganda, disseminated through his so-called “Ambassador of Lies,” Emmanuel Mwamba. This includes fabrications such as the claim that the UPND is about to amend the constitution to extend the presidential term from 5 to 7 years. Such lies appear to be a desperate attempt for Lungu to maintain a semblance of control.

However, these tactics will not save him. What he needs to do is voluntarily surrender his immunity and allow the law to investigate the source of his significant wealth, which he lavishly distributed among his family. This is what Zambians demand to know, not vama propaganda.

  1. The biggest President kawalala this continent has ever seen. Lungu, the only thing he was doing whilst in State House was to steal and braii meat.

  2. Please ECL stand out and defend yourself and your family. Allow an environment for free assessment to cement your innocence. As a former head of state, it is highly disturbing to us as the general public to hear such allegations. A father of the nation must reclaim his rightful position.

  3. Zambian constitution gives presidents sooo much power, they appoint and disappoint almost anyone in key positions plunder and mold the constitution in a difficult to lift his immunity.
You need a patriotic president to change the status quo or keep on shouting corruption, shrinking democracy, economic stagnation etc.
